“THOSE WHO CAN’T

The Wedding Planner

Confession: I never wanted a wedding. I know...I know. I’m a wedding magazine editor. Just hear me out. My darling husband and I tied the knot almost 14 years ago in a very modest ceremony at Seattle’s King County Courthouse. I wore a black sheath dress and carried a small bouquet of purple calla lilies that he ordered for me because I wasn’t even certain where to get a wedding bouquet. We had friends take grainy photos on their iPhone 4. While I mostly wouldn’t change a thing, seeing the incredible feats of beauty this Oregon wedding community creates on the daily definitely has me second-guessing. (For one, I didn’t even know elopement photo sessions existed.)

If you find yourself in a similar cloud of uncertainty (in my case, cluelessness) or are just in the market for the perfect planner/caterer/photographer etc., to bring your dream to life, then this Fall/Winter issue of Oregon Wedding Day is your issue. In our Best of 2026 feature (page 38), you’ll discover a curated list of Oregon’s most talented wedding professionals, nominated and voted on by local couples, readers and fellow industry experts. It’s truly an essential planning resource—one that past me would have consulted many, many times.

As you thumb through the rest of these inspiring pages, you’ll encounter a dramatic, draped editorial at the Sentinel Hotel (page 52), led by Totem Events. The florals! The food! The ornate detailing on the cake! We also traveled to Abbey Road Farm in Carlton for a romantic, yet whimsical scene (page 46) with Your Perfect Bridesmaid, where we refused to let an early spring downpour rain on our very pretty parade.

Don’t miss local love stories (page 85), a new Hood River hotel for the perfect wedding weekend (page 26) and inventive ideas on how to bond with your soon-to-be in-laws (page 24).

It’s funny to think that planning a dream wedding was never part of my journey, but now, I have the opportunity to watch all of you work your magic, then write about it—and for me, that’s the real dream.

With love,

Lauren Mang laurenm@irondiamondmedia.com @lauren_irondiamond

AFOREMENTIONED GRAINY PHOTO OF MY WEDDING DAY

A SHARED VISION

This year has brought exciting growth and change for our team, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Jessi and I were thrilled to add Lauren and Sabrina this past year. Their presence, love and enthusiasm for the community have made such an impact behind the scenes, and watching our team grow and come together has been one of my favorite parts of the past year.

We hit the ground running in January, filming six Wedding Day Podcast episodes in Oregon, which enabled us to expand how we connect with the wedding community and couples, and highlight local vendors—something I absolutely loved. These conversations gave us a chance to spotlight even more of the talented voices behind Oregon weddings and share stories, ideas and inspiration beyond the pages of the magazine.

One of the highlights of the season was celebrating our Spring/Summer 2026 issue release at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe. “Brunch after Dark,” planned and designed by AJP Events, was bold, vibrant and truly unforgettable. A maximalist dream filled with incredible design moments, amazing food, beautiful florals, live music and the kind of energy that reminds us why we love this industry so much. It was such a joy to gather with local wedding professionals, celebrate the new issue and toast to the season ahead (page 14).

And of course, this issue wouldn’t be complete without our annual Best of awards, our favorite tradition for honoring the very best in the Oregon wedding industry. There is nothing better than seeing this community come together to recognize the talent, passion and dedication that make this state such a remarkable place to say “I do.” To find out who was nominated and who rose to the top, turn to page 38.

Whether you’re newly engaged, deep in planning, or simply soaking in beautiful love stories, I hope this issue fills you with fresh ideas, excitement and connection. As you bring your wedding day to life, we’d love to be part of your journey—share it with us by tagging @oregonweddingday . We already know it’s going to be gorgeous.

Big hugs and congratulations on your engagement!

ISN’T IT ROMANTIC

In the colder months, nothing warms the soul faster than a good love story. Especially one that’s enveloped in a luxurious red. The clean modern lines and panoramic views of Amaterra—the private winery, vineyard and social club within Portland’s West Hills—played host to this romantic, wintry celebration, where a rich palette of cherry, burgundy, plum and soft lilac was layered with texture to evoke a sophisticated, seasonal vibe.

