My World on Paper and in Clay has been created in 2025-26. The paintings on paper as well as the smaller mixed media works, such as handmade cardboard ‘paper’ and small clay faces, started out as experiments using various media on various surfaces (recycled if possible). Once I realised how well shopping bag paper can take rough handling and diverse media applications, I have continued using it. I work intuitively and I enjoy visual problem solving. I let the materials and processes guide me. I am especially fond of Art Brut, Tachism and Outsider Art. I like to think that my art is humanistic. The body of work in this, My World on Paper and in Clay, exhibition is two-fold. Firstly, there are the abstract paintings on recycled shopping bag papers, often worked over months, in series, going back and forth. Secondly, there are the clay wall sculptures which provide a playful solace from the process of painting. Both ways of creating art are important to me. They feed each other.
