(On our covers) The Fall/Winter 2026 issue of Washington Wedding Day has two covers. Inside each you’ll find the information you need to plan the best day ever.

“Bodice No. 13” and “Skirt No. 6” by Sept by Sarah Seven from The Dress Theory Seattle. Hair and makeup by Michelle Wight. Styled by Willa Butler. Photographed by Anastasia M. Photography at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Turn to page 60 for more details.

“THOSE WHO CAN’T WED, PLAN.”

Confession: I never wanted a wedding. I know...I know. I’m a wedding magazine editor. Just hear me out. My darling husband and I tied the knot almost 14 years ago in a very modest ceremony at Seattle’s King County Courthouse. I wore a black sheath dress and carried a small bouquet of purple calla lilies that he ordered for me because I wasn’t even certain where to get a wedding bouquet. We had friends take grainy photos on their iPhone 4. While I mostly wouldn’t change a thing, seeing the incredible feats of beauty this Washington wedding community creates on the daily definitely has me second-guessing. (For one, I didn’t even know elopement photo sessions existed.)

If you find yourself in a similar cloud of uncertainty (in my case, cluelessness) or are just in the market for the perfect planner/caterer/photographer etc., to bring your dream to life, then this Fall/Winter issue of Washington Wedding Day is your issue. In our Best of 2026 feature (page 52), you’ll discover a curated list of Washington’s most talented wedding professionals, nominated and voted on by local couples, readers and fellow industry experts. It’s truly an essential planning resource—one that past me would have consulted many, many times.

As you thumb through the rest of these inspiring pages, you’ll encounter modern, sculptural bridal fashion masterfully posed near (and in some cases under) renowned works of art at the Olympic Sculpture Park (page 60). (Special shout out to their team for snagging us a single red chair before they were all sent off for repainting!) We also traveled to the secluded, mossy grounds of Saiuen Gardens in Granite Falls, where an inviting scene (page 72) led by Sage Event Co., unfurled on a very chilly, damp day.

Don’t miss local love stories (page 111), a new speakeasy-style event space in Snohomish (page 24) and a helpful guide on what to do if you just got engaged (page 30).

It’s funny to think that planning a dream wedding was never part of my journey, but now, I have the opportunity to watch all of you work your magic, then write about it—and for me, that’s the real dream.

A SHARED IMPACT

When I look back on the year so far, what stands out most is the impact we create when we work together. From our team to our members, this community continues to inspire me. Jessi and I were thrilled to continue our work with Lauren; she has been such a great addition to the team. Her creativity, passion and enthusiasm have brought new energy to the magazine, and watching our team grow stronger together has made this a year to remember.

We kicked off 2026 by celebrating our Spring/Summer issue at the release party, Labour of Love , at Labour Temple. Planned and designed by Perfect Storm Moments, the evening highlighted the warmth of our industry, and you could feel the love in the air. Every corner of the event reflected the passion, creativity and collaboration that make Washington’s wedding community so special. Starting the year together to celebrate the release of the new issue, toasting to the exciting season ahead and honoring the relationships that make our shared success possible made this one of my favorite moments of the year (page 16).

Our Fall/Winter issue, the one in your hands, wouldn’t be complete without our annual Best of 2026 Awards. It’s a favorite tradition for our team and the community, honoring the very best in Washington weddings. Every year, we’re inspired by the talent, passion and dedication that continue to raise the bar across the industry. To find out who was nominated and who rose to the top, turn to page 52.

Whether you’re newly engaged, deep in planning or simply soaking in Washington’s beautiful love stories, I hope this issue fills you with fresh ideas, excitement and connection. As you bring your wedding day to life, we’d love to be part of your planning, so share it with us by tagging @washingtonweddingday . We already know it’s going to be gorgeous.

Big hugs and congratulations on your engagement!

TODAY WAS A FAIRY TALE

The perfect setting for creating a European-inspired garden wedding through a very Pacific Northwest lens? Bella Luna Farms in Snohomish, where Ninna Jacobsen of Toasting You Marketing & Events and a team of talented professionals dreamed up this design, which embraced the 12-acre venue’s weathered charm with a palette of rich burgundy, soft neutrals and layered greenery. Ivy-covered walls and aged wood created the feeling of a tucked-away countryside estate, while contemporary details kept the overall aesthetic fresh and fashion-forward.

The design centered on texture at every turn. Velvet linens paired with scalloped tableware brought dimension to the tablescape, softened by lush floral arrangements. Hydrangeas established full, cloudlike bases on asymmetrical stands framing the altar, while dahlias, zinnias, ranunculus and garden roses added movement and depth. Delicate sprigs of dara introduced an airy, meadow-inspired finish that echoed the surrounding landscape. Greenery enveloped the backdrop, from rustling reeds to towering pines.

Fashion and styling, understated as they were, played an equally important role in shaping the mood. A fairytale A-line gown, with a corseted waist and a beaded veil, complemented the romantic atmosphere without coming on too strong or feeling overly bold. As natural light filtered through the trees and greenhouse windows onto the reception set, every detail exuded luminosity. Café lights, along with the lattice-like ceiling woven with vines, perfected the lighting scheme. The ethereal table runner was topped with low goblet vases, mossy taper candles and organic arrangements. In the corner of the whimsical cottage design sat a three-tier cake with hand-painted floral detailing in various hues of orange and green.

DANCE PARTY

From the day they met, Jared and Ben were inseparable. The couple built a life together, traveling the world, caring for their pups, Dolly and Jolene, and going to concerts—especially those of the electronic dance music (EDM) variety. So when it came time to say “I do,” they knew they wanted to throw a lively affair. “The focus of their wedding was all about creating a great atmosphere for their chosen friends and family,” says Seattle-based photographer Jen Patterson. “They wanted it to truly feel like a celebration, where everyone felt equally seen and involved.” Also important was honoring Ben’s Chinese heritage, which they did during a traditional tea ceremony and via an emphasis on the color red throughout the celebration. The grooms exchanged vows atop the King Street Ballroom’s rooftop terrace, standing before a stunning, sculptural red-and-white floral arrangement. Dolly and Jolene, dressed in their wedding-day finest, trotted down the aisle carrying the rings in red boxes. Once the proverbial knot had been tied, the true party could begin. Guests were whisked into the ballroom, where elegant black draping set the stage for the high-energy evening to come. The newlyweds, clad in chic ivory suit jackets, made their grand entrance into their EDM-inspired reception, complete with a black-andwhite checkered dance floor, lasers, fog machines and showstopping pyrotechnics. Sparks were indeed flying as they shared their first dance as a married couple. —Lauren Mang

A NEW CHAPTER

Happily ever after is usually followed by a lot of “whats.” What’s for dinner? What should we get at the grocery store? What do we want on this wall? What color should we paint our bedroom? The rose-colored glasses of newlywed bliss are removed, and you are faced with the reality of making dinner every night and creating a home that effortlessly encapsulates you as a couple— minus the “effortless” part because it is no easy feat. Luckily, there are two fresh books on the shelves ready to help newlyweds endure this new chapter of their lives.

