CERT TEAM GOLF CART MAINTENANCE The Tara Woods CERT Team will be providing a golf cart maintenance check-up on Saturday, March 29th. Check-in starts at 10:00 AM and runs until 1:00 PM. Don’t miss this free opportunity to check if your tires need air, your batteries need water, or your lights need help. The service area will be in the parking lot on Shilo Lane near the Tennis Courts. If it rains, the event will be moved under the portico of the Clubhouse. GOLF CART SAFETY TIPS Keep these tips in mind wherever your golf cart takes you. In Tara Woods golf carts are a typical way to get around. They are a lot of fun to drive. Here are some important safety tips to help keep you and others around you safe. Golf Cart Safety Basics • Only carry the number of passengers that you have seats for. • Stay away from your golf cart during lightning. • Remove any valuables when leaving your cart. • Establish a regular maintenance schedule. While You Are Driving • Do not start driving until all passengers are seated. • Operate the golf cart from the driver’s seat only. • Keep feet, legs, arms, and hands inside the cart at all times. • Obey and follow all traffic rules. Stop at all stop signs. • Check behind you before operating in reverse. • Always yield to pedestrians. • Do not text while driving – distracted driving applies to golf carts just like cars. • When parked, always set the parking brake. • Remove the key before leaving the golf cart to prevent theft! Adapting to your terrain • Use extra care and reduce speed when driving in bad weather or on poor surfaces. • Avoid extremely rough terrain. • Don’t drive fast downhill and try to avoid steep slopes to prevent tipping over! • Sudden stops or change of direction can cause you to lose control. These tips were adapted from State Farm golf cart safety and brought to you by your TW CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).

Join your Tara Woods CERT team. No particular experience needed. Free training and equipment provided. Help keep your TW community safe, educated, and prepared for disasters, emergencies, and other safety situations.
