Our Journey

YELLOW RIBBON EXHIBITION

BRAS BASAH COMPLEX

Title of Exhibit: Our Journey

This exhibition is to show and express what inmates go through during their time in prison and their journey to integrate back into society.

The different spaces represent the different stages that inmates go through and serves to reflect their thoughts and feelings through their journeys.

-2021

Title of Exhibit: Our Journey

Our Journey consists of 3 different throughout Bras Basah Complex. The 3 spaces are,

1. The Path

2. The Walk

3. The View

The Path

Play of light and shadow within the space

The corridor represents when inmates first enter their cells and corridors of the jail. The represents society.

The walls create shadows on the floor that creates a trapped and uneasy feeling, while light entering the space through the gaps in the giving a feeling of helplessness and uncertainty

The tall walls and gaps allow interaction between the user and the space. People inside the walkway can peer out through the gaps while the people on the outside(1st floor and up) look in and at them as they travel through the space.

The space is not sheltered leaving it prone to weathering as to symbolize how inmates all have different circumstances when they enter prison and all of them face different hardships.

The Walk

The Walk, is a maze that leads up to 3 stories. The height of the walls in the maze decrease in height for each level. The maze itself has a larger area for each of the floors.

The decreasing height is meant to symbolize the inmates’ journey toward their freedom with each step getting easier to reach and within their sight. The larger space is showing how they are given a chance and have space to explore and find themselves.

The entrance to the maze is from level 1 (ground floor) and the exit is at level 3.

The View

The View is meant to be a shared community space for people to interact and come together to share their stories as well as admire their journey.

The main idea for it was to show after the inmates have reintegrated into society, when they look back, they can see how far they have come.

The acrylic transparent panels on the walls of the space are meant to allow people a complete view of the surroundings and the plants in the space are meant to symbolize hope and growth.

TELEGRAM EXHIBITION

CAUSEWAY POINT

This was a project to design a space within a mall for the assigned company’s marketing campaign. The company I got was telegram and the site I chose was Causeway Point.

-2021

The space I designed is named Seek, as “seek and you shall find” I wanted the design to help with marketing how Telegram has an easy-to-use search engine for its users to find chat groups with people of similar interest. The reason for the maze from the entrance to the main area of the space is to reflect on how Telegram maintains user’s privacy and takes pride in its strong security and privacy.

THE SOUL

THE SOUL

2 BUKIT MANIX ROAD SENTOSA

The Soul was a group project that included interior design and digital modeling for a spa space. It was a project that was assigned to us to renovate and design a spa space from an existing restaurant layout. After designing we were meant to pitch it to the client.

SPACE PLANNING

Since the exisiting space was a restraunt, we had to do space planning from the original floor plan and decide on what kind of space we wanted to make. For this we decided to go with a spa
