Sustaining your not for profit:

Ladiescorner.ca

Training those who work in the not-for-profit sector is what we do here. We offer a program to enable industry executives and employees to succeed and manage their not-for-profit organizations. Once a week, we use webinars to problem-solve with industry heavyweights. The future we see is one in which non-profit organizations within the black community thrive in a sustainable manner.

This program is implemented in collaboration with Dexteritas, an accounting firm operating out of Calgary. Visit: www.thefei.ca for more information.

Edmonton’s African Communities Engagement Session The community engagement for the African Multicultural Community Centre (AMCC) facility project aims to enhance the cultural, social, economic, and civic vibrancy of Edmonton communities of African descent. The project's cornerstone is a community centre set to be established at the former Wellington Junior High School site. The community engagement process will play a critical role in this project, and the consulting team and the community leaders are integral to the success of this project, as they will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication, organizing events, and advocating for the community's interests. For more details, follow along at www.africacentre.ca/amcc-project https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/african-communities-engagement-session-tickets-714218154727

Our Fall Edition is out now!!! This edition focuses on the arts, honouring the people who shine the light on Black Arts and Culture in Edmonton. We are grateful to Elsa Robinson and Fetsum Teclemariam for featuring with us. We have also featured Alfonse Ndem Ahola — the Executive Director at Francophonie Albertaine Plurielle (FRAP), for the first time because we wanted to highlight our brothers and sisters in the Francophone community; we are also excited to share Prof. Alice Prophete’s story. Her leadership as Chairman, Board of Directors, FRAP shows that there are no obstacles a woman cannot overcome. We ask you to share this edition with a friend. Invite a family member to read this copy. Can you do that for us? Read it here: https://issuu.com/iyafemi3155/docs/ladiescorner_magazine_fall_edition_2023_1_5_

Poem of the month In September's gentle golden glow, Autumn's whispers softly flow, Leaves of crimson, amber, and gold, In nature's tapestry, stories unfold. The air turns crisp, a hint of chill, As summer's warmth begins to still, Harvest's bounty fills the land, In September's gentle, guiding hand. A time of change, a season's grace, September's beauty we embrace, With every dawn and twilight's ember, We find our hearts in love with September.
