Un-Bee-lievable photography in Colours of Isaac Busy bees, tranquil waters and the simple things in life inspired the Colours of Isaac photography competition winners.
“I would like to thank everyone who entered Colours of Isaac this year and congratulate our winners.
Voting by ‘likes’ on the Isaac Regional Council Facebook page, which saw Clermont bee keeper Joanne Knobel take out first place.
The Colours of Isaac photography competition is run as part of the St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend.
Mrs Knobel said it was her love of bees that inspired her entry to the competition. “I’ve been taking photos for about seven years as a hobby and I love to capture our busy bees at Knobel Honey.” “I thought my image was something a bit different and showcased the beauty of our local wildlife.” “It was fantastic to win the competition and I am overwhelmed by the community support, considering all the amazing entries that were submitted.” Mayor Anne Baker said all entries captured the beauty and variety of Isaac. “From stunning sun rises, to the rich and colourful flora and fauna, the images were truly inspired.

The Clermont Show – The Isaac Region’s Show has displayed a wide variety of talent from across the region in the past.
This is sure to bring out some old momentous belongings and bring back many memories and stories.
With displays of the most amazing photography, high-quality artwork, the freshest fruit and vegetables and detailed patchworking you can find. It’s easy to understand how a few hours can fly by when wandering through the Pavilion.
The Collector’s Corner is a new division introduced by the Show Committee with the theme of ‘Tea-Pots and Tea-Cosies’.
Whether it is looking for your own work or picking out entries submitted by friends and family, the Clermont Show gives the people of the Isaac Region and beyond an opportunity to compete, display and view their many and varied talents, as well as experience a great family day of education, entertainment and enjoyment. Have you taken a spectacular photo lately? Perhaps you enjoy cooking? Maybe your children would enjoy the creative challenge of constructing an animal using vegetables or fruit or making a floral saucer in sand? Is your garden producing wonderful vegetables, flowers or herbs? The variety of Pavilion exhibits is enormous and includes Horticulture, Home Produce, Schoolwork, Floral Art, Handicrafts, Scrapbooking, Fine Arts, Cookery, Needlework, Photography, the updated Bygone Era (display only) and a new section, the Collector’s Corner – enough sections for everyone to be involved! The previous Venerable division has been replaced with the Bygone Era and will feature a display of any items related to the 1916 Clermont Flood.
To ensure a diverse display of local produce, as well as providing an interesting spectacle of local talent, you as a member of the Isaac community are encouraged to become involved in your local show. Promoting the Isaac Region Weather theme, this year the Pavilion Schoolwork division explores the impact on how weather can affect the climate of our region. Activities range from ‘a picture of a rainy or sunny day’ for the pre-preps, or for the Year 2 students, who need to draw two pictures – one before the drought and one after the drought, the creation of an acrostic poem using the word ‘Drought’ with a picture included for the Year 3 students, to creating a 3D weather vane for Year 6. We are sure to see some creative, artistic and thoughtful entries throughout the Schoolwork section in 2016. Please be aware that in the printed versions of the Pavilion Schedule, there was a slight error in the closing times for the Photography section. Photography entries will close 3.15pm Monday May 16. Meals on Wheels at Clermont Show

The Committee of Meals on Wheels does not normally fund raise as our costs are kept low by the generous volunteers who give their time as deliverers. Recently we have experienced several increases in the price of our meals that we feel we can not pass onto clients. So this year for the first time, Meals on Wheels will be represented at the Clermont Show with a table in the Pavilion where tickets in a raffle of towels and accessories will be on sale. Meals on Wheels provides an invaluable service to the aged and temporarily and permanently disabled so we look forward to the community in supporting us in this venture.

Isaac youth were encouraged to ‘Be the Future’ during National Youth Week recently, with a quirky anime drawing competition held across the region. Secondary students embraced the competition with a number of outstanding entries submitted, prompting the judges to expand the competition to include two winners and two runners up. The talented winners, Ivy Winkler of Clermont State High School and Phoenix Saron of Dysart High School will receive $150 gift cards for their efforts. Runners up, Sophie Reyes of Moranbah State High School and Cody Cornwell of Glenden State School will receive $50 gift cards. Isaac Regional Council congratulates all entrants for their unique and inspired anime characters, and is pleased the region is home to such talented young artists. Isaac celebrated National Youth Week (April 8 – 17) with the screening of two critically acclaimed anime films, Howl’s Moving Castle and ‘Princess Mononoke. Both films carry the key message of encouraging young people to take control of their destiny; a great fit for the youth week theme and an opportunity for young people to explore the anime genre. National Youth Week (NYW) is the largest single celebration of young people on the Australian calendar. Run annually since 2000 NYW is a joint initiative between Australian, state, territory and local governments.

Setting up has already started for the annual Monster Car Boot Sale and Trash and Treasure to be held on Saturday May 21 at the Anglican Hall. The breakfast barbecue will commence at 7.30am and the hall will open at the same time for the sale of items donated to the Church for sale. The hall will close at 1.30pm. Morning tea will be served in the hall from 9.30am. Spaces will be available at a cost of $10 per site outside the hall to set up stalls. It is not necessary to book but sites may be reserved by ringing Margaret 4983 1406. If it is wet, the event will continue inside the Hall. The hall will be open to receive donated items on Friday May 12, Thursday 19 or Friday May 20 in the morning. Delivery can be made earlier by arrangement with Margaret on the above number. It’s a chance to clean out your cupboards and all wares will be gratefully received.
We already have an interesting array of second hand items, some unused, and it will be well worth a visit to browse. Sale items range from a full set of Encyclopaedia Britannica (plus most of the Year Journals from 1963 to 1995) to vintage butter dishes to children’s toys. This year we have a great array of costume jewellery. We will also have the usual “give away” table where the odd treasure can be found. We have hundreds and hundreds of books to suit every taste. Most of these will be sold for $1 with one table of “fill a bag” for $5. We also have some interesting sites already booked outside the hall, including an extensive plant stall. Anyone able to help with either the setting up of the hall or on the day is very welcome and should once again contact Margaret.

Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age. Rip Group Rx A high intensity strength conditioning class using barbell and light weights. 45-1 hour in duration. Bring towel and water bottle! $16.50 casual/free for members. Rip Express is a 45min major muscle group workout. THUMP boxing for fitness 1 hour free for members. Beginners L1 run Wednesday nights 6pm. You will learn breathing exercises and positions that can help improve arthritic symptoms, insomnia, blood pressure, mood and aid with relaxation and flexibility. There are many benefits of Yoga, this class is suitable for pregnant women, screening will be conducted prior to participation. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training.

It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Lets lift circuit Resistance Circuit works on the principle of Circuit Training with stations broken down into a lower and upper body weights workout, using the subscription of low weights high repetition to develop a challenging total body workout, ensuring lean muscle mass gains.
