Hats off to National Simultaneous Storytime Isaac kids joined more than half a million children across Australia to read ‘I Got this Hat’ for the 2016 National Simultaneous Storytime.
National Simultaneous Storytime is organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, and is in its 16th year.
The book, by Jol and Kate Temple and illustrated by Jon Foye, was the feather in the cap for events held nationally on Wednesday May 25.
The event promotes the value of reading and literacy, the importance of Australia’s book industry and the role libraries play in our communities.
Parents and children enjoyed activities from creating crazy hats to reading throughout the week.

Crowds flock to agricultural extravaganza Cattle sales to wood chopping, pig racing to pavilion displays, all the old favourites returned for this year’s Clermont Show - the Isaac Region’s Show.
“Each year Clermont comes alive with the buzz of the Show, and we couldn’t do it without the support of all involved,” he said.
Now in its 148th year, the much-loved event proved it’s still a crowd pleaser with another great turnout.
“It’s exciting to celebrate business, industry and community all within the one event.”
Mayor Anne Baker said Council was pleased to be a diamond sponsor of the show.
The Clermont Show is the only agricultural show in the Isaac, held over three days each May.
“The Clermont Show is a three-day showcase of the best of rural living,” she said.

“Clermont has a small population, yet thousands from around the region make the trip to support the event.” “I think it shows what a big feat a small community can achieve.” “The woodchop competition events are always a highlight, and this year’s State of Origin Chop was taken out by NSW.” Crowd pleasers included the grand parade, big pumpkin competition, big top entertainment and the fireworks display. Kids lined up for petting zoos, working dogs entertainment and the thrill of a win at sideshow alley. Clermont Show Committee President Scott Moller thanked those who came through the gates and the strong team of volunteers and sponsors.

Big opportunities during Small Business Week Big things often have small beginnings was the message during Isaac’s Small Business Week.
Loretta Power from Power Learning attended all three Clermont workshops with high praise.
The week held a huge variety of events aimed at celebrating all things related to small businesses and entrepreneurship.
“I found myself asking, where do I start? I wanted to learn what else I could do to build my business,” she said.
Events in Moranbah, Clermont and Dysart included workshops and presentations by local guest speakers.
“The workshops not only taught me where to start, but how.”
Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac’s Small Business Week was a great success.
“They each offered something different and covered most bases.”
“We had 44 participating businesses across the region, which is an increase on last year,” she said.
Isaac’s Small Business Week was hosted by Isaac Regional Council and co-funded by the Local Buying Foundation, May 14-21.
“Participants learnt event planning basics, social media tips, marketing skills and much more.” “Given the success and interest from this week, we will be running extra sessions in the coming weeks.”

Isaac Regional Charity Fund launched and date set for Mayor’s Charity Ball A charity fund has been set up to touch hearts and minds in Isaac. Director and Mayor Anne Baker said the Isaac Regional Charity Fund (IRCF) is focused on giving back to Isaac communities.
“This year the Mayor’s Charity Ball will be raising funds for youth suicide prevention. The date for the big night under the stars is set for Saturday, October 22.” The Isaac Regional Charity Fund is a deductible gift recipient, which means it can receive tax-deductible gifts.
“Our aim is to provide a helping hand to combat key community issues.” “Our full board met for the first time last week. We’re a diverse team and excited to get started. IRCF Directors include Mayor Anne Baker, Cr Geoff Bethel, Erica Fredrickson, Ian Joblin and Therese Pitt. “The Mayor’s Charity Ball will be the fund’s signature event. In the past two years funds and awareness have been successfully raised for beyondblue and White Ribbon. “We know mental health and domestic violence are key issues for Isaac families. We also know conversations can bring positive change to communities.

First Five Forever The First Five Forever program aims to give children from birth to five years old the best chance in life and improve literacy outcomes. Babies and children love sharing stories and it’s never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child. The Clermont Library runs three children’s sessions a week and programs are aimed at helping young children develop their literacy, numeracy and language skills from a young age, through singing nursery rhymes, performing action songs and reading books. Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs.

Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level.
80’s Night This will be a quick 30 minute aerobic workout inspired by the ‘Greats’ of the 80’s. It will incorporate acerbic movement, 80’s Step Aerobics and some of the old time chain dances. It’s fitness and fun in one! Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. Metafit This is a 30 minute bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Lets lift This program has been designed to target the eight large muscle groups in a 45 minute whole body workout. This is achieved through the use of Barbell and Dumbbell weights. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Clermont Touch
It’s time again for the start of the 2016 Clermont Mixed Touch season. Thanks to everyone who’s been patiently waiting for the season to commence. We would love to see all previous teams, new teams or modified teams to ideally form an 8 team competition. Teams need to be comprised of males and females and require a minimum of 3 females on the field at all times. Mixed touch is played with 6 players per team on the field at a time with substitutes on the sidelines.
The competition is played on Wednesday evenings commencing 6.00pm, with two timeslots and will be conducted at the Clermont sportsgrounds. Each game comprises 2 halves of 20mins with approximately one 5min half time break. If you are interested in playing touch this season, gather a team together, and fill out the individual player’s registration form and once you’ve got your team together, complete the team registration form and submit it via the facebook page or in person to a committee member. If you are an individual and looking to join a team, please let yourself be known on the facebook page or contact one of the touch committee members below. Team registration is $600 per team. This covers affiliation, insurance and running fees associated with the season.