“The goal was to create an experience that showcased the venue’s potential through a thoughtfully designed indoor ceremony installation, highlighting how the space can transform for weddings year-round,” says Amanda Bloom, owner of AJP Events, which created the concept in partnership with Amaterra for its annual winter wedding open house. “While the design leans into a romantic winter mood, it was also curated to resonate with couples planning celebrations in the summer, demonstrating the space’s versatility.”

Two complementary ceremony installations showcase that versatility—one an outdoor celebration with asymmetrical platforms and wild arrangements of small blooms and dried leaves; the other an indoor vignette styled with structured blossoms and drapery.

At reception tables, more romantic red. Tonal linens, etched glassware and tailored paper goods strike a balance between restraint and intricacy, allowing the florals to take the lead without overwhelming the setting. Additional details deepen the narrative, from the artful stationery suite that includes subtle vineyard motifs to the sculptural cake dressed in florals and fresh fruit.

COME TOGETHER

Before you get the official “welcome to the family” seal of approval, a little extra bonding time with the in-laws-to-be is in order. Whether they’re the adventurous type, more into art or simply enjoy the art of relaxation, there are a variety of places around Oregon where you can connect and celebrate your upcoming union. Take a page from a royal playbook and sit down for high tea at ABIGAIL HALL (@abigailhallpdx) inside downtown Portland’s Woodlark Hotel. The cozy, floral-adorned cocktail bar serves up a classic high tea service every Saturday and Sunday, featuring Smith Teamaker teas steeped tableside in vintage teacups alongside a tower of sweet and savory goodies. For an outing of the self-care kind, treat your soon-to-be father-in-law to a haircut and a hot shave at TROUBLEMAKER BARBER AND ALE SOCIAL CLUB (@troublemakerbarbers) in Portland’s Slabtown. Unwind, then share a pint over a game of billiards in its sleek and stylish surroundings. In the

Mount Hood National Forest, plenty of family bonding activities await—no matter the season. MT. HOOD OUTFITTERS (@mthoodoutfitters) provides guided, three-hour snowshoe tours— including snowshoe and pole rentals—during which you can revel in the majestic snowy landscape, spy native birds and learn a little local history.

In summer, rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and glide along Trillium Lake. Or, if you prefer to bond over an unforgettable shared expedition, the Adventure Park at MT. HOOD SKIBOWL (@skibowl) offers an 800-foot zip line that will have you and the in-laws flying—securely harnessed, of course—high above the trees. If it’s an art-filled experience you’re after, head to the LINCOLN CITY GLASS CENTER (lincolncityglasscenter.com) in Lincoln City and book your spot to create your own blown glass art under the watchful eye of an expert glassblower. After your masterpieces cool overnight, you and your new in-laws will have cherished keepsakes to commemorate time well spent together. — Lauren Mang

LUXE NEW LODGING

If you’re planning to tie the knot in Hood River, there’s a new gem in town to designate as your wedding weekend headquarters. LIGHTWELL HOTEL & SPA (@lightwellhotel) , which opened last winter, is a 69-room boutique hotel located in a historic building—the former Waucoma Hotel, built in 1904—in the area’s buzzy downtown. (Couples take note: It’s just a quick jaunt to the weathered and equally historic wedding venue, The Ruins.) Book your stay in the showstopping Sandbar Suite, then calm any pre-wedding nerves in Lightwell’s underground spa, featuring a warm soaking pool and dry sauna, along with myriad 60- and 90-minute massage treatment options. Convene for a toast or two in the hotel’s Lobby Bar, then journey upstairs to its fourth-floor rooftop to revel in panoramic Columbia River Gorge views and relax with friends by a fire pit. The morning of the big day, beeline to Basecamp Cafe & Provisions to secure coffee, breakfast, snacks or perhaps even a bottle of bubbly. All that’s left to do is say “I do.” —Lauren Mang

