THELIFE OFKIWI
Kiwi came home when he was 9 months old, he was scared and filled with anixety as he didn’t know his surroundings. Kiwi was given his own space with lots of water and food but as it was his first day in a new environment, all he could do was stand still and look around. He would hiss at anyone that tried to get near him or tried to touch him. After a few days, he started eating from one’s hand. He also started to fly around although it was difficult having him to get back into his cage.
Training him was kind of difficult since all he wanted to do was fly around, eat, have treats, and scream. Mother was so consistent in whistling different songs so he could also whistle. He ended up knowing how to catcall someone, something I taught him. He was able to learn the song September.
He was able to manage to get close with the other family members although he would fly away when someone tried to get him to step up on the finger. He would always look for something to bite or nibble on. He loved tapping his beak on anything especially when someone tapped their finger on something hard, he would copy. His favorite spot to be at would be on top of the ceiling fan, sleeping but still looking at someone to see what they are doing. He enjoyed whistling especially when he was supposed to be sleeping.
As long as someone was home, he would be out of his cage. Sometimes he would get hyper and fly around in circles while screaming. He would love to steal someone’s food especially when it was dinner time. It was difficult to put him in his cage since he knew what time it was and wanted to steal someone’s food. Sometimes one would give in and share some of the food.
Kiwi would look so funny when walking on the floor, he would hav eto look up when someone is in front of him. When someone entered the house, he would get so excited that he would scream and whistle till they greeted him. Kiwi enjoyed bathing himself in the sink, he would spread his wings while dipping his head in the water. He disliked getting out of the water as he shivered on top of his cage but he didn’t want anyone to dry him. He liked going on top of one’s head although one would have to be careful so he wouldn’t poop on their heads but he would pecker at someone’s hair. Clipping his nails was a tough job.
He enjoyed his toys in the cage and loved his mirror, he would whistle to himself. When one changes his food and water, he would get happy, going side to side on his stand. He didn’t like his playground but would sometimes go on top of it to play with the bell. He didn’t enjoy his small skateboard as he was too scared since it moved but he did enjoy biting it.
