Blog Journal

Hey, welcome to my blog journal where I will be uploading everything I get up too whilst on my placement at Red Run. I will be posting updates, moodboards, shoot days and different jobs that I will be doing. I will also be posting vlogs on my instagram page like behind the scenes and day in the lifes.

For my placement I am going to be spending my time at Red Run which is an activewear brand based in Liverpool. Red Run is inspired by the retro vibes of the 80s/90s sportswear era combined with trend-led streetwear. They offer good quality, bold and unique products to their consumers, providing full outfit provision for those who seek an effortless pre-styled look.

I created this moodboard before my meeting with Redrun to get more of an understanding of the vibe and style of the brand.

WEEK 1 11th Sept

First, I helped with packing orders, as there were quite a lot to process from the sale. My role was to check that the order form matched the items, such as the sizes and colours, before packing them neatly. It was interesting to see their stockroom and how they keep track of orders.

I then went up to the office, where I met the team, everyone was lovely. They showed me their upcoming collections and explained that they work a year in advance, so they are currently designing pieces for next July. They release four collections each year: Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4. Right now, they are finalising Q3, which is their autumn/ winter collection and will be launching soon.

After seeing all of the new collections I was given the task to help with ideas for their upcoming autunm/winter shoot. The brand manager told me that she had an idea of the girls shoot to be in a log cabin in a forest and have a cosy aestetic and the boys shoot to be outside in the forest like a hiking aestetic. It was thhen my job to build on this idea for the shoots, so I created some moodboards to show the aestetic and vibes of the shoot and also started to come up with some styling peices to go with the collection.

Location of shoot

Aestetic of shoot

To find inspo, I looked through Pinterest and explored other brands with similar autumn-themed shoots to get ideas for how the shoot could look. I also thought of some props that could be used in the shoot to add to the aestetic.

Styling peices

I came up with some styling ideas and accessories that would complement the new collection. With Red Run, the focus is more on finding the right trainers or accessories to match, since they already have all the clothing pieces. The styling is more about showing which items from the collection work well together and how they can be styled in different ways to create a cooler look.

• New balance trainers

• Solaman trainers

• Birkenstocks

• Duffle bags

• Light lense glasses

• Headbands

• Cap & scarf

• Headphones

• Check shirt around waiste

• Thick scarf

I have been creating my moodboards on photoshop then uplaoding them on a canva presentation as that is what they work on, it also allows me to share the link with the manager so she can look at it and edit too.

Video inspo

Camera stays in same position, model does different poses. Could have her in a different outfit for each shot.

Different shots around the cabin with and without model Shots with model could be half of her body to show sneak peaks.

I explored video content ideas that would work well for the shoot and for the social media feed. I found examples on Instagram and other brands pages, focusing on content that matched the aesthetic of the shoot.

WEEK 1 12th Sept

Styling the womens collection

Because there are so many items in the collection I thought it would be good to do 2 outdoor looks that would be shot outside of the cabin and 2 indoor looks to be shot inside of the cabin. These were the looks I created:

• Layering

• Layering

• Hoodie tied around waiste

• Cap with scarf

• Oversized pinstripe blazer with shoulder

• Shirt tied around waiste

• Headband

• Some posing lifting up t-shirt on one side to see the sports bra

• Hoodie around shoulders

I created all of these looks on photoshop, as it allowed me to cut out the different peices from the collection and pair them with other items.

Posing inspo

I also gathered posing inspiration for both indoor and outdoor shots. The poses fit well with the brand theme while also reflecting the cosy aesthetic. I tried to find poses that are suitable for the model to be doing in the collection items. I know from previous projects that having posing inspo for each look is really helpful and makes the shoot run smoother and so that the model has an understanding of the looks and shots we are trying to acheive.

I also looked at some more content indeas that I think will look good on the instagram feed or website that could be shot if we have extra time left on the shoot.

