Marina has been committed to Global Health innovation and management in biomedical research (ISGlobal) and humanitarian healthcare organizations (AAH, MSF) between Africa (Angola, D. R. Congo, Central African Republic, Ethiopia and Mozambique) and Europe. She opened-up the Knowledge & Technology Transfer unit at ISGlobal in 2017 with the business development of innovative treatments such as new antibiotics against multidrug resistant bacteria (awarded Barcelona Activa Best start-up initiative 2019), point-of-care diagnostics (malaria, meningitis, HIV, Chagas) and digital health. Currently launching the Energising Global Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ENERGHY) Summer School together with academic, tech transfer, hospital and
industry partners and funded by EIT Health. Co- founder of EIT Health supported Senior Executive Program in Global Health Innovation Management (SEP GHIM) launched in 2019. Since inception in 2015 the programme has supported over 7,000 student innovators. Natalie has worked across the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and education management for over 10 years. She provide leadership and strategic planning to the
LaunchPad programme in addition to designing and delivering content across all initiatives. It offers different training programs, mentoring and access to funds. He is also a Tenure-Track Lecturer at the Department of Business Economics and Management of the University of Barcelona.
He obtained his PhD at the Business Economics Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His research interests are in the field of innovation strategies, and open innovation and he has published in international journals and has presented his research in several conferences. SILVIA MORIANA Innovation & Transformation Lead at Médecins sans Frontières Silvia Moriana (Barcelona, 1972) has a degree and a Master in Business Administration and Management from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and ESADE (Higher School of Business Administration and Management) and a Master’s in Creative Process from ELISAVA (University School of Design and Barcelona Engineering). Since 1998 working in the humanitarian and global health sector, mainly in Doctors Without Borders where she has held management positions both in headquarters and in the field.
In the field Silvia has worked as Head of Mission or Emergency Coordinator in Ecuador, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, the Central African Republic and Ethiopia. At headquarters, she was the Director of Human Resources between 2008 and 2013. She currently holds the position of Leader of Innovation and Transformation at the MSF Operational Center in Barcelona. Between 20015 and 2018 Silvia worked at ISGlobal - Institute of Global Health in the role of coordinator of the Chagas initiative.

VALÉRIE FAILLAT Head of Sanofi Espoir Foundation After earning a Doctorate of Pharmacy in the University of Montpellier, France, in 1989, Valérie joined the French affiliate of what is now Sanofi, where she held positions of increasing responsibilities in Regulatory Affairs. After 15 years of experience in the field of European regulatory affairs, she joined the Access to Medicines department, in the Corporate Social Responsibility Division of Sanofi. During more than 10 years, Valerie has developed a recognized expertise and network in the area of access to healthcare and quality of medicines in developing countries.
In 2017, she has been appointed Head of the Sanofi Espoir Foundation. Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of DNDi (Drug for Neglected Diseases Initiative), a collaborative, patients’ needs-driven, non-profit drug research and development organization that is developing new treatments for neglected diseases, and member of the Board of Directors of Tulipe, a not-for-profit organization that federate donations made by pharmaceutical companies to provide an emergency response to the needs of populations in distress as a result of acute health crises, natural disasters or conflicts.

YOLANDA AMAT Project Officer Education & Training ISGlobal Yolanda Amat is the Project Officer to the Education & Training Department at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal.
She also assists with the coordination of different activities, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
In this position, Yolanda works closely with the director and other team members providing administrative assistance in the different academic programmes.
Yolanda joined ISGlobal in 2009. Before her current position at the E&T department, she served as a Project Assistant for the director of the Global Health Policy Unit (GHPU) at the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research (CRESIB) and was the Project Assistant for the Decade of Vaccines Collaboration (DoVC) Secretariat at ISGlobal.
She serves as the primary contact for the Students’ Office at the Faculty of MedicineUniversity of Barcelona and provides technical and logistical support on the various postgraduate programmes.
Her training is in administrative skills, accounting and office management.

JAUME ARGERICH Assistant Professor University of Barcelona Part-time professor of entrepreneurship at UB. He has a PhD from UB on business angels screening criteria and holds an MBA from IESE Business School. His topics of interest are health entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurial finance, and negotiations. He has led projects on the lifesciences field such as several summer schools for healthcare post graduate students (2016-20), the growth programe for health start-ups for the Granada health cluster (2020) and the UB acceleration
program for health start-ups (2019-20). Other recent programs in which he has participated are the European Activate project on technology transfer or the innovation day at UB sponsored by EIT Health. Aside from his academic activity Jaume has acted as a consultant for several entrepreneurs looking to raise capital or validate their business model and is himself an investor in several start-ups.

QUIQUE BASSAT ICREA Research Professor & Head Malaria Program at ISGlobal ICREA Research Professor and Head of Malaria Research Program at ISGlobal. As a pediatrician, with special interest in infectious disease epidemiology and public health, Dr. Bassat has attempted to combine his clinical work with biomedical research in those diseases that most affect the poor and vulnerable.