The Newlywed Table by Maria Zizka is a book filled with easy-tofollow recipes that are equally delicious. Fret not about leftovers rotting in the fridge, most recipes have a “what to do with

leftovers” section so you can get the most out of each dish. Featuring comfort foods like grilled cheese and tomato soup to sweet and savory breakfasts and beyond, there is no shortage of mouthwatering content. With advice on how to stock your kitchen, organization tips, wedding registry recommendations and more, you’ll be the next Gordon Ramsay in no time. For the Pinterest junkies and wannabe interior designers, The Newlywed Home is for you. Written by Anush J. Benliyan, this book is a wealth of information about producing a stylish, yet functional, abode with your partner. The book takes readers on a journey room by room, sharing advice ranging from design tips to storage ideas. No matter your aesthetic, this book guides you in shaping a space that honors your unique spirits while celebrating the life you are building side by side. —Sydney Stevens

SPEAKEASY WITH A TWIST

For TIPSY SOCIETY INC. (@tipsytrailerllc) , what began as a mobile bartending company serving up signature cocktails at weddings and events from its custom-built bar trailer has since expanded into a veritable drink-slinging empire. In addition to its bartending services, the Snohomish-based business, founded by Michelle and Sean Rankin, offers a mobile photo booth experience via Tipsy Pix, and most recently, opened a new hidden gem where you can host your next gathering: Tipsy Society Speakeasy.

Nestled within downtown Snohomish’s historic Katlin Building, the space is a moody, intimate hideaway that can accommodate up to 40 people. “We want guests to walk in and feel right at home,” says Michelle Rankin. Intriguing and inviting, the venue features locally sourced antiques, ornate mirrors and vintage décor.

When you book the speakeasy, you’ll select from various bar packages suited to a variety of needs. As for catering, it’s BYOF—you’re welcome to bring your own provisions and nonalcoholic beverages. It’s the perfect spot to kick off your bachelorette party, host an elegant rehearsal dinner with a modern twist or simply savor an evening of high-society sipping with your nearest and dearest once you’ve officially tied the knot. —Diane Meyer

COME RAIN OR SHINE

A wedding day showcases a year’s worth of decisions, from attire and cake flavor to floral arrangements and more, yet one element will remain a wild card: the weather. If you are determined to have an outdoor celebration, it’s likely you have been frantically Googling weather averages or paid an Etsy witch to keep the rain at bay. Thankfully, there is a way to ensure your soirée is safe, comfortable and dry. Enter Andrew Leavitt, founder and CEO of concierge meteorology service, IRONIC (@ironicreports) With his extensive background in event production and 24/7 weather desk team, Leavitt is making events right as rain. The pandemic’s downtime and the rise of outdoor weddings in 2020 led him to bring his revolutionary idea to life, and today Ironic serves bustling regions across the globe. The concept struck him when he was a groomsman at a friend’s wedding, and a small storm began to form. He knew it would be brief, but the planner moved everything indoors. The quick shower passed, and the sun came back, resulting in a ceremony drenched in perspiration rather than precipitation.

Unlike weather apps, Ironic’s meteorologists track exact locations and timing, utilizing both climatology and weather data to relay real-time reports to clients. From historical forecast reports to premium on-call meteorology, Leavitt’s team helps everyone involved in the event, such as informing photographers of rain-free timeframes for outdoor portraits, ensuring grounds are secure for tent builds, or advising a bride to ditch the veil before the wind makes it take flight. It’s a domino effect; weather can tip the first domino, and if the event team isn’t prepared, it can impact one of the most special days of your life. Ironic keeps events safe and running smoothly, but the real gift is priceless: peace of mind. —Sydney Stevens

SO YOU JUST GOT ENGAGED

HERE’S WHAT TO DO FIRST (AND WHAT CAN WAIT)

Engagement season arrives with champagne, social media screenshots and an undercurrent of urgency. Suddenly, timelines appear, opinions multiply and couples feel an unspoken pressure to “get started” before they have had a moment to exhale. But the most meaningful beginnings are not rushed. They are intentional.

Before diving into venue tours or color palettes, here’s a more grounded way to approach the early days of engagement, one that sets the foundation for a thoughtful, well-paced planning journey.

1. LET THE MOMENT BREATHE

Before the engagement becomes a project, allow it to simply be a milestone. Celebrate privately. Call the people who matter most. Sit with the excitement before sharing it widely. This pause is not indulgent; it is grounding, and it often clarifies what you actually want moving forward.

2. ALIGN ON VALUES BEFORE AESTHETICS

Early conversations should focus less on how it will look and more on how it should feel. Talk about what matters most to each of you: intimacy, experience, tradition, creativity, ease. These shared priorities quietly shape every decision that follows.

As Madison Henrie, social media manager for the Seattle Wedding Show notes, “The best advice for newly engaged couples is to start with structure, not style. Before scrolling Pinterest, align on budget, priorities and guest count—that clarity saves time and stress later.”

3. HAVE A REAL CONVERSATION ABOUT BUDGET

No numbers yet, just boundaries. Understanding comfort levels, contributors and expectations early helps avoid friction later. A general framework creates freedom, not limitation, and gives context to every future choice.

This structural clarity is what allows inspiration to be useful rather than overwhelming. As Henrie emphasizes, alignment early on prevents unnecessary stress down the line and creates a more efficient planning experience.