RAIN OR SHINE

A wedding day showcases a year’s worth of decisions, from attire and cake flavor to floral arrangements and more, yet one element will remain a wild card: the weather. If you are determined to have an outdoor celebration, it’s likely you have been frantically googling weather averages or paid an Etsy witch to keep the rain at bay. Thankfully, there is a way to ensure your soirée is safe, comfortable and dry. Enter Andrew Leavitt, founder and CEO of concierge meteorology service, IRONIC (@ironicreports) With his extensive background in event production and 24/7 weather desk team, Leavitt is making events right as rain. The pandemic’s downtime and the rise of outdoor weddings in 2020 led him to bring his revolutionary idea to life, and today, Ironic serves bustling regions across the globe. The concept struck him when he was a groomsman at a friend’s wedding, and a small storm began to form. He knew it would be brief, but the planner moved everything indoors. The quick shower passed, and the sun came back, resulting in a ceremony drenched in perspiration rather than precipitation.

Unlike weather apps, Ironic’s meteorologists track exact locations and timing, utilizing real-time weather data to relay information to clients. From historical forecast reports to premium on-call meteorology, Leavitt’s team helps everyone involved in the event, such as informing photographers of rain-free timeframes for outdoor portraits, ensuring grounds are secure for tent builds, or advising a bride to ditch the veil before the wind makes it take flight. It’s a domino effect; weather can tip the first domino, and if the event team isn’t prepared, it can impact one of the most special days of your life. Ironic keeps events safe and running smoothly, but the real gift is priceless: peace of mind. —Sydney Stevens

CITRUS CELEBRATION

A FALL WEDDING FULL OF CHEERY, VIBRANT HUES

Julia and Jack’s love story began in California—at Santa Clara University, to be exact. But it was the pair’s eventual relocation to Seattle that inspired them to settle on Oregon, a meaningful midpoint between their past and future, for their nuptials. On a cool October day, Julia and Jack exchanged vows at Bend’s St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, then celebrated with a bright, floral-forward reception at Black Butte Ranch in Central Oregon, where fresh, citrusy shades of tangerine and lemon created the perfect autumnal aesthetic. Arrangements featured blooms and greenery that represented their relationship and its multi-state moments, including poppies (the official state flower of California), olive branches and kangaroo paw, layered with delphinium (native to the PNW) and cottage roses. The fall palette continued throughout: Julia’s bridal party donned shades of cinnamon and eggplant, while the couple’s vintage getaway car offered a cheery pop of bright orange. Tablescapes featured a combination of bud vases and lush meadow arrangements, while the ceremony’s pew florals and large statement pieces found new life at the reception. A final flourish was the single-tier wedding cake, adorned with even more vibrant florals, which just so happened to match the dainty orange bows tied around the couple’s wine glasses.

DRESSED TO IMPRESS

A GRAND BALLROOM AT THE RITZ-CARLTON GETS EVEN GRANDER WITH A MIX OF CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY STYLE

Rather than leaning into the expected crystal-laden territory, the team behind this design set at The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, embraced a textural approach—maximizing the space for both an elevated and lived-in feel. A refined black-and-white palette anchors the aesthetic, allowing sculptural elements and nuanced details to take center stage. Ribbed taper candles, luxe linens and thoughtfully placed tabletop and floor lamps introduce warmth and dimension, softening the scale of the ballroom and adding an unexpected residential sensibility. The result is an enticingly immersive setting, inviting guests to be fully present in the moment.

That sense of ease carries through to the full experience of the room, where each vignette unfolds with a natural rhythm. Lounge-style installations and layered tabletop scenes encourage guests to settle in rather than simply pass through, shifting the energy of a traditional ballroom into something more old-world and intimate. Light plays a central role throughout, catching on glassware, florals and fabric to create a soft glow that evolves from ceremony to reception.

Floral design further builds on this balance of classic and contemporary. Traditional blooms such as lilies and calla lilies are paired with more modern selections, including oncidium orchids, creating arrangements that feel both timeless and directional. Ultimately, the concept honors the essence of classic luxury while gently pushing it forward, proving that even the most iconic settings can be reimagined through a lens that prioritizes texture, mood and a sense of romantic drama.

