With any humanitarian or environmental crisis, there is often a need for the widespread deployment of emergency shelter to be able to house and accommodate affected communities. However, the primary choice of shelter - the tent - has remained relatively unchanged for decades, primarily due to its flexibility, cost, and speed of deployment. With these crises occurring for long periods of time, the short lifespan of a tent (roughly six months) makes it an option that is wholly inadequate for the nature of these events.