4. DEFINE A LOOSE TIMELINE

Whether you are imagining a short engagement or a longer runway, identifying a general season or year brings clarity

PHOTO: Sam & Sola Studio

without pressure. This alone can eliminate much of the noise around what you should already be doing. Once that window is defined, it becomes easier to understand which decisions actually need to happen soon. According to Henrie, after foundational alignment, couples can begin to “secure key vendors that book out early, like your venue, planner and photographer,” while allowing the rest to unfold more naturally.

5. BRING IN GUIDANCE EARLY, EVEN INFORMALLY

A planner consultation at the beginning can be invaluable. Early insight helps couples understand realistic timelines, costs and priorities, and often prevents missteps before they happen. Think of it less as committing and more as orienting.

With the right guidance in place, details such as menu tastings, design elements or custom signage can come later, once the core team and structure are set.

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS COUPLES RUN INTO EARLY ON:

“We Need to Book Everything Immediately”

Some elements are time-sensitive, but most decisions benefit from context. Rushing rarely leads to better outcomes, only faster ones.

Mistaking Inspiration for Instruction

Social media offers beautiful ideas, but it can quietly turn inspiration into expectation. Not every trend, aesthetic or viral moment needs to be part of your wedding.

Starting with Design Instead of Structure

Mood boards are tempting, but without clarity around budget, guest count or priorities, they can create confusion rather than direction.

Comparing Timelines

Engagements are not meant to follow a universal clock. Six months or two years, neither is more correct. The right timeline is the one that supports your life, not someone else’s.

Treating Planning as a Checklist

Wedding planning is not linear. Priorities evolve. Decisions shift. Allowing flexibility makes the process more human and far less stressful.

Remember, engagement season is not meant to be a race to the finish line. It is a threshold. A moment to pause, reflect and begin with intention. When couples allow themselves to slow down, ask the right questions and prioritize alignment over urgency, planning becomes not only more manageable, but more meaningful.

MEET ME IN THE GARDEN

After 13 years together, Lauren and John began their forever as husband and wife during an enchanting garden celebration at Fox Hollow Farm in Issaquah. Their late-September nuptials coincided with a perfect fall day, perhaps brought about by the hired Etsy witch whose spell may or may not have given the weather a well-intentioned boost. Nevertheless, the Pacific Northwest sparkled, and the pair gathered with friends and family amid the venue’s wooded hills and historic 1940s-era manor to say, “I do.” A romantic asymmetrical floral arch in shades of bright green, muted peach, blush and traditional white tones created their altar, the colors inspired by the transition from summer to fall. Bundles of more stunning blooms, including calla lilies, garden roses and hydrangeas, lined the grassy aisle. The bride’s bouquet was a vision in white, featuring a mix of orchids and calla lilies (her favorite) and accented with hanging emerald amaranthus.

After the vows, guests found their way to the tented reception space, where chandeliers dripping with greenery hung above candlelit tablescapes that echoed the romantic palette. Of course, the transition into party mode was marked not only by the classic black-and-white checkered dance floor, but also by Lauren’s wardrobe change from her striking A-line gown into a beaded mini with plenty of sparkle. To finish the evening in true Seattle fashion, burgers from local late-night staple Dick’s Drive-In were served on silver platters.

SHADES OF COOL

SERENE BLUE HUES ANCHOR THIS CLASSICALLY ELEGANT AFFAIR

Something blue has been a part of weddings for centuries, and using the cool tone as the star of a wedding day palette lends a refined timelessness to even the most modern affairs. Ashton and Logan’s celebration on the verdant grounds of Pasco’s Promise Garden shows how balancing soft blue with creamy white can create such a classic look.

The blue-and-white theme began with the stationery, on which a dusky blue Chinoiserie-inspired pattern framed the joyous details. The iconic color combo graced the gowns of Ashton’s bridal party—including painterly florals and a chic, light blue pantsuit with white shoes— complementing her simple, flowing silhouette.

A mix of white roses, blue and white hydrangeas and lush greenery, with sprigs of baby’s breath tucked throughout, accented the gazebo where the couple exchanged their “I do’s.”

During the cocktail hour and reception, blue-and-white pottery filled with flowers topped tables covered in elegant floral-patterned linens in the same shades. Tablescapes featured sky-colored glassware, blue taper candles and patterned table runners, with grand arrangements making a statement overhead. Even the refreshments were part of the palette party—cupcakes were decorated with baby-blue flowers, while bottles of soda customized with their newly shared last name featured flavors that fit the theme to a T.

GOLDEN AFTERNOON

BOLD PATTERNS AND SUN-BAKED SHADES OF ORANGE AND DUSTY ROSE INFUSE CHATEAU LILL WITH SPANISH STYLE

On a bright, early spring day, Woodinville’s Chateau Lill was transformed into a romantic scene where amor was in the air. The design, by Seattle-based wedding planning biz Weddings With Wendy, recalled the aesthetics of modern Spanish style—particularly the look of boldly patterned tiles found in Spanish architecture—embracing traditional touches, vibrant color, texture and intricate details aplenty. A floral archway, blooming with the likes of garden roses, brownie frill tulips and delphiniums in shades of burnt orange, dusty rose, toffee, champagne and hints of blue, beckoned guests from the outset.

Awaiting them inside was a sophisticated ceremony space, where more florals lined the aisle and burst forth from rustic pottery. The altar, set before the venue’s stately fireplace and stone hearth, brimmed with greenery and tall ceramic vases filled with artful arrangements. In the tented reception area, simple white wooden tables were topped with lace runners, while place settings featured intricate woven wicker chargers and, of course, brightly colored Spanish tiles as place card holders. Woven light fixtures overhead brought additional warmth and texture. The finishing touch to this joyful affair: playful extras such as custom coffee toppers, a live painter and two beer burros, adorned in their own floral finery.

