2014 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL 08 October 2014 by Victoria Edmonds Day of the Girl The Day of the Girl is a response to an urgent problem facing our world today: the neglect and devaluation of girls around the world. On October 11 of every year, we see dynamic groups across the world (led by girls, of course) acting to highlight, discuss, celebrate and ultimately advance girls’ lives and opportunities across the globe On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.” “Girls face discrimination and violence every day across the world. The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.” http://dayofthegirlsummit.org/ - Day of the Girl Summit website Girls from the Salvation Army around the world sharing their stories about the Day of the Girl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wszzwIxn-TY&feature=youtu.be – Dia de las Ninas Cuerpo Ancud – South America West https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l85hlX3FVa4&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop – Norridge Citadel Sunbeam USA Central Territory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD5_CzJKuMk&feature=youtu.be – Hong Kong William Booth Secondary School https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xzfcl8wtqrt1fm/Tuggeranong%20Girls%20Video%2002.wmv?dl=0 Tuggeranong corps in Canberra, Australia http://vimeo.com/106922163 Grupo: Academia de coro Territorio: Oeste de Sudamérica Paris Chile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuF3Vocgubo TSA Urdaneta Corps-I Am a Girl
