IL PRIVATE RESIDENCE - 2025

fin. 2025
Built on a plateau in Central Java, IL Private Residence is conceived as a quiet retreat within a clustered residential setting. Positioned among neighboring structures, including a secondary family home and a private clubhouse, the generous land proportion allows the main residence to maintain a sense of calm, privacy, and spatial openness. Elevated terrain invites cool air and abundant natural light, enhanced by expansive windows that promote cross-ventilation and seamless connection to the outdoors.
Warm teak surfaces are balanced with deep, bold tones to create an interior atmosphere that feels grounded, modern, and enduring. Complementing the architectural clarity, JANISH Home crafted custom built-in cabinetry throughout the kitchen, mudroom, bedrooms, walk-in closet, and bathrooms, ensuring that each space reflects the same level of precision and intentional design as the structure itself.

Blending modern clarity with traditional-rustic character, IL Private Residence balances raw architectural expression with finely finished materials. Smart-home technology is seamlessly integrated to enhance daily living, while natural textures familiar to Indonesia’s tropical climate provide warmth and authenticity. The result is a residence that feels progressive yet grounded, refined yet welcoming.
Positioned near the entrance, the mudroom serves as a transitional foyer between the outdoors and interior spaces. Custom cabinetry and an integrated bench support everyday routines, offering both storage and preparation space. Finished in warm teak tones and softly illuminated by LED lighting, it establishes a calm and inviting impression.

The kitchen features a dual-tone composition of teak and ebony finishes. Integrated appliances and contemporary kitchen technologies are seamlessly embedded to support fluid cooking and dining experiences, while storage is carefully maximized to maintain visual clarity. Corner cabinets are executed using the ‘adu manis’ technique, a diagonal miter joint, where two timber pieces are precisely cut to meet at an angle, reinforcing both craftsmanship and structural integrity.

Custom Bed Frame and Headboard, home office area

The master bedroom is conceived as a cohesive private suite, complete with an en-suite bathroom featuring dual wash basins, a walk-in closet, and custom-built cabinetry. A bespoke bed frame and headboard combine wood with contrasting fabric, complemented by the Loleta Bench to complete the composition. Storage is thoughtfully integrated to maintain a seamless, low-maintenance appearance, with open shelving kept minimal to preserve clarity and order.

The kid’s bedrooms introduces a lighter and more playful interpretation of the home’s design language. The custom bed frame features a simplified headboard composed of wood planks with subtle fluted accents, omitting the material contrast found in the master suite. Designed to create the illusion of a floating form, the elevated base not only enhances visual lightness but also minimizes sharp corners, reducing the risk of accidental impact.

Each child’s bedroom is complemented by a private bathroom, a custom-built wardrobe, and a compact study area designed for focus and creativity. Open shelving is balanced with concealed storage to maintain order while accommodating personal belongings, reinforcing the room’s practical yet thoughtful character. Every element is proportioned to support independence while remaining cohesive with the home’s overall material language.
Across the residence, spatial planning distinguishes clearly between communal and private realms. The first floor encourages gathering and shared activity, while the upper level offers a quieter retreat dedicated to rest and personal space. Carefully designed and precisely installed furniture plays an essential role in this experience, enabling the residents to inhabit each area with clarity, comfort, and intention.