LOVE STORY

A DEEP AND DAZZLING DECLARATION OF ROMANCE, BLENDING HIGH-FASHION DESIGN WITH FILIPINO HERITAGE

Bathed in crimson draping and candlelight, Reneille and Brian’s winter wedding transformed the luxe Four Seasons Hotel Seattle ballroom into an immersive experience of love and tradition. Floor-to-ceiling red velvet softened the scale of the space, while crystal chandeliers flickered overhead, casting warm light across black tabletops, ivory seating and hundreds of glowing candles in saturated shades of garnet. The effect was a moody and romantic vibe—a reflection of the couple’s January date and their “Shades of Love” dress code, which invited guests to dress in red with touches of black. As the owner of Seattle-based Gian Events, Reneille approached

the design with a planner’s eye for atmosphere. Oversized fabric swags stretched dramatically across the ceiling and converged above a circular white dance floor where the ceremony took place beneath sculptural arches wrapped in soft ivory fabric. Clusters of red roses lined the stagelike setting, later reappearing at the sweetheart table in lush arrangements that spilled onto the floor among glowing glass hurricanes. Even the custom ice luge carried the couple’s “R&B” monogram, a nod to their shared initials and their love of early-2000s R&B music, which became the soundtrack for the evening.

Hidden within the striking palette was a playful detail guests might not have realized: the wedding’s red, white and black color story was inspired by a Pokéball. Brian had proposed in Paris with Reneille’s ring tucked inside one, and the couple threaded the reference throughout the celebration. Personal touches continued into dinner service with Filipino pandesal tucked into bread baskets, and the traditional Filipino money dance closing out the night in joyful fashion.

NEW PLACES NEW SPACES

FRESH (AND FRESHLY RENOVATED) VENUES ARE REDEFINING THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WEDDING EXPERIENCE

Washington’s wedding venue landscape is entering a striking new era. Across the state, historic buildings are being thoughtfully reimagined, hospitality-driven spaces are embracing celebrations and entirely new properties are debuting with weddings in mind from the very start. From rooftop soirées in the heart of Seattle to serene resort escapes framed by evergreen landscapes, the latest additions to the Pacific Northwest venue portfolio offer couples a fresh perspective on what a Washington wedding could look like.

One of Seattle’s newest event spots, ROOFTOP AT RAILSPUR (@railspur.seattle), brings an elevated urban energy to Pioneer Square. Perched within a restored historic building and spanning 15,000 square feet, the two-level venue pairs skyline views with warm industrial design and flexible gathering space ideal for modern ceremonies and cocktailstyle receptions. Nearby, LABOUR TEMPLE (@labourtemple) offers another newly refreshed city option with an entirely different feel. The landmark Belltown location blends historic architecture with contemporary event functionality, creating a moody, design-forward backdrop for couples drawn to Seattle’s artsy edge.

Hospitality continues to shape the region’s venue evolution. At SALISH LODGE & SPA (@salishlodgespa) , situated above the iconic Snoqualmie Falls, recent renovations culminated in the debut of the new Waterfall Suites—luxurious top-floor accommodations with sweeping views of the Snoqualmie River Valley. The additions coincide

with the property’s ongoing transformation over the past several years, including updates to guest rooms, the spa, the lobby, dining experiences and its Cliffside Ballroom. For couples hosting a full wedding weekend, the new suites offer an especially compelling option for bridal parties or family gatherings.

Further emphasizing immersive guest experiences is GREENSTONE RESORT (@greenstoneresortwa) , a recently opened destination featuring a mix of accommodations—from cabins and a main-house suite to glamping tents—located on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. It was founded with weddings top of mind: owner Ashley Griffith is a longtime wedding planner and notes that the resort offers couples the rare opportunity to be among the very first to celebrate there. FLOATING ON AIR

A MOUNTAINSIDE CELEBRATION BRIMMING WITH SOFT BLUE HYDRANGEAS AND DELICATE BABY’S BREATH

Weekends for Minrui and Daolun are usually spent in nature, exploring and hiking with their two dogs, Lucky and Coco. The couple met via an online dating app, and after countless outdoor adventures and trips to national parks, including one memorable night of camping and stargazing at Joshua Tree in California, they realized their blossoming love was one for the ages. On an early September day, at Snoqualmie’s sublime North Fork Farm, Minrui and Daolun began their next chapter as husband and wife. Their wedding celebrated their love of nature, with the scenic Mount Si towering in the background. Clad in a shoulder-baring gown, Minrui walked down an aisle blooming with sumptuous floral arrangements, featuring a mix of light blue hydrangeas, which evoked the gentle beauty of water, and delicate baby’s breath accents that added romance and airy elegance. A unique, hedge-like design formed the altar—its purposeful height enabling the impressive mountain views to shine. “Combined with the bride’s favorite shade of purple, the design creates a refreshing and graceful atmosphere,” says planner Gloria Xiong of Gloria Events and Weddings. One particularly romantic moment was when Lucky and Coco, the canine ring bearers, trotted down the aisle with the rings. “Surrounded by blooming flowers, with majestic mountains standing witness to their love, they exchanged vows as family and friends cheered in joy.”

TOASTING YOU MARKETING & EVENTS

Delicate lace details, dreamy pops of yellow and grounding natural stone elements were the foundation of this striking scene at Chateau Lill in Woodinville. The venue’s timeless, European elegance was paired with a soft, springtime aesthetic that blended old-world romance with raw beauty. Lush florals layered with greenery graced the ceremony space and sweetheart table, spilling from stone pots in an organic, intentionally undone style. A chic getaway car added just the right amount of vintage charm to this sophisticated affair.

MADY & SAHIL by SIMPLY BY TAMARA NICOLE

Mady and Sahil’s three-day wedding celebration was a multicultural event that fused rich South Asian traditions with modern whimsy. The festivities began with a traditional pre-wedding mehndi party, followed by an Indian wedding ceremony at the Mercer Island Community Center and, in a fun twist, a disco-themed sangeet, during which the Simply by Tamara Nicole team transformed the space into a vibrant oasis, featuring disco balls and colorful baby’s breath among bold floral arrangements. On the final day, the couple exchanged vows in a romantic American garden ceremony at Woodinville’s Chateau Lill, complete with a grand floral arch, a table filled with decadent desserts and an interactive bellini bar during cocktail hour that later became a crowd-pleasing bellini tower.

THIS QUIET FOREST RETREAT FLOURISHES WITH MEADOW-INSPIRED BLOOMS, ZESTY ORANGE HUES AND LAYERED TEXTURES

Design & Planning: Sage Event Co. Florals: Rose & Sparrow Photography: Emett Joseph Photography Text: Lauren Mang Venue: Saiuen Gardens

Against the NATURAL backdrop of the venue, the colors almost felt like they BELONGED there, especially as the light shifted throughout the day.

