Material properties of Kerto® LVL T-stud in Australia Kerto LVL T-stud material values were tested and analysed by Eurofins Expert Services Oy. Only European test methods were used and they are mostly in accordance with the Australian test methods according to AS/NZS 4357.2 and AS/NZS 4063.1. The European tests methods deviate from the Australian methods in bearing strength perpendicular to grain. European 5th percentile compression strength perpendicular to grain values are much lower than Australian mean bearing strength perpendicular to grain values. Shear at joint has not been tested. The design characteristic values for use with AS 1720.1 are given in the below table. Evaluation of design characteristic values was done according to AS/NZS 4063.2. The joint group was defined according to the standard AS 1649 based on density only. The stress grade was defined according to AS/NZS 4357.0 and AS 1720.1. The product doesn’t have a third party certificate in Australia.
