Fall Prevention Workshop & Onsite Balance Screenings Tuesday, April 15th Immediately After Tuesday Coffee (start of 9:45 – 10:00am)
Fall Prevention Workshop This presentation will typically last 45 minutes and discuss medications, pharmacy information, file of life, chronic diseases/illnesses, footwear, household hazards, caregiver support, normal aging processes and safety resources available to reduce falls in the home.
Balance Screenings Available Balance screenings will take 5-10 minutes for each participant and be available after the Fall Prevention workshop. Balance screening signups will be available at Tuesday morning coffee, the Starlight Ballroom, and just prior to the start of the workshop on April 15th. Balance screenings will be available until 1:00pm that day (based on demand of Del Tura residents.) The balance machine used is a helpful tool that lets you know if there are any balance concerns. Once you have those results, you’ll be provided with the information and an ICD-10 code to take to your physician for any further testing that may be needed. While it doesn't pinpoint the exact issue, it does help guide you toward what to explore next with the help of your physician. Special note: Screenings are not available for residents already using an assistive device (cane, walker or wheelchair)