On the pebbled banks of the Pilchuck River lies Saiuen Gardens, a secluded, mossy oasis that once served as the North American branch of the revered Grand Tsubaki Shinto shrine. The tranquil property, located in Granite Falls, was converted into a Zen-style garden and wedding venue (it’s also a four-bedroom rental), where couples celebrate wedded bliss surrounded by nature and ancient traditions. It was among those same trees that Katelynn Long, owner and event coordinator at Snohomish-based Sage Event Co. envisioned this wedding design—an inviting tableau featuring subtle Art Nouveau touches, layered textures and details that felt collected rather than perfectly matched. “I wanted it to feel immersive in a way that immediately slows you down,” she says. “Sometimes wedding design can be beautiful but distant, and I always want our designs to feel emotionally inviting.”

For the ceremony, Rose & Sparrow anchored the altar with a meadowinspired floral arrangement in soft blue and zingy shades of orange. “These colors work well from early spring through late fall,” says owner and lead designer Adrian Hayden Hopkins. “There are plenty of varietals growing locally to choose from, including spring tulips, pansies, marigolds, ranunculus, narcissus and hydrangea.”

I draw much of my overall INSPIRATION from our five acres of creekside property in Thorp. I hand-forage lighter vine greenery and FOLIAGE from our backyard and pick from my own gardens when I can.

I wanted the space to feel IMMERSIVE and a little transportive, like guests had stepped into an editorial GARDEN dinner that still felt warm and INVITING rather than overly formal.

That well-balanced color palette flowed into the tented reception space, where a long communal table in the center—its simple bench seating draped in dreamy blue fabric—was flanked by intimate tables for two and four, covered in a mix of blue and textured white linens. “There was something about the tension between the blue and orange tones that immediately felt interesting to me,” Long says. “Blue brought in a sense of calm and refinement, while the orange added movement, energy and a little bit of boldness.”

This sculptural cake from Chef Carla Callahan of Honey Crumb Cake Studio is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the dessert lover. Rather than leaning into ornate detailing, Callahan focused on shape, texture and movement for a modern contrast to the softness of the reception design.

Happiness is as LIGHT as the feather, but only a few know how to hold it. Misfortunes are heavier than the EARTH , but only a few know how to let it go.

REAL WEDDINGS

ALLISON & LAURENCE

Married & Celebrated: COLUMBIA COLLECTIVE, WOODINVILLE

Date: SEPTEMBER 27, 2025

Allison and Laurence celebrated their late-September wedding at the historic Columbia Collective in Woodinville with close friends and family. A timeless black-and-white palette carried through from the ceremony to the reception, including white florals and warm candlelight. The ceremony was held in the venue’s Barrel Room, a dramatic space with stacks of wine barrels lining the walls. Elegant white draping and bold, floral arrangements atop textured white pedestals formed the altar. After the pair exchanged vows, guests mingled over signature cocktails, served with napkins featuring illustrations of their Australian shepherds, River and Dakota. (When Laurence proposed one evening, their pups had fetched Allison’s engagement ring and brought it to her.) Inside the ballroom, black velvet-covered tables lined with single-stem white roses and candles were artfully arranged in front of a black-and-white checkered dance floor—a disco ball overhead hinted at the revelry to come. The cake, a simple, three-tiered confection, was placed before the fireplace, where photos of married loved ones, past and present, were displayed upon the mantle. —Rylee Woodward

JANE & ABNER

Married & Celebrated: THE WOODMARK HOTEL & STILL SPA ON LAKE WASHINGTON, KIRKLAND

Date: OCTOBER 11, 2025

Jane and Abner met at a local restaurant, where Abner was eager to chat since he had just moved to Seattle and was exploring his new neighborhood. Jane was initially less than eager, but after running into each other several times, something just clicked. Their love quickly blossomed, and they spent their time enjoying concerts, competitive dart nights, traveling and outdoor adventures. A few years later, the couple began to plan their wedding. “Our biggest inspiration was gratitude,” they said. “We wanted to create an experience that honored the family and friends who supported us, guided us and ultimately helped bring us together.” Their fall wedding at The Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland was an elevated affair featuring a simple white tent that was transformed into an immersive space overflowing with lush blooms, organic textures and romantic details. The tent’s entrance was draped with rich green velvet to keep the ceremony space hidden and entice guests to step inside. What awaited was a magical, floral-filled experience, including an aisle lined with dramatic blooms that led the eye to a grand floral arch where they would exchange their vows. Playful, unexpected edible elements such as kiwi berries, ginger, grapes, peppers and pomegranate, along with seasonal greenery brought an artistic flair to the arrangements and tablescapes. While guests reveled in the event’s creativity, they also enjoyed a few of the bride and groom’s personal favorites, including bottles of Jane’s favorite hot sauces and a late-night snack bar featuring their comfort food of choice, Korean instant noodles. —Ryley S. BRYCE & ZACH

Married & Celebrated: ROCK CREEK GARDENS, PUYALLUP

Date: SEPTEMBER 13, 2025

It started with what some might call fate. In late 2019, Bryce was arriving at the gym at the exact moment Zach, who was there on a trial membership, was heading out the door. It was a brief crossing of paths just before the world shut down. During the pandemic, the pair found themselves building something real together. For their wedding, they chose Rock Creek Gardens, a 20-acre private estate in Puyallup, where towering trees, a large pond and unobstructed views of Mount Rainier set the scene for an elegant, black-tie affair. The celebration featured a palette of white with sage green and gold accents, as well as a plethora of personal details, such as lavish floral arrangements featuring white roses (Bryce’s favorite) and white lilies to honor Zach’s late mother. Bryce reserved a place in his wedding party for his late best friend, represented by a single white rose tied with a piece of his favorite shirt. Ring boxes were hidden under two random guests’ chairs as a surprise, and their aunts served as flower queens. After a wardrobe change into sleek, ivory dinner jackets, the Dom Pérignon was popped and the newlyweds enjoyed dinner seated at their king’s table, which was adorned with 100 single-stem roses and pillar candles of varying heights. As for late-night festivities, snacks included pizza, chocolate chip cookies honoring Bryce’s grandmother and scotcharoos dessert bars in a nod to Zach’s Midwest roots. Their favorite moments from the day were the quiet ones: the first look, private vows, watching guests arrive from the top floor of the wedding party house and a rowboat ride across the pond together at golden hour. —Rylee Woodward