Not everyone can say they fell in love while sharing giant pretzels and mushroom pizza, but for Natasha and Will, that first date was the beginning of something big. On a late-summer day in Sandy, the couple gathered to celebrate that love, exchanging vows amid the old-growth forest at The Woodlands House. The rustic-chic aesthetic of their day featured joyful colors and vintage-inspired details, such as hand-painted invitations, an aisle of layered rugs and collected décor pieces peppered throughout. Garden-like florals in blush, peach, butter yellow and light blue felt loose and organic. After a romantic, candlelit dinner, the evening festivities commenced, with heartfelt toasts and dancing under twinkling lights in the trees.

DREAM DAY

STEP INSIDE THIS WHIMSICAL, MEADOW-LIKE WORLD—NO LOOKING GLASS NEEDED

Design & Planning: Your Perfect Bridesmaid Florals: Swoon Floral Design Photography: Howie Photography Text: Lauren Mang Venue: Abbey Road Farm

What happens when notes of high fashion mingle with a playful, bloom-filled dreamscape? A tableau that’s as unexpected as it is refined. And that’s exactly what Stacey Weant, senior lead planner and project coordinator at Portland’s Your Perfect Bridesmaid, had in mind. “We kept coming back to the phrase ‘Alice in Wonderland meets Vogue’—a balance of whimsy and romance with an editorial edge,” she says of this ceremony and reception design, photographed at the 82-acre Abbey Road Farm in Carlton.

The creative scene unfurled inside the venue’s Arena building, a former horse-riding arena transformed into a modern, yet rustic event space overlooking the grand lawn and the gently sloping hills of its vineyard. (Abbey Road Farm produces its own small-batch wines, which you can sample in its on-site tasting room.) Soft, airy draping anchored the altar, while sculptural arrangements of spring blooms, including hyacinth, hellebores and pieris were paired with more traditional orchids, roses and hydrangeas, all mirroring the palette of romantic mauve, earthy olive green and natural tones. “The ceremony was designed to feel immersive, with lush, meadow-inspired florals guiding a serpentine aisle to a dramatic floral altar,” Weant says.

Together, shades of soft mauve, olive green and burgundy, along with grounding neutral tones lend a romantic yet refined feel. “They’re earthy enough to be timeless but have just enough softness and depth to keep it visually interesting and elevated,” Weant says.

We started with the idea of incorporating LACE into the paper goods, since textiles are set to be a major wedding trend. It adds a soft, ROMANTIC touch that gives guests a more tactile and multidimensional experience.

on This

As for the reception, the team played with contrast, creating a circular tablescape with classic details and cascading florals, while another—a candlelit, draped, sweetheart table—dabbled in a kitschy, maximalist aesthetic. “Together, they created a layered, fashion-forward experience that felt both intentional and playful.”

Alice certainly would have savored a slice from this four-tiered, Lambeth-style cake, in which Tessa Webb of Portland’s TumTum leaned into playful texture, botanical elements and a perfectly blended, mauve-colored buttercream. “Maximalism with elegance was the end goal,” she notes.

I want couples to feel inspired—to see that BEAUTY and FUN aren’t mutually exclusive. Weddings don’t have to play it safe to be meaningful. – Stacey Weant, Your Perfect Bridesmaid

AN INTIMATE GATHERING FEATURING ON-TREND COLORS, OVER-THE-TOP FLORALS AND ELEVATED LATE-NIGHT EATS

Catering: Jake’s Catering at Sentinel Design & Planning: Totem Events Florals: Trellis Florals

Photography: RTFaith Photography Text: Lauren Mang Venue: Sentinel Hotel Portland

Inside Portland’s historic Sentinel Hotel is a marvel of a space: the soaring, more than 6,400-square-foot Governor Ballroom, with its intricate cornices, stately columns and ornate ceiling motifs. The regal room can host up to 500 of your closest friends and family, however, Carrie Wilmes, lead designer and planner at Totem Events, wanted to think smaller. Way smaller. “The Sentinel has exquisite details everywhere you look,” she says. “My vision was to have this big space still be a showcase, but to also feel like you’re in your own world at your reception dinner.” She enlisted the creative genius of Runestone Events to enclose the tablescape with flowing layers of rich drapery, making it feel “as if the couple and their guests were surrounded in a cloud of love.”

