GUEST ARTIST

Over the past 25 years, Texas music legend Dave Alexander has established himself as one of today’s most sought-after Country and Western Swing performers.

The multi-instrumentalist and four-time Grammy nominee has gained national notoriety as a musician, writer, arranger, composer, performer, and conductor while mesmerizing his audiences with each performance as a World Class Entertainer.

When Dave is not performing with his own award-winning Big Texas Swing Band, you’ll find him touring and recording with such artists as George Strait, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Sheryl Crow, Asleep At The Wheel, Tracy Byrd, Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, and LeAnn Rimes.

As an established conductor and music director, Dave continues in his 12th season at the podium with The Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, helping to raise over 22 million dollars for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Other musical directorships include 22 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, La Fiesta de las sies Banderas (Highland Park Debutante Ball), Southern Methodist University, The Houston Rodeo, The National Finals Rodeo, and The Tyler Rose Festival.

Dave has been inducted into numerous Halls of Fame, including the Texas Western Swing Hall. He currently holds the honor of having received the most Will Rogers Awards (6) by a single artist from the Academy Of Western Artists, including Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, Two–Time Group of the Year, Song of the Year and Entertainer Of The Year. He recently received a Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for his album “From The Saddle To Symphony Hall” for the 2023 Outstanding Traditional Music Album of The Year.

In 2017, Alexander premiered his Western Symphonic Works with the Big Spring Symphony in Big Spring, Texas, featuring his own compositions along with Texas Music and Western Swing favorites.

The family motto was

“Every player should teach, and every teacher should play. ” says Alexander. In keeping with the family tradition, Dave’s teaching credits include The University of North Texas, North Central Texas College, Arts Magnet High School at Booker T. Washington in Dallas, Texas, and The Bob Wills Western Swing School of Music, established by Dave in 2012.

Now residing on his ranch in North Texas with his wife Sherri, Alexander began his life in music at age 4 when his father Ashley enrolled him in his 5th-grade band class in Pernell, Oklahoma, primarily because there was no kindergarten at the school. He studied both classical and jazz throughout high school and went on to complete his studies at the University of North Texas in Denton.