JORDAN & SETH

Married & Celebrated: GORGE CREST VINEYARDS, UNDERWOOD

Date: OCTOBER 18, 2025

Jordan first met Seth while sprawled across the couch in his tiny apartment after a semester abroad in Copenhagen. What began as overlapping friend groups and late-night hangs slowly grew to something more, sealed with a kiss on that same couch in front of their entire circle of friends. Years later, the Houston-based pair traveled to the Columbia River Gorge to say “I do” surrounded by the landscape that had long captured their interests and hearts. As soft autumn clouds drifted over Mount Hood, blue-and-white florals softened the vineyard’s dramatic backdrop. Mac Miller instrumentals floated through the ceremony, a nod to the music that shaped their relationship, while vintage-inspired details infused the crisp October air with warmth. Jordan stunned in an elegant gown that moved effortlessly with the mountain breeze, while Seth’s emotional reaction during their first look became one of the day’s most unforgettable scenes. Music remained integral throughout the celebration. The couple shared their first dance to a favorite song by Caamp before Jordan honored her mother with a dance of their own—an unconventional and beautifully touching moment. Later, her father gifted her a gardening kit to symbolize the next chapter of her marriage and all the ways it would continue to bloom. —Megan Simpson Teeter

MICHAELA & TAJA

Married & Celebrated: THE CORSON BUILDING, SEATTLE

Date: AUGUST 16, 2025

It only took two mutual friends’ dinner parties, one Instagram story and one direct message for Michaela and Taja to realize their true feelings for each other. Since Taja isn’t a fan of surprises, the pair planned their engagement together: they spent the day revisiting the site of their first kiss then returned home to a rooftop retreat with flowers and candles. Taja had prepared a proposal, while Michaela spoke off the cuff. They said “yes,” popped a bottle of bubbly and went out for dinner knowing a wedding was on the horizon. The couple tied the knot within the leafy surrounds of The Corson Building in an intimate affair that combined Michaela’s maximalism with Taja’s minimalism. The result was a design that played with contrast, polish, restraint and abundance, including floral arrangements in bright colors, funky shapes and unusual textures. Their invited guests, whom they described as “all the people [they] could genuinely imagine FaceTiming,” gave speeches honoring the newlyweds. “There was something so moving about hearing the people we love reflect our relationship back to us,” the couple said. After the last heartfelt words were shared, the cake was cut and slices of summery pie were served, the lively bunch spent the evening dancing in the soft breeze. —Diane Meyer

STEPHANIE & ANDREW

Married & Celebrated: JM CELLARS, WOODINVILLE

Date: SEPTEMBER 26, 2025

When Stephanie and Andrew met at a rooftop rosé party one summer evening, little did they know it was the beginning of their forever. The pair wed during a warm and welcoming celebration at Woodinville’s JM Cellars, where towering trees and lush foliage offered the ideal Pacific Northwest backdrop to their ceremony. Upon arrival, friends and family received a chilled splash of rosé—a sweet nod to the couple’s first encounter—then took their seats as Stephanie and Andrew exchanged heartfelt vows beneath a wooden pergola. Ethereal white and blush floral arrangements sat atop clear acrylic pedestals, lending a floating effect and helping to preserve views of the surrounding landscape. During the ceremony, the couple’s two dogs made a surprise appearance; the pups, decked out in their fanciest attire, raced down the aisle to deliver the wedding rings. Now husband and wife, the evening transitioned to an elegant candlelit dinner, in which monochromatic tablescapes were accented with modern ceramic vases filled with lilies (Andrew’s late mother’s favorite), roses and orchids. Each table was named for one of the couple’s beloved Seattle haunts (e.g. Elliott Bay Book Company, Volunteer Park), complete with signage featuring a custom line-art icon. Later, another surprise was in store: late-night pizza delivery from Alexandras, with a shuttle service to the after-party, hosted at their favorite karaoke spot, Rock Box. —Lauren Mang

NICOLE & GARRETT

Married & Celebrated: THE WOODMARK HOTEL & STILL SPA ON LAKE WASHINGTON, KIRKLAND

Date: MAY 25, 2025

Fun-loving and sporty couple Nicole and Garrett were married on a bright spring day at The Woodmark Hotel. The bride, an equestrian, and the groom, a former rower, said “I do” beneath a luxe floral altar, with Lake Washington sparkling in the background. It was also at the altar that they shared their first look. (While getting ready, the groom needed assistance with his bowtie, so he wore a blindfold while Nicole helped so as not to spoil the big reveal.) After their emotional ceremony, the couple slipped away for a private boat cruise together. Back on land, guests sipped champagne surrounded by stunning arrangements of bleeding heart, spirea, delphinium, sweet pea, archangel foliage and maidenhair fern, mingling with albino anemones, lisianthus, peonies, roses, ranunculus and snowball viburnum. Cool shades of green balanced rich ivory, while touches of rattan added warmth and texture. In a subtle nod to Nicole’s love of horseback riding, place cards featured gold horse-bit details. For pint-sized guests, kids’ tables were covered with custom drawing paper and heaped with crayons and crazy straws to help keep them entertained. A particular favorite among partygoers of all ages, however, was the ranch dressing fountain, which, of course, required the perfect late-night treats for dipping. —Diane Meyer

LAUREN & CHRIS

Married & Celebrated: TREEHOUSE POINT, ISSAQUAH

Date: OCTOBER 25, 2025

Lauren and Chris bonded over their shared passions: animals, the great outdoors and the joy found in life’s simplest moments. Their intimate wedding at Treehouse Point reflected those sensibilities, embracing the wild romance of the forested surroundings for an autumn celebration rooted in authenticity and family togetherness. A string quartet set the ceremony to music, playing the soaring soundtracks from some of the couple’s favorite films, including Star Wars and The Princess Bride . They stood beneath towering evergreens to exchange their personalized vows, each honoring their heritage in their own way: Lauren affixed an Irish brooch to her bouquet, while Chris wore a full traditional Scottish kilt ensemble. His daughter, Kaylee, helped perform a Scottish handfasting ceremony to symbolize their new life as a blended family. Whimsical floral arrangements featured greenery and a mix of blooms in white and autumnal hues. Shades of sage and moss green were paired with warm neutrals and hints of copper, while raw-edged wooden furniture complemented the natural scenery. Rather than sharing a traditional first dance as husband and wife, the couple opted for a family dance instead—a special choreographed routine the three of them learned together. An unexpected atmospheric river tried to dampen the fun with wind and rain; however, Lauren and Chris remained unconcerned. “It ultimately became part of the magic,” they said. Guests sipped warm cider and stayed cozy in blankets under the stars, spending the evening savoring not only the forest’s stunning beauty, but also the power of lasting love. —Diane Meyer

