Open-Air School Woven into Structural Motion
What are the possibilities in exploring the inherent architectural tension between plasticity and firmness? Woven Assembly, an elementary school navigating between indoor and outdoor, confronts this conflict between fluid movement and sturdy solidity by weaving ground and roof into a modular structural system. This system articulates fluidly to adapt to its environment, impressed upon by the shifting roof and ground that inform its shape; its resulting configurations enable the formation of new, complex spaces that blur the lines between open and closed, light and dark, playful and composed, still and moving.

Featuring a gas station recontextualized in Downtown as a decrepit relic of a futurist vision for LA, Future Ruins utilizes Unreal Engine as a method to visualize a future of environmental collapse and examine architecture’s role in it.
Porthole x Poolhouse
Swimming Pool Aligning People & Landscape
Porthole x Poolhouse expreiments with intersections and interplays between light, directionality, and repetition in an accesible public context. Designed as a public pool facility and a training facility for the US Olympic Artistic Swimming team, it translates the movement of bodies and light alike in water into its cascading, layered design language. Axes of circulation, sunlight, and space align in all dimensions and lead to a multi-level experience that integrates accessibility with activity.
Repeated iterations of arcs and datums inform a careful alignment of flows of people and light throughout the building. The rises and falls of the base geometry inspire the descent of visitors into a sunken groundplain, as well as determining the descent of sunlight into the building. As how the flow of people is strategically oriented through stairs, ramps, and literal and implied passageways, the flow of sunlight into the poolhouse is filtered to align the light with the circulation of the building and the ever-present desire to bask in the sun after a dip.
