Alter To 'alter' is to change. An 'altar' is a place where we honour what we hold sacred. Alter exists between these two meanings, where transformation becomes both a physical and spiritual experience. Through flowers, portraiture and elemental forms, the works explore moments suspended between dissolution and emergence. Light resembles fire, water becomes atmosphere, and organic forms drift between the familiar and the imagined. Rather than documenting nature, these works draw upon it as a language through which transformation, surrender and renewal can be felt rather than explained. Created through a slow and intuitive process, each work occupies a threshold where nothing is fixed. Flowers bloom, fade and transform. The human figure appears not as a portrait of identity, but as another vessel within the same cycle of change. Light becomes both subject and material, revealing transformation as something quiet, continual and sacred. Alter invites viewers into a contemplative space, one that asks what we choose to hold, what we are willing to release, and how moments of quiet attention can become sites of transformation. - Lisa Ray