WEEK 2 18th Sept

Ideas for the mens collection

Red Run is also launching two menswear collections for autumn/winter. The manager mentioned that she wants the men’s collection shoot to take place in a forest, so I created a moodboard to capture the aesthetic. I also suggested trainers that would complement the collection, along with video content ideas and posing inspiration for the shoot.

Styling the men’s collections

• One shot in just t-shirt and jacket

• Another shot with zip up and jacket

• Shot with jacket tied around waiste

Styling the menswear collections was a new experience for me, since I’m so used to working with womenswear and had never styled for men before. I actually really enjoyed it, and I’m happy with how the looks came together.

• One shot with jumper on

Extra content ideas

I also found some extra content ideas on pinterest that we could do in the men’s shoot if we have some extra time. I think these examples would look good on their socials.

After planning the A/W shoot, the manager asked me to source imagery for the brand guidelines. These guidelines outline the brand’s purpose, mission, values, vision, and story. My role was to find visuals that aligned with these elements for both the mainline and active shoots.

Imagery photography style (women

My first concept for the mainline shoot was a ‘cool girl’ aesthetic, with an effortless, everyday vibe, like walking down the street or crossing the road.

Imagery photography style (women

My second concept for the mainline shoot os focused on a more relaxed vibe, highlighting how activewear is often worn as loungewear, effortless and everyday, with a comfortable at home feel.

Imagery photography style (women

The concept for the activewear shoot was inspired by the ‘pilates girl’ lifestyle, capturing moments like leaving a class or grabbing a coffee. I drew a lot of inspiration from brands such as Adanola and Tala, as this reflects the vibe Red Run aims to achieve for their activewear shoot

Imagery photography style (men mainline)

The concept for the men’s mainline shoot is the same idea as the women’s, with an effortless, everyday vibe, capturing moments like walking through the city streets or crossing the road.

Imagery photography style (men ecom)

The concept for the men’s ecom shoot is a clean, minimal studio setting that keeps the spotlight on the clothing. The styling reflects an effortless, everyday aesthetic, combining sporty, casual, and lifestyle elements. Neutral or soft-toned backdrops to maintain consistency across imagery, while still giving that elevated look.

Influencer guidelines

The influencer guidelines were created to introduce influencers to Red Run as a brand and outline the key considerations they should keep in mind when creating content. These included ensuring logo visibility, mixing and matching with garments and accessories, the type of content to create, and what elements to highlight. I typed up paragraphs explaining these points, with help from the manager, and then added inspiration and examples from previous influencers who had worked with Red Run to give a clear idea of the style and quality of content the brand is looking for.

Who We Are ?

Red Run embodies the latest trends, offering premium, active streetwear. The brand’s core values revolve around fashion forward designs paired with multi-functionality, versatility and high-quality materials.

WEEK 3 25th Sept

This week we began working on the upcoming Q1 collections, which will launch in January. I was shown the final designs and asked to create an initial moodboard to gather ideas for the photoshoot. My manager suggested holding the shoot in a studio rather than outdoors to avoid potential issues with weather and other variables on the day. I put together a moodboard focusing on the aesthetic, backdrops, posing and props for both the women’s and men’s shoots.

Women’s:

Men’s:

I put together these moodboards on a shared Canva presentation with my manager so she can review the ideas and add slides as well. I found the inspiration on Pinterest. I really love the dark backdrop with a bright light on the model as I think it will really compliment the collection.

Finding models

I was then asked to source potential models for the Q1 shoot. When selecting them, I focused on finding individuals who would complement the collection and its overall aesthetic, while also ensuring they would feel comfortable wearing the pieces. I researched through agencies such as J’dore Model Agency, Nemesis, and MOT considering both male and female models. I chose a variety of options with different skin tones and hair colours to provide a diverse selection for the shoot.

Influences

Next, I researched potential influencers we could send items from the new collection to for content creation. I selected influencers whose style and posts I personally like and feel align well with the brand. I’ve included a mix of UKbased influencers and some specifically from Liverpool, giving us a strong range of options to choose from. UK based:
