Dear Friends, It is my great pleasure to share with you this year’s edition of Irvine Barclay Theatre’s Year in Review. As the staff and I wrap up the celebration of the Barclay’s 35th season, we want to express our gratitude to all of you for helping make this festive season one of the venue’s most successful ever. This Year in Review is a snapshot of old friends, new faces, and inspiring performances that showcase everything about the 2025-26 season that makes an evening at the Barclay a uniquely memorable experience. This 35th season made clear that the vision articulated by the venue’s founders at its opening in 1990 has been fully realized. A very active venue – now operating at close to 90% capacity; providing a home for local organizations and businesses – more than 150 community activities this past season; bringing the best in international touring attractions to Orange County – a 50-event Irvine Barclay Theatre presenting season with 25 sold-out performances; serving audiences of all ages – more than 100,000 tickets sold to all the events in the hall. It’s a record of which we believe the founders would be proud. Your generosity - as ticket buyers, as donors, as volunteers, as community advocates, or any combination of these - has been instrumental in making the Barclay a beloved Orange County performing arts institution for 35 years. The Barclay’s staff and Board of Directors also thank our public partners – the City of Irvine and UC Irvine – whose investment in the Barclay brought the theater to life and continues to place the performing arts front and center in Orange County’s civic life. Whether this past season with the Barclay was your first, or your fifteenth, please know it is your energy, enthusiasm, and support that transform the Barclay from simply a building into Orange County’s intimate home for the performing arts. A SHARED VISION FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AND CIVIC LIFE
AN ENDURING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF IRVINE For more than three decades, the City of Irvine and Irvine Barclay Theatre have shared a unique partnership dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the community through the performing arts. Owned by the City of Irvine and operated by the Irvine Barclay Theatre Operating Company, the facility serves as both a premier regional arts destination and a welcoming civic gathering place for residents, students, educators, and community organizations throughout Orange County.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY ACCESS A core component of the Barclay’s mission is ensuring that local community organizations have access to a professional performing arts venue. Approximately 50% of the Barclay’s annual activity is dedicated to rental events presented by local schools, nonprofits, and community-based organizations. While facility rental fees cover roughly 35% of the operational cost of these activities, the City of Irvine helps bridge the gap by supporting the Barclay’s discounted rental program for Irvine-based nonprofit organizations — contributing approximately 15% of the remaining cost and helping to sustain equitable access to the arts for the broader community.
WHERE FAMILIES DISCOVER THE PERFORMING ARTS The Barclay is proud to recognize the City of Irvine’s continued underwriting support of the annual Family Series, helping to make high-quality arts experiences accessible to audiences of all ages. This season’s series welcomed thousands of families to performances of The Magic School Bus – The Musical, Tanzanite African Acrobats, Dinosaur World Live, and Puppy Pals Live, inspiring imagination, curiosity, and joy for the next generation of arts patrons.

The City of Irvine's continued support of dance programming helps sustain one of the Barclay's defining artistic traditions. For decades, the Barclay has earned a reputation as one of Southern California's premier destinations for dance, presenting celebrated companies and innovative choreographers from around the world, while cultivating a deep appreciation for the art form within our community. This season's performances reflected that enduring commitment, welcoming Limón Dance Company, Ignite Dance: A Celebration of 35 Years of Dance in Orange County, Flamenco Arts International: Songs from a Sinking Ship, and the inventive athleticism of Pilobolus.

DONOR PROFILE TOM ROGERS & SALLY ANDERSON It's the evening of a Barclay Jazz & Beyond concert at Irvine Barclay Theatre and, as has been the case for the past several years, Tom Rogers and Sally Anderson can be found greeting friends in the lobby or sharing conversation and camaraderie in the Jade Room before the performance. Tom and Sally’s presence at the Barclay, however, is about more than their great love for the band. It reflects their deep belief in the power of live performances to bring communities together.

For Tom and Sally, supporting the performing arts is about creating opportunities for discovery and cultivating shared experiences. As founding members of the Barclay Premier Patron Society and familiar faces at performances across a wide range of genres, they have witnessed firsthand the excitement that extraordinary artists bring to the Barclay stage.
"The Barclay creates the kind of experience that's becoming increasingly rare," Tom says. "You're close to the artists, you're sharing the moment with the audience around you, and you leave feeling connected not only to the performance, but to the community as well."
Tom and Sally’s philosophy of community has shaped their broader philanthropic involvement throughout Orange County for decades. Together, they have strengthened organizations dedicated to the performing arts, to education, to healthcare, and to community service. In the process, they have become widely respected for a practice of philanthropy that is rooted in long-term commitment and active engagement. Tom has been involved with Memorial Health Services (MHS), the four-hospital healthcare system, for more than twenty years. MHS provides a full range of healthcare services through more than two hundred locations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. He has also been affiliated with Orange County United Way for more than 30 years, helping to advance initiatives that expand access to essential services for local individuals and families. Drawing on his leadership experiences from Security Pacific Bank, The Irvine Company, and City National Bank, Tom has helped guide financial strategies that continue to benefit these organizations. Sally also has brought remarkable leadership skills to her professional and philanthropic work. As a Managing Partner at Ernst & Young, she built a distinguished career while also helping launch Orange County United Way's Women's Philanthropy Fund, an initiative that continues to support women and children throughout the county. Sally’s commitment to the performing arts has been equally significant, serving in leadership roles with Pacific Symphony, including as board chair, where she helped guide one of Orange County's most important cultural institutions. Together, the couple has also supported the Orange County Museum of Art. Through their involvement with these and many other organizations, Tom and Sally have expanded opportunities for engagement, learning, and cultural participation throughout Orange County. In so doing, they have been instrumental in fostering and maintaining the county’s vibrant cultural life.

Through their ongoing support of the Barclay Jazz & Beyond series, Tom and Sally are strengthening The Barclay’s long tradition of jazz presentations and helping acclaimed artists create memorable and entertaining performances. These concerts give Orange County audiences many chances to experience the finest in live performing arts in the county’s most intimate and welcoming setting. Tom and Sally have embraced the welcoming atmosphere that is a hallmark of the Barclay experience and together, they do everything in their power to make sure others can also embrace the experience.

In recognition of their decades of leadership and generosity, Tom and Sally received the 2025 Orange County United Way Legacy Medal, an award that honors individuals whose philanthropy has created lasting community impact. While Tom and Sally’s philanthropy touches all corners of Orange County, Irvine Barclay Theatre has recently become an especially meaningful part of their charitable activity. Their multi-year support as Performance Sponsors of Barclay Jazz & Beyond makes it possible for The Barclay to create new and unique programs that cannot be seen anywhere else in Orange County.
"Jazz has a unique ability to bring people together because every performance is different," Sally says. "We are proud to support Barclay's efforts to present extraordinary artists while helping cultivate an appreciation for this music among current and future audiences."

CELEBRATING 35 YEARS
Throughout the Barclay's historic anniversary season, we celebrated this milestone by honoring the visionaries who helped bring the Barclay to life, welcoming the community that has shaped our story, and showcasing the artistic excellence that continues to define our stage.
FOUNDERS DINNER The Founders Dinner paid tribute to the visionaries whose leadership transformed the dream of a world-class performing arts venue into a lasting community institution. Held on the Barclay stage, the elegant evening welcomed founding leaders, civic officials, university partners, and philanthropists. Guests reflected on the Barclay's remarkable journey through a commemorative film, while each founding member received an original auditorium sconce—a meaningful symbol of the light they helped bring to the community.
OPENING WEEKEND The anniversary season officially opened with a weekend of performances that celebrated the artistic traditions at the heart of the Barclay's identity. Audiences experienced the expressive modern dance of Limón Dance Company, the Grammy Awardwinning Hawaiian artistry of Raiatea Helm, and the genre-defying jazz of acclaimed saxophonist Joshua Redman. Together, these performances reflected the breadth and cultural diversity that have distinguished the Barclay's programming for more than three decades.
BARCLAY BLOCK PARTY The sold-out Barclay Block Party—a free community celebration that reflected the Barclay's longstanding commitment to community engagement—featured face painting, balloon artists, and a marionette theater, all capped by an electrifying performance with the local sensation, Phat Cat Swinger.

CELEBRATING OUR FRIENDS At the heart of Irvine Barclay Theatre's 35-year legacy is a community of donors whose generosity has helped sustain and strengthen the performing arts in Orange County. Their support makes it possible to present exceptional performances, expand educational opportunities, and create meaningful connections through shared cultural experiences. During this milestone anniversary season, we were proud to celebrate these dedicated supporters through a series of special gatherings that reflected our gratitude and the important role they play in the life of the Theatre.
Le Salon offered Premier Patron Society members an intimate evening on stage with the acclaimed Tord Gustavsen Trio. The evening featured thoughtful conversation, an engaging interview, and a deeply personal performance, creating a rare opportunity to experience the artists and their evocative music in an unforgettable setting. Our Donor Movie Night welcomed supporters at every giving level—and their families—for a screening of The Princess Bride. Complimentary treats, a festive costume contest, and lots of laughter created an evening of shared memories for guests of all ages. It was a small way of expressing our appreciation for the people whose collective generosity helps make the Barclay's work possible. We concluded the season at The Ecology Center, where members of our Premier Patron Society gathered alongside farmers and chefs to celebrate another successful year in a setting that celebrates sustainable agriculture and community.
We opened the season by welcoming members of our Premier Patron Society to a private reception at Viamara at The Elwood Club adjacent to Fashion Island, where they reconnected with friends and Barclay leadership in an elegant outdoor setting. One of the season's highlights was our Founders Dinner, where we honored the vision and dedication of those who helped bring Irvine Barclay Theatre to life. Guests dined on stage while reflecting on the Theatre's remarkable history and reaffirming the vision that will guide its future.