For the invitation suite, I was inspired by the ornate ceiling patterns in the ballroom. They felt CLASSICAL and ARCHITECTURAL. Pairing those traditional motifs with modern typefaces and bold accents of chartreuse and cobalt blue created a BALANCE between old and new.

and Dust

The overall vibe of the installation was immersive and transportive. We worked with a WARM , layered palette of terracotta, GOLDEN TONES and chartreuse, punctuated by soft hints of light blue in the table décor and linens. Draping enclosed the entire space, creating this intimate, almost cocoon-like environment where the florals felt like they were unfolding around you.

Trending shades of terracotta, ivory and chartreuse—with hints of cobalt blue to echo the ballroom’s carpeting—laid the foundation for the design. A lavish garland arrangement by Trellis Florals, featuring green cymbidium orchids, anthurium, hydrangea and fritillaria grown from owner Blaire Regan’s garden, filled the table’s center. “I leaned into a rich, textural mix of blooms that felt both grounded and a little unexpected,” she says. “The orchids added movement and delicacy, anthuriums introduced a sculptural, modern edge and hydrangeas—very much having a moment—brought fullness and softness that tied everything together.”

This terracotta stunner from Dream Cakes incorporated ornate details that mimic the Governor Ballroom’s grandiose carved ceilings and walls.

The finale to this cozy evening among friends: a delicious spread of comfort food with an elevated twist. Jake’s Catering & Jake’s Grill Chef Dolan Lane devised a menu of late-night eats, including spiced curly fries with smoked gouda and green onions, duck confit flatbread, Jake’s famous Dungeness crab cakes and sesame noodle boxes with spicy peanut sauce. Hot dogs and champagne, anyone?

With an INTENTIONAL and INTIMATE guest count, a smaller reception seating layout doesn’t have to feel small. You want it to feel cozy. COZY doesn’t have to mean simple.

REAL WEDDINGS

JONATHAN & ROBBIE

Married & Celebrated: SUNSHINE MILL WINERY, THE DALLES

Date: SEPTEMBER 20, 2025

It was a shared love for food and wine that first brought Jonathan and Robbie together. The pair has spent the last 15 years building a life, including celebrating that love for wine culture and community as co-owners of the beloved West Linn haunt, Taste Wine Cafe, and becoming members at multiple local wineries. So when it came time for them to tie the knot, the couple opted for the very first place they ever joined: Sunshine Mill Winery in The Dalles. On a sunny, late-September day, Jonathan and Robbie exchanged vows before their nearest and dearest and raised a curated glass or two amid the winery’s eclectic setting and incredible views of the Columbia River Gorge. Elegant floral arrangements—artfully designed and styled by Robbie—featured yellow roses, white daisies and chamomile, paired with soft greenery and sprigs of eucalyptus. At each table, guests were treated to bottles of wine and a custom wine-and-food pairing list that Jonathan and Robbie created. The perfect parting gifts? A wine tumbler for each guest, inscribed with the grooms’ names and a cheeky jab: “It’s about time.” —Lauren Mang