LESLIE & LARRY

Married & Celebrated: BELLE CHAPEL, SNOHOMISH

Date: SEPTEMBER 13, 2025

It was at the historic Belle Chapel in Snohomish, with its hand-carved cathedral ceiling and private garden, that Leslie and Larry were destined to become husband and wife. The pair fell in love with the venue’s intimate charm, old-world beauty (it was built in 1885) and a garden frog statue they noticed on their first walk through—a discovery they took as a sign that Larry’s late mother, who loved frogs, would be there with them. On a crisp fall day, they said “I do” surrounded by their most cherished friends and family. Clad in an elegant lace gown, Leslie walked down the floral-lined aisle with her parents at her side, her lace-gloved hands carrying a dramatic, oversized bouquet of greenery and white blooms. She joined her groom at the altar, beneath an archway of greenery and white wisteria, where they exchanged vows and lit a traditional unity candle. Post-ceremony, the couple retreated to a private cocktail hour to spend precious time alone as newlyweds before rejoining the celebration. Personal touches such as a cigar station, cheeky custom matchbooks and an Etsy witch on hand hired to keep the rain away made the wedding feel authentic to them. Even more special, their beloved chihuahua was always at their side. —Lauren Mang

ASHLYNN & ARPIT

Married & Celebrated: THE MONTVALE EVENT CENTER, SPOKANE

Date: OCTOBER 4, 2025

Arpit was working toward his PhD in electrical engineering when he matched with wedding planner Ashlynn on Hinge. After a long-distance stint, co-parenting their dog, Luna, and lots of traveling, their love story culminated in a wedding at The Montvale Event Center in downtown Spokane. As an expert in designing the perfect wedding ambiance, Ashlynn had a specific vision in mind when it came to her own celebration—moody, libraryinspired cocktail lounge—and made sure every detail was tailored to her relationship with Arpit. Muted seasonal hues of cinnamon, blush and peach were balanced with deep mauves and burgundy, which created a rich and timeless feel throughout the historic venue. Ashlynn wore a dreamy, billowing gown complemented by a dramatic, lace-trimmed tiered veil, while Arpit donned a burgundy suit jacket; the pair exuded an elegance that was entirely their own. An empty seat was marked with a purple rose in honor of Ashlynn’s late mother, so her presence could be felt as the couple became husband and wife. A bookshelf-style seating chart, handmade by the bride, guided guests to their seats—a clever nod to the couple’s passion for reading. Another emotional touch was the display of Ashlynn’s mother’s wedding dress and Arpit’s mother’s wedding lehenga alongside photos from their weddings. Abundant candlelight created an intimate and undoubtedly romantic atmosphere, perfectly bringing the newlyweds’ vision to life. —Ryley S. Hoff

ALLIE & ROCKI

Married & Celebrated: BRIARWOOD ESTATE, MOUNT VERNON

Date: SEPTEMBER 5, 2025

Introduced by mutual friends, Allie arrived at her first dinner with Rocki accompanied by a friend. She did it again at their next outing. By the third meetup, Rocki finally asked her to stop bringing backup. From then on, the pair were inseparable. At Briarwood Estate in Mount Vernon, the couple wanted to blend their playful personalities with their faith to create a lively yet polished wedding day. The ceremony aisle flowed beneath clouds of baby’s breath and scattered rose petals, while handcrafted white pillars—built by the groom—framed the altar with soft chrysanthemums and airy blooms. Bridesmaids in champagne satin carried sculptural calla lilies, echoing the clean, romantic aesthetic. The couple’s golden retriever became an unofficial guest of honor, charming attendees throughout the evening and even inspiring a signature drink called “The Harley.” Personalized cocktail napkins also featured Harley’s face and added a wink of humor to the refined setting. Following a heartfelt ceremony blessing centered around their Christian faith, guests gathered beneath candlelight for tacos served from a food truck and cocktails poured from a vintage bar trailer. As the evening unfolded, the dance floor transformed into a high-energy party, culminating in a sparkling sendoff beneath fountains of light. For the newlyweds, however, the quiet final dance they shared at the end of the night stood out as the highlight of the entire soirée. —Megan Simpson Teeter

Married & Celebrated: MAPLEHURST FARM, MOUNT VERNON

Date: OCTOBER 10, 2025

Minna and Matthew met at church; their shared values of faith and family inspired their love. The couple chose Maplehurst Farm for their wedding venue, embracing the rustic barn’s intimacy and serene setting. The sweet scent of rain and sugar maples infused their ceremony with serenity, while the color palette leaned into the hues of the dramatic fall foliage surrounding them. Bridesmaids wore various shades of shimmering auburn and copper, as well as taupe and mauve. Groomsmen sported light apricot-colored ties. Matthew donned a boutonnière to match Minna’s bouquet of peach- and coral-hued dahlias, classic white roses and scabiosa. Despite the fall chill, guests remained cozy in the barn, enjoying a hearty ramen bar and joyful sounds of worship music. The bride and groom wowed guests with a choreographed first dance before sharing a private moment together, treasuring their first time alone as newlyweds. The pair wrote personalized notes to every guest and gifted them memorabilia from their favorite travels as favors. A guest book full of vintage postcards for family and friends to sign was a final, heartfelt touch that completed this enchanting celebration. —Diane Meyer