His main area of interest has been the prevention and treatment of malaria in childhood, with a particular focus on understanding the clinical overlap of malaria and other common pediatric conditions. His research has also covered the new paradigm of malaria eradication, with a particular interest in evaluating the role of drugs in elimination strategies.
He is also very interested in the validation and evaluation of technological devices for Global health purposes, and in particular on the evaluation of a new non-invasive approach for the diagnosis of meningitis.
He has also conducted work on the description of the epidemiology and etiology of respiratory infections (viral and bacterial),

BRENDAN BOLAND Co-Founder & CEO Loci Orthopaedics Brendan graduated with honours from University College Dublin Medical School in 2006, having also gained a Bachelor of Medical Science as a concurrent degree. As a post-graduate, he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and also a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners. Brendan was a BioInnovate Ireland Fellow 2014 during which time he developed his skills in identifying and determining opportunities in the life science sector.
Along with his co-founder, Gerry Clarke, Brendan founded Loci Orthopaedics in 2017. He has led the funding for this company’s projects, now totalling over €6 million. He is a named inventor on several patents and is leading the company in the commercialisation of the company’s first product to market.

She was appointed as a founding member of the Biomed Alliance CME Committee, where she has led an environmental study of learned societies in the field of CME/CPD.
Céline has more than 15 years’ experience in the space of medical education, much of that spent working with accreditors and learned societies. She has also been on the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance for Medical Education, serving as Secretary and Chairperson of the Nominations Committee.
Throughout her career, she has contributed to a series of peer-reviewed publications in continuing medical education. Before joining EIT Health, Céline worked for the European Society of Cardiology, where she was the Head of Education. A keen team manager, Céline values interacting in dynamic teams and environments.

I work with MSF since 1998 and have done several missions in the field, mainly in Angola, Uganda, Malawi, Liberia. For the past 14 years, I am working as Diagnostic Advisor in the medical department of MSF in Barcelona. Beside the direct technical
support to MSF field projects, the role of the advisor is to look for the most appropriate diagnostic tools suitable for our missions. The main challenge is to find the appropriate diagnostic tools and strategies for neglected tropical diseases and outbreak investigations. I am currently supporting the development of the mobile outbreak laboratory initiative in MSF Barcelona.

JAVIER JIMÉNEZ Founder & CEO Newborn Solutions Javier Jiménez was born in 1982 in Barcelona, Spain. He received his B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications in 2008 and his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 from the Technical University of Barcelona, and his MBA in 2014 from EAE Business School (Barcelona). After growing his expertise in electronics from 2004 to 2008 in the computer (FujitsuSiemens), communications (SMC Networking), automotive (Kostal), and space industries (Indra), his interests focused in medical imaging quantification at the High Technology Institute in Barcelona until 2012, and next on medical
imaging innovation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge (USA) until 2015, when he incorporated his first venture Newborn Solutions (NBS). As an entrepreneur in medical devices, he has deepened his knowledge of technologies and has gained much know-how in businessrelated areas such as product development, management, intellectual property, quality and regulatory, finances or fundraising. DAVID NOGUERA President Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF Operational Center Barcelona) President of MSF Spain/OCBA since October 2016. Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the University of Barcelona. After an experience as a doctor in Girona (Spain), he made his first intervention in the field with MSF in 2001 in the Canary Islands, when he participated in an exploratory mission to assist the immigrant population. He has extensive experience in emergencies, has worked in contexts of conflict and displacement, violence, nutritional crises and emergencies related to epidemic outbreaks. During this period he has also been responsible for the Emergency Unit of MSF and operations coordinator in Latin America. MELISSA SOBERS Senior Adviser Programme Planning and Mentoring UNAIDS Previously she served as the PEPFAR/GF Implementation Adviser for the UNAIDS Country Office in Nigeria. Focusing most of her attention on making the money from the USG/PEPFAR work in support of the Government of Nigeria. In addition. Ms. Sobers has been supporting the office in ensuring a functional Joint Team and the implementation of the Country Envelope. She also is very interested in Health and HIV Financing and has been working with the Government of Nigeria to look at pathways for sustaining the HIV Response in the face of flattening external donor resources. Prior to her assignment in Nigeria, Ms. Sobers supported the development and implementation of Global Fund Grants in the Caribbean as the UNAIDS Regional Investment and Efficiency Adviser, first posted to the Regional office in Trinidad and Tobago and later to the SubRegional Team in Jamaica.
Ms. Sobers started her career in UNAIDS Belize, supporting strategic information, policy and strategy development and high-level advocacy for keeping HIV on the political agenda. After completing her undergraduate studies in Biotechnology and Statistics from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, Ms. Sobers worked as a statistician for the Belize Social Security Board and later as the Monitoring and Evaluations Officer for the National AIDS Commission. Later she pursued postgraduate studies in Actuarial Science and International Health Technology Assessments, both in the UK. Ms. Sobers’ interest lies in evidence synthesis and using innovative programme implementation to create systemic change in the way we do business in Health and HIV.

STÉPHANIE VOUGIER Head of Maternal & Neonatal Health Programme at Sanofi Espoir Foundation After completing her PhD in biology in 2004 (Université Paris Denis Diderot) and a postdoctoral position (Queen Medical School, Nottingham, Royaume-Uni) on mechanisms of actions on neuro-degenerative pathologies and cancer in public research respectively, Stéphanie joined Sanofi R&D in 2006 as a lab head. She developed research projects coordination skills and technological innovation knowledge in a multi-cultural and collaborative healthcare environment with public research institutes. In 2018 Stéphanie started a part-time detachment in Sanofi Espoir Foundation to understand the
health inequalities challenges for vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries and contribute one year to the My Child Matters onco-paediatric programme. From 2019 she pursued her detachment to expand her knowledge to the maternal and neonatal health field before integrating the Foundation as programme head. She is in charge of developing projects with a women- and needs-centered strategy aiming an impactful and sustainable improvement of maternal and newborn health in low- and middle-income countries.
