GENGREEN EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS Programme Title: Eco-Sports Leadership Workshops

Target Group: Youth aged 18–30, involved in sports, education, or environmental initiatives, volunteers, and grassroots sports organisers.

Organisation: Budapest Association for International Sports (BAIS)

Duration: 2–3 days (or 3 half-day sessions)

Summary Conducting workshops that equip participants with the skills to organise and lead eco-friendly sport events. Topics include sustainable event planning, waste reduction strategies, and community engagement. These workshops aim to foster leadership qualities while emphasising environmental responsibility.

Description Methodology: Interactive workshops combine theoretical learning and hands-on group tasks. Activities include expert presentations, case studies, role-playing, group work, and guided planning sessions for sustainable sports events. Content Overview: Introduction to sustainability in sports (carbon footprint, environmental impact). Sustainable event planning: transport, materials, catering, and energy use. Waste reduction and circular economy strategies. Engaging local communities and stakeholders. Leadership skills: communication, team coordination, and impact evaluation. Objectives 1.Equip participants with leadership skills to organise and lead eco-friendly sports events. 2.Increase awareness about sustainable practices in the context of sports. 3.Foster a sense of responsibility and initiative in youth to take climate-conscious actions in their communities.

Challenges 1.Complexity of sustainable planning: Understanding the full scope of sustainability (logistics, materials, energy, etc.) can initially feel overwhelming. 2. Balancing environmental and practical considerations: Participants may find it challenging to identify solutions that are both cost-effective and sustainable. 3. Group dynamics: Collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds can present communication and decision-making challenges.

Impact Participants gain concrete tools to plan and implement sustainable sports activities. Participants create sample eco-sports event plans. Strengthened leadership and teamwork skills. Increased motivation to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours.