HEATHER & ERIC

Married & Celebrated: MV SKANSONIA, SEATTLE

Date: OCTOBER 18, 2025

After meeting on Hinge in 2020, Heather and Eric spent the stillness of the pandemic building a relationship around long walks through the arboretum, cozy evenings at home and spontaneous escapes into the Pacific Northwest. When it came time to plan their wedding aboard the historic MV Skansonia, they wanted to capture a bit of that intimate, romantic spirit. Before the ceremony, they slipped away to the top deck for a private first look and personal vows, echoing the quiet vibes of the groom’s proposal beside a secluded lake near Mount Rainier. Moody skies hovered above the waterfront as the couple said their “I do’s” in front of friends and family with the city skyline as their backdrop. Soft ivory blooms mingled with airy greenery, while bridesmaids wore mix-and-match neutrals that mirrored the muted palette of the harbor beyond. Throughout the celebration, the retired ferry’s rich maritime character offered layers of nostalgia, from vintage boat imagery tucked into the getting-ready spaces to the iconic Skansonia life preserver stationed behind the couple during the cake cutting. The design leaned into understated refinement. As evening settled in, the newlyweds stepped onto the bow for one final dance—starting and ending their nuptials alone together, along the same waterfront where they first fell in love. —Megan Simpson Teeter

KAYLEE & JOHN

Married & Celebrated: ISLANDWOOD, BAINBRIDGE ISLAND

Date: SEPTEMBER 27, 2025

Kaylee and John hosted their closest friends and family during their wedding weekend at IslandWood, an environmental education nonprofit that works to ensure children in Washington State have access to nature-based learning. Set on 250 forested acres, the outdoor venue was a fitting choice for the intellectual couple, who met while studying at the University of Washington. The festivities unfolded over three days, during which the couple and their guests bonded over campfires (complete with s’mores), outdoor activities aplenty and dinners beneath the trees. IslandWood’s four lodges provided a rustic home base, lending a little summer camp feel with Pacific Northwest charm to the affair. Every detail of their big day reflected Kaylee and John’s love story, from their rings, which were engraved with an acorn and a rock symbolizing growth and a steady foundation, to their cocktail hour menu, featuring foods and drinks inspired by places they had traveled together (e.g. a sake mule was an homage to their adventures in Japan). Floral arrangements were loose and organic, leaning into soft creams, peaches, blush tones and subtle blue accents. The asymmetric floral arch that first framed the ceremony was then repurposed to bring color and movement to the reception later that evening, where they made their grand entrance to the tune of a trumpet duo playing the “Warner Bros. Fanfare.” Perhaps the sweetest detail of all: The dried florals guests tossed while the couple walked down the aisle as husband and wife were made from flowers they had saved over the years to commemorate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other meaningful events together. —Rylee Woodward

JENNIFER & BRETT

Married & Celebrated: AXIS PIONEER SQUARE, SEATTLE

Date: OCTOBER 11, 2025

With only one free day before Jennifer left town and Brett was scheduled for an on-call shift, the pair were determined to meet for a drink. That meeting left them on cloud nine (even after Jennifer had a minor scuffle with a pothole while riding a scooter to get there). Set against the exposed brick of AXIS Pioneer Square, the couple’s wedding day brimmed with candlelit romance. Delicate greenery mixed with an abundance of baby’s breath, creamy white roses and pops of sunflowers created an inviting ceremony atmosphere. A hush fell over the crowd as Jennifer and Brett recited their vows, exchanging words that promised a lifetime of love through happy tears. The reception overflowed with playful coziness and personal touches. Proud pet parents to their cat, Leo, the newlyweds found plenty of spots in which to spotlight him, including on cocktail napkins, in pictures at their head table and, of course, in a giant re-creation of his face gracing the dance floor. Jennifer and Brett kept the party going after their reception ended, leading everyone to the rowdy local bar, Cowgirls Inc, where the bride hopped up on the mechanical bull in her wedding dress. —Ryley S. MADISON & ERIC

Married: THE EDGEWATER HOTEL, SEATTLE

Celebrated: SEATTLE AQUARIUM

Date: FEBRUARY 14, 2026

Madison grew up in Seattle, so when it came time to marry Eric, she wanted her hometown to host their nuptials. The couple chose two unique spots in the city for their ceremony and reception: they’d say “I do” at downtown’s Edgewater Hotel, with the Puget Sound behind them, then celebrate at the nearby Seattle Aquarium, complete with fish and other sea life swimming in the background. For the ceremony, the bride wore a beautiful ballgown with lace sleeves and a custom veil made with lace sourced from Arequipa, Peru—the city where her grandmother was born. For the reception, rather than leaning into a trendy black-and-white aesthetic, the couple opted for shades of steel gray and silver with soft blush-colored florals adding dimension. The overall design was glamorous and unforgettable, with simple glass vases holding single-stem orchids, the bride’s favorite, lining the center of the head table. A mix of low-slung compote vases and bud vases featuring white and blush blooms adorned the rest of the tables, with tall glass candelabras providing a warm glow. A Pisco sour signature cocktail honored Madison’s Peruvian heritage. After a wardrobe change into a party-perfect mini dress, the newlyweds danced the night away and shared an evening kiss on the pier in front of an illuminated Seattle Great Wheel. —Rylee Woodward

BROOKE & BRYAN

Married: ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL, SEATTLE

Celebrated: FAIRMONT OLYMPIC HOTEL, SEATTLE

Date: OCTOBER 25, 2025

Brooke and Bryan were married at the soaring St. James Cathedral in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood. Wearing a stunning lace ballgown, Brooke walked down the aisle to the cathedral organ playing the rich sounds of “Cornfield Chase” from the film Interstellar —a cinematic tribute to one of the couple’s favorite films and the groom’s career in aerospace. (The pair met at freshmen orientation for engineering at Santa Clara University.) Their celebration was rooted in the coastlines, mountains and national parks that were such a big part of their relationship. Subtle nods to nature came through via meaningful design elements, including classic and ethereal florals of crisp white roses and blue hydrangeas, which adorned the altar and lined the church’s staircase, where they descended as husband and wife into a chic getaway car bound for their reception. At the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, reception tables were named after their favorite national parks or spots in nature, each featuring photographs of the couple hiking, skiing, camping and exploring together. Brooke’s impressive creativity was also on display; she designed a custom B&B monogram that embellished several touchpoints throughout and created a playful drink menu starring their beloved dogs, Luna, Jojo and Willow. In the year leading up to their wedding, both Brooke and Bryan lost a grandparent. They honored their loved ones with a memory table that displayed cherished photos. The big day culminated exactly as they had hoped: with exuberant cheers during their first dance, delicious cake and their officiant, Father Ernest, showing off his moves on the dance floor. —Rylee Woodward
