President's Message: Dear Esteemed Makati Sports Club Member, As we approach the year’s end, amidst the festive spirit and anticipation for the new year, I am delighted to present the latest edition of our “Torch” newsletter. Within these pages, you’ll discover the vibrant tapestry of events that unfolded throughout the year – from the thrilling Pro AM doubles tennis tournament to the ongoing President’s Cup, the October Beerfest, MSCI Donation ceremony, Halloween celebrations, the Auction of Club Shares, Barista Training, and the blessing of the Sports Hub & Bowling Alley. In our relentless pursuit of excellence, the Board and Management have undertaken significant renovations, breathing new life into cherished amenities such as the tennis courts, Bowling Alley, and the main dining area. These enhancements are designed to encourage our members to make the most of their club experience. As the holiday season approaches, our function rooms and banquet areas are already in high demand, with many dates fully booked and some even boasting double bookings. We are to conclude the year on a high note. Additionally, we are excited to unveil our Christmas giveaways, featuring delectable meals and dishes perfect for sharing with your loved ones during this Yuletide season. I extend my sincere gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support and generosity throughout 2023. It has been a remarkable year, and we eagerly anticipate an even more extraordinary 2024. INDUCTION CEREMONY The Induction Ceremony to welcome the new members and life members was held on August 18, 2023 at the elegant Zobel Dining Room. Some directors and managers led by the Club President Mr. Lito Melendres, Vice President and Membership Committee Chairman Atty. Jun Virtudazo, and the General Manager Mr. Ron Limbo graced the occasion.

BEERFEST A fun-filled night teeming with beer, food, and great music was held on October 27, 2023. The Singing Sensations led by Jasmine Fitzgerald, Charlotte Ferguson, and Michelle Ayalde, entertained members and guests with their amazing talent and vivacity. Enjoying the festive atmosphere, the audience was in awe and danced to the beat of exhilarating sounds.

MSCI GIVES BACK
The Makati Sports Club, Inc. which recently held its Beerfest 2023 last October donated some of its proceeds to CRIBS Foundation which aims to provide shelter for abandoned and surrendered babies as well as give a safe haven for sexually abused teenage girls. Ms. Olivia Mabanta-Campos, Chairperson of the Foundation, personally visited the club to meet the Club President, Mr. Lito Melendres, Socials Committee Chairman, Mr. Charlie Casas, and the General Manager, Mr. Ron Limbo.

Members and their kids were delighted as they received pumpkin baskets from the club in celebration of Halloween on October 31, 2023. The children were all smiles as they frolicked and visited the club’s food outlets to accept delicious goodies and treats prepared especially for them.

Auction
Successful auctions were held on August 24, 2023 and October 10, 2023 and have sold one (1) class B share worth Php 2 million and one (1) class A share worth Php 2.5 million respectively. The increase in the share price reflects the club’s potential and growth and shows the development and progress which the club has undergone in the past years through the help of the Board of Directors and the Management.

Chef to Chef Cooking Demo The club’s Food and Beverage Department led by Assistant F&B Manager Nelson Briones held the Chef to Chef Cooking Demo with Nestle Professionals on August 24, 2023. .It was an enriching and productive demonstration as the club’s F&B staff learned a lot of techniques and new dishes from seasoned professionals who are willing to share their knowledge and expertise in the food industry
Barista Training The club’s Food and Beverage Department held a productive 2-day Bartending Seminar on September 20 – 21, 2023 at the San Miguel Function Room led by the new skillful and brilliant F&B Supervisor Arluz Cuadra. Participants were taught the basic skills on food service and were given an extensive training about liquors and beverages.

Bowling Area Blessing The blessing and official opening of the Sports Hub and Bowling alley was held on October 20, 2023. Some directors led by the Club President Mr. Lito Melendres and the management team led by the club’s General Manager Mr. Ron Limbo supported and graced the event. Renowned architects Rogelio Villarosa and his daughter-in-law Minnie Villarosa also attended the blessing and official opening. An inspirational message was given by none other than the 6 time world bowling champion Mr. Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno who generously shared his time with the MSCI members and employees. Members and guests were delighted as they tried the new bowling alleys and arcade games. The bowling area’s new façade and surroundings were also lauded as it exudes a modern vibe and yet chic ambience.

PRO AM Tennis Tournament Awarding Ceremony The PRO AM Awarding Ceremony was held on September 24, 2023 at the Sports Pavilion. MSCI’s amiable President Mr. Lito Melendres and the club’s gracious General Manager Mr. Ron Limbo attended the ceremony. Other members were also present to support the players and the tournament. The members and trainers who emerged as winners are as follows:

The President's Cup Tennis Tournament commenced on November 13, 2023 and was well-participated by members. This tournament was organized by the Sports Committee led by the Chairman Mr. Jun Lopez.
