contributed by Sarge The rain again seems to be keeping people quiet on every front. Lately the town comes alive at about dinner time when everyone is scooting home, so not too many incidents to report around the traps. Emergency services responded to a semi-trailer rollover on the Gregory Highway last week in the early hours of the morning. The trailer was full of furniture bound for Townsville when it flipped onto its side after a little instability caused by the road surface. The driver was alright and Clermont Crane Hire had the road cleared quickly. Many thanks to the Clermont Firies and the Troopers from the local SES for helping clean up the mess. Some breakthroughs on the weapons licence fronts. This seems to be coming good with people opting for the ten year licence. Not so many people are finding they have an expired licence which is when we have to take their guns off of them. Just keep a reminder on the fridge, together with driver’s licences, medical forms, registrations and the like. If you keep on top of it we don’t have to be the big nasty people that remind you! Still looking for information concerning some damaged roadworks signs on the Clermont Alpha Road near Cremorne station. If anyone has heard any whispers concerning this matter please pass on the information to Police Link 131 444. Also some cattle still missing on the Laglan Road around Two Mile Gully. Any information on these cattle would be appreciated. Possibly a black steer and some brindle stock.

No we are not going to put their pictures on the side of the milk cartons like in the movies, that would be insensitive!! Finally some feedback to the community about breath testing. We are getting some negative comments about when people are getting breath tested on the streets of Clermont and in the surrounding area. One woman commented to myself that she had been breath tested a lot more in Clermont than when she lived on the Sunshine Coast. This is probably right and people should be confident in the fact that the testing is being completed around the division. Police work involves a lot of things people don’t like and a recent drink driver I apprehended early one morning commented that I had just cost him his job. Did I just cost him his job, or did he? I know the answer, but I also got him off the road before he may have killed or seriously injured someone. Similarly a vehicle was intercepted at the dam the other night with children in the back unrestrained due to overloading and no seats and belts available. This is also unacceptable. It may only be a short drive from the showers to the marina but anything can happen and there would be serious consequences for everyone involved. The roads at the dam are gazetted roads so all the laws apply. Anyway enough doom and gloom, enjoy the rain, (no hooning) and will see you all around the traps. The Sarge.

‘Doggone’ factory baits are available outside of these times, orders must be made in advance and delivery is approximately three weeks from order date.

‘Doggone’ baits are supplied ‘at cost’. Prices will be confirmed at the time of ordering and baits will not be released before payment has been made to Council.

Children love Baby Bounce, Storytime, Craft and Rhymetime Have you recently moved to Clermont with a young family and want to meet other young families. The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these are a good way to connect with other parents with young children. Rhymetime and Craft is held from 9.30am to 10am every Tuesday for children up to five years old, where they can sing and dance to nursery rhyme songs. Baby Bounce is held on Thursday from 9.30am to 10am and is aimed at children aged up to two years. Baby Bounce is a chance for parents to interact with their child through movement, music and song. Storytime and Craft time for the littlies is held at the Clermont Library every Friday from 9.30am to 10.30am and caters for children up to Prep age. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Aqua Fit An excellent fitness class in the water for all ages groups and fitness levels, the class is a combination of deep water and shallow water aquatic exercises designed to improve flexibility, aerobic capacity, muscular strength and endurance. Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness.
