Hello, Neighbors, Every year after school starts back, weekend traffic thins out, the lake settles down, and suddenly you can walk into a restaurant and be seated immediately. The temperatures may still insist that it is very much summer, but the rhythm around Island View begins to change. I love this stretch of late summer. It feels a little like the whole lake exhales. The water is calmer. The crowds are smaller. Sunset comes a little earlier now, reminding us that summer won’t stay forever. There is still plenty of boating, fishing, porch sitting and floating left to enjoy. These are the days that invite us to move a little slower. To linger over coffee. To take the long way home. To sit on the porch without an agenda. To spend an afternoon on the water with no particular destination. There is something luxurious about an intentionally lazy day, especially after the busier part of summer has passed. The IVHA Board takes Labor Day weekend off and does not plan any community events. That is by design, giving our volunteer board members one summer holiday weekend to enjoy however they choose. I hope everyone else does the same. And if you hear a little Jimmy Buffett drifting across the neighborhood, there is a reasonable chance it is coming from our house. Friday of Labor Day weekend is Jimmy Buffett Day in Florida, and while we may not technically qualify as tropical, a lake, a cold drink, a good playlist, and waves lapping on a sandy beach can get us surprisingly close. This year, our playlist will carry a little more meaning. With the recent loss of Dolly, I’ll be making room for plenty of her music too; a small tribute to an artist whose music, humor, generosity, and unmistakable spirit have been part of the American soundtrack for generations There is something lovely about summer after the rush has passed but before it is truly gone. I hope you all find a little time to exhale, move slowly, and enjoy it. See you lakeside,

As summer begins to wind down, the Board is turning its attention toward fall and the next round of community business. Our next All-Members HOA Meeting will be held Saturday, October 3, at 9:00 a.m. at our home. Carol and I will be glad to welcome everyone, and I hope you’ll make plans to attend. These meetings are an important opportunity to hear updates, ask questions, and talk together about issues that affect Island View. Thank you to everyone who continues to do their part to make Island View a good place to live. Whether that means helping with a community event, looking out for a neighbor, keeping up with your property, or simply staying engaged, it all matters. Enjoy the rest of summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone in October.
