ABOUT This book comes from my interest from fitness, fashion and lifestyle generally. This book includes fashion trends in fitness and social media. Having sports and style as one trend it has an an influence on the fashion industry from clothing wear, accessories to bags. You can see that gym and fitness wear on Social Media and Instagram in particular is big for market growth coming up against high street and retailers. The athletic style of wear has been massively influenced by Instagram influencers and the healthy lifestyle! Say if you scroll through Instagram; influencers often post content of their gym routines or their new gym clothing promoting the brand like Gym Shark, Alphalete and Under Armour. So the growth of fashion in the fitness industry has allowed these brands to grow online. Online influencers continue to utitlise these brands to help raise sales and engagement. It’s clear that Instagram has plenty of inspiration and motivation whether you are moving towards having better training days, get fit for a purpose or look for the latest fashion and styles. Other brands like UK high street stores including Topshop who are working with Beyonce and her Ivy Park collection; most recently been announced that there will be a new partnership with the Adidas brand (Bazaar),whilst H&M, New Look and Primark have their own sports fitness range to compete with competitors. So in this book you will find out more about some of the brands currently on trend!

Previously owned by Blue Ribbon Sports between 1964 and 1978, and renamed Nike in 1978 (Britannica); soon at the start of the 21st century there were 170 Nike retailers and the well known logo been recognised all around the world. In 2018, Nike was the most valuable apparel brand worldwide valuing at $28 billion US dollars (Statista) now in 2019 at $32.4 billion. Having footwear, apparel and equipment, Nike also owns brands such as Converse, a known success. A well known favourite amongst men and women worldwide so it unsurprising that a large number of people own this brand.
The success of Nike as had endorsements and sponsors big name athletes such as Michael Jordan, Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Federer and Tiger Woods.

Under Armour started in 1996 by the owner Kevin Plank in the United Stated of America (Business Insider); it’s not only a large sports apparel brand, it has also been made into the largest digital fitness brand starting in 2013 (Forbes) which is also connected to ‘MapMyFitness’ and ‘MyFitnessPal’. In terms of style, the brand is well suited fitness photoshoots for fitness influencers, to wearing at home or casually aswell as the gym with many influencers representing the brand on social media platforms. Endorsements and sponsorships of this brand include athletes of all sports including NFL’s Tom Brady, Memphis Depay, TrentAlexander-Arnold and Anthony Joshua.

Launched in 2012 by Ben Francis from Birmingham, UK (BBC) turning his company into a fast growing brand in the fitness industry endorsed by fitness influencers and a popular brand in the gym. The brand is believed to be valued at ÂŁ300 and ÂŁ400 million with over 5 million followers on Instagram (Telegraph). A reasonably priced brand, coming in all different and stylish colours, it is huge on Instagram in particular, amongst fitness fanatics, gym goers and influencers are known to wear this brand whilst exercising and at the gym.

A German company starting in 1949 producing and selling sports apparel and shoes which was the second largest brand after Nike at the start of the 21st Century (Britannica). By 2019, Adidas was globally the third largest apparel brand (Statista), valuing at $16.67 billion US dollars. It’s very valuable for athletic apparel, accessories and footwear globally. Amongst women and men in particular it’s one of the most popular brands worldwide amonst Nike and Puma. Regarding the Adidas logo it’s always been known for it’s three stripes and since the changes over the years, it’s still recognisable worldwide.
