With a career spanning three decades, three Grammy Awards, 20 million albums sold, and starring roles on Broadway and roles on TV, the acclaimed, romantic sounds of Jon Secada have resulted in numerous hits in English and Spanish—establishing him as one of the first bilingual artists to have international crossover success. Adored by millions worldwide, he is recognized as a global superstar by fans and peers alike for his soulful and melodic voice. In 2017, Secada returned to the stage, bringing to life a heartfelt tribute to Beny Moré, one of Cuba’s most beloved icons. Produced by Julio Bagué with the support of Peer Music and in the company of the Charlie Sepulveda Big Band, “. . . To Beny Moré With Love” finds the CubanAmerican artist re-recording 10 of Moré’s timeless classics, arranged by none other than Ray Santos. Jon’s latest album release SOLOS, in collaboration with worldrenowned pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, received a Latin Grammy nomination in 2021. Beyond his own hits, Jon is widely recognized for his impeccable music producing and songwriting skills. Over the years, Secada has written, cowritten, and co-produced for several acclaimed vocal artists such as Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Mandy Moore, and Alejandro Fernandez. In addition, he has toured and collaborated alongside opera legend Luciano Pavarotti and recorded duets with Jim Brickman, Grammy winner Olivia Newton-John and the iconic Frank Sinatra. He has also collaborated in many movie soundtracks such as Dance with Me, Disney’s Pocahontas, Empire, Chasing Papi, and Zorro.
Secada’s impact goes beyond music as he has devoted himself to assisting various charitable groups worldwide through his organization, “Jon Secada Charities.” He has been active with many causes to help Hispanic Americans, children’s education, AIDS research, and child abuse. In addition, Jon created a music scholarship at the University of Miami and supported U.S. military veterans across the country by headlining the “Miami Rocks The Troops” benefit concert. He is a devoted family man celebrating 25 years of marriage with his wife Maritere and raising two children— daughter Mikaela Nina and son Jon Henri.

Hector Guzmán Music Director and Conductor
Hector Guzmán is music director/ conductor of the Irving, Plano, San Angelo, and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestras in the USA. He is also “Conductor Emeritus” of the Jalisco Philharmonic in Mexico. He has also achieved an impressive reputation as an organist by winning top prizes in several national and international competitions, including the “Grand Prix de Chartres,” the world’s most prestigious organ competition. Often sought as a guest conductor, appearances have taken him around the world including throughout the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Europe and greater Asia regions. He is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Mexico City, the University of North Texas, and Southern Methodist University. His teachers include luminaries such as Victor Urban, Alfred Mouledous, Robert Anderson, Carlo Maria Giulini, Helmuth Rilling, and his mentor Maestro Anshel Brusilow, as well as the late Maestro Eduardo Mata. Maestro Guzmán has accorded several prestigious honors including the “Meadows” Award, DeVry University’s “Director per Excellence” Award, and “Good Citizenship Medal” in the US, Mexico’s “Outstanding National Young Artist” Award, “Golden Lyre” Award, “Artistic Silver Medal,” Austria’s Embassy, “Mozart Medal.”

Other recognitions include a 2000 listing as an “Outstanding Musicians of the 21st Century” magazine, published by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, 2012 “Man of the Year” Award by NYC’s Madison’s Who’s Who, 2012 North Texas Chapter of “For the Love of Art” Lifetime Achievement Award, 2014 “Distinguished Member Award” by the international musical fraternity “Sigma Alpha Iota,” 2017 Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce “Diversity Award for Arts and Culture,” and the 2018 Distinguished Mexican Artist award by the Mexican government for distinguished musical accomplishments outside of Mexico.

The characters – boy, bird, duck, cat, grandfather, wolf, hunters – and their doings have been beloved by younger and older audiences since introduced by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. The ISO proudly carried on this tradition much to the delight of an engaged audience. From the classic of the past to dreams of the future and outer space, the orchestra and ballet showcase came together for a beautiful afternoon of sensory delight, emotional joy and patriotism.
