2020-2021 Guest Artist Pianist Mikhail Berestnev has been described as having “… flawless technique and constant inspiration…superb sonority…” (Belgian La Libre Magazine) and “…an astonishingly gifted pianist…equally at home as a soloist and collaborative pianist” (Theater Jones, U.S.) He has been featured as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony, Brazilian Symphony, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Fort Worth Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, Meadows Symphony, and “Metropolitan Winds,” among others. Mikhail has also performed as a recitalist at the Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and International Music House in Moscow, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Flagey Theater in Brussels, Sydney Opera House, “English Hall” at the Saint-Petersburg Music House, Moody Performance Hall and Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Dallas. Awards include Fourth Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia, Silver Medal at the BNDES International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro, Eric Sorantin Young Artist Award, Harold von Mickwitz Piano Award from Meadows School of Arts at SMU and Judith Solomon Piano Award in Chamber Music from TCU School of Music. He is First Prize Winner at the International “Delphic Games” Competition (Minsk, Belarus) and Winner at the International Piano Competition named after Stanislav Neuhaus (Chelyabinsk, Russia). In chamber music Mikhail shared the stage with violinists Emanuel Borok, Aaron Boyd, Eunice Keem, Hubert Pralitz, Mai Ke, pianist Andrei Ponochevny, French Hornist David Alan Cooper, “Seraphim-Trio” (Melbourne, Australia) and Julius String Quartet (U.S.). In July of 2019 he made his debut at the “Basically Beethoven Music Festival” in Dallas playing together with violinist Grace Wollet and clarinetist Danny Goldman where the group was described by Dallas Morning News as: “…The ensemble’s style fit the character of the music like a tailored suit…”. From September 2019 the group has been playing together around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and known as Trio MAKE. Mikhail holds degrees from the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnessins in Moscow, Texas Christian University School of Music in Fort Worth and Meadows School of Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He studied with Professors Irina Grebyonkina, Andrei Khitruk, Alexei Skavronski, Vladimir Tropp, Dr. Tamas Ungar and Joaquin Achucarro. Mikhail Berestnev is a Guest Artist and Collaborative Pianist with the “Musica Nova Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra” at the University of Texas at Dallas, School of Arts and Humanities, under the direction of renowned composer Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez.

Hector Guzmán
Music Director and Conductor
Hector Guzmán is music director/ conductor of the Irving, Plano, San Angelo, and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestras in the USA. He is also “Conductor Emeritus” of the Jalisco Philharmonic in Mexico. He has also achieved an impressive reputation as an organist by winning top prizes in several national and international competitions, including the “Grand Prix de Chartres,” the world’s most prestigious organ competition. Often sought as a guest conductor, appearances have taken him around the world including throughout the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Europe and greater Asia regions. He is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Mexico City, the University of North Texas, and Southern Methodist University. His teachers include luminaries such as Victor Urban, Alfred Mouledous, Robert Anderson, Carlo Maria Giulini, Helmuth Rilling, and his mentor Maestro Anshel Brusilow, as well as the late Maestro Eduardo Mata. Maestro Guzmán has accorded several prestigious honors including the “Meadows” Award, DeVry University’s “Director per Excellence” Award, and “Good Citizenship Medal” in the US, Mexico’s “Outstanding National Young Artist” Award, “Golden Lyre” Award, “Artistic Silver Medal,” Austria’s Embassy, “Mozart Medal.”

Other recognitions include a 2000 listing as an “Outstanding Musicians of the 21st Century” magazine, published by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, 2012 “Man of the Year” Award by NYC’s Madison’s Who’s Who, 2012 North Texas Chapter of “For the Love of Art” Lifetime Achievement Award, 2014 “Distinguished Member Award” by the international musical fraternity “Sigma Alpha Iota,” 2017 Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce “Diversity Award for Arts and Culture,” and the 2018 Distinguished Mexican Artist award by the Mexican government for distinguished musical accomplishments outside of Mexico.
