2020-2021 Guest Artists Steve Amerson has established a reputation as an excellent tenor with a vocal f lexibility that allows him to feel at home in both popular/contemporary music and classical literature. With a wealth and depth of performance experience, Steve is known as America’s Tenor. Steve has been a featured soloist with major symphonies in the United States and abroad. He was selected as one of three tenors chosen to record demonstration tracks used by Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras in preparation for their “The 3 Tenors” performances throughout the world. His voice can be heard on over 175 feature films and numerous television shows including La La Land, Star Wars Rogue One, Tomorrowland, Jurassic World, Star Trek Into Darkness, Godzilla, Pacific Rim, Get Smart, Matrix Revolutions, Matrix Reloaded, King Kong, Fantastic Four, The Patriot, Amistad, Contact, Indiana Jones; Temple of Doom, Glory, Home Alone, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, The Hunt for Red October, as well as numerous commercials. Since 2006, Steve has performed for Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and Society events throughout the United States and at the dedication of the Medal of Honor Museum onboard the USS Yorktown in Charleston. In 2009, Steve was presented the “Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment” by the Medal of Honor Society. Steve sings for events supporting military families for The Gary Sinise Foundation, and American Airlines SkyBall and Snowball Express events. Laurie Gayle Stephenson made her Broadway debut in the Tony award winning The Secret Garden where she performed the role of Lily. She starred for two years on Broadway as Christine Daae in Phantom Of The Opera, and made her debut as Christine in Phantom with the first national touring company at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Laurie was an original cast member of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in Concert. She toured the U.S. singing opposite Michael Crawford and made her debut in London’s West End at The Palladium with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Laurie has other numerous accolades for worldwide performances including one of four Broadway stars chosen to perform Hello Broadway with The Bolshoi Symphony in Moscow. Laurie can currently be heard on several cast albums as well as Bravo Broadway I, Bravo Broadway II, her solo album Till You Find Your Dream and her new release of I Believe My Heart – Love Duets with All My Leading Men. Hector Guzmán
Music Director and Conductor
Hector Guzmán is music director/ conductor of the Irving, Plano, San Angelo, and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestras in the USA. He is also “Conductor Emeritus” of the Jalisco Philharmonic in Mexico. He has also achieved an impressive reputation as an organist by winning top prizes in several national and international competitions, including the “Grand Prix de Chartres,” the world’s most prestigious organ competition. Often sought as a guest conductor, appearances have taken him around the world including throughout the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Europe and greater Asia regions. He is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Mexico City, the University of North Texas, and Southern Methodist University. His teachers include luminaries such as Victor Urban, Alfred Mouledous, Robert Anderson, Carlo Maria Giulini, Helmuth Rilling, and his mentor Maestro Anshel Brusilow, as well as the late Maestro Eduardo Mata. Maestro Guzmán has accorded several prestigious honors including the “Meadows” Award, DeVry University’s “Director per Excellence” Award, and “Good Citizenship Medal” in the US, Mexico’s “Outstanding National Young Artist” Award, “Golden Lyre” Award, “Artistic Silver Medal,” Austria’s Embassy, “Mozart Medal.”

Other recognitions include a 2000 listing as an “Outstanding Musicians of the 21st Century” magazine, published by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, 2012 “Man of the Year” Award by NYC’s Madison’s Who’s Who, 2012 North Texas Chapter of “For the Love of Art” Lifetime Achievement Award, 2014 “Distinguished Member Award” by the international musical fraternity “Sigma Alpha Iota,” 2017 Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce “Diversity Award for Arts and Culture,” and the 2018 Distinguished Mexican Artist award by the Mexican government for distinguished musical accomplishments outside of Mexico.