ALLIE & MAX

Married & Celebrated: CASTAWAY PORTLAND

Date: OCTOBER 10, 2025

From the outset, Allie and Max had a clear vision for their wedding: a dark, romantic and intimate fall event, complete with a disco-style party for 230 of their closest friends and family. And did they ever deliver. The couple chose Castaway, a historic warehouse venue in Northwest Portland, where their unexpected color palette of chartreuse, burgundy, olive and deep mauve stood out against the space’s old-growth beams and concrete floors. Florals were lush and organic in shape and texture, with pedestal arrangements framing the ceremony and a dramatic installation hanging overhead. Bridesmaids carried simple, single-stem calla lilies tied with silk ribbon. Above the dance floor, greenery punctuated with disco balls set the tone for the groovy party to come. (The bride has a fondness for the faceted, mirrored spheres, so much so that she has a disco ball tattoo.) Parked inside was “DiscoBug,” a far-out Volkswagen Beetle covered in thousands of hand-glued mirrored tiles by Eagle Creek–based artist Tyler FuQua. The art piece mimicked Allie’s shimmering reception dress, which she described as “its own disco ball.” Other details, including customized matchbooks and calligraphed place cards crafted by the bride’s aunt, added even more personality to the day. For dessert, the pair served up slices of tiramisu—their favorite treat—rather than a traditional wedding cake. —Rylee Woodward

LINDSEY & SCOTT

Married & Celebrated: CHATEAU DE HARPE, WEST LINN

Date: SEPTEMBER 13, 2025

Scott met Lindsey almost immediately upon moving to Oregon, and after six months of working together, they followed their hearts and decided to date. For their wedding, the pair chose to celebrate their love and shared faith at Chateau de Harpe, an elegant, French-inspired venue in West Linn that served as a nod to the groom’s childhood spent abroad. Wearing a striking strapless ballgown, Lindsey joined Scott at the altar beneath a bright blue sky for their emotional ceremony, during which the couple and their parents took Communion in front of their guests—an intimate moment of devotion that became a highlight of their day. An abundance of pillowy-soft peonies, roses and carnations, in shades of ivory and barely-there blush, complemented the estate’s gorgeous greenery. The tented reception, illuminated with sparkling string lights and held in the rustic courtyard, was the perfect finishing touch. Guests savored delicious Italian gelato and spent the evening dancing in the September breeze. —Diane Meyer

MAYA & SCOTT

Married & Celebrated: MT. HOOD ORGANIC FARMS

Date: SEPTEMBER 14, 2025

Maya and Scott met on Hinge in Los Angeles in 2018 and have been inseparable ever since. In 2022, they traded Southern California life for West Seattle and quickly fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. So, when it came time to plan the wedding of their dreams, the PNW was the perfect destination. Mt. Hood Organic Farms, with its natural beauty, storybook charm and historic architecture, stopped them in their tracks. “Scott and I love the outdoors and spending time in nature, and we also love design and architecture and an elevated night out,” the bride says. “[It] truly felt like the best of both worlds—it just felt like us.” Amid the farm’s picturesque orchards and forested grounds, with stunning views of Mount Hood in the background, the pair became husband and wife. Florals echoed an elevated wildflower approach, featuring shades of vibrant blue, pink, orange and green, and were selected to enhance the venue’s natural vibe rather than distract from it. The couple infused personal details throughout, including printed cocktail napkins starring their sweet pup and handwritten notes for every guest. During the ceremony, Maya’s mother recited a Chinese poem, and Scott’s father offered a prayer. For most friends and family in attendance, it was their first time in the Pacific Northwest—and Mt. Hood Organic Farms made a strong case that it wouldn’t be the last. —Rylee Woodward

MEGAN & PETER

Married & Celebrated: JUNIPER PRESERVE, BEND

Date: AUGUST 16, 2025

Juniper Preserve’s lush, natural landscape set the stage for Megan and Peter’s wedding, where charming details created an elevated yet inviting ambiance. Their garden-party-style celebration layered delicate shades of green, white and ivory with rattan elements, such as floral-filled baskets, caned chairs and organically shaped rattan light fixtures suspended above the dance floor. A dramatic floral arrangement of gorgeous blooms and sumptuous greenery sat atop a simple wooden podium where the nearlyweds would exchange their vows. Elegant white roses and greenery lined the aisle, while chic ivory umbrellas shielded friends and family from the warm August sun. For their reception, a billowing white tent, glowing with ample candlelight, featured string lights and wisps of greenery. Tablescapes with patterned linens invited guests to relax and savor the moment. A playful focal point was the unexpected three-tiered display, showcasing not only their ivory Lambeth-style cake, but also a petite champagne tower where the couple would share their first sip of bubbly as husband and wife. —Diane Meyer

JAMIE & JAKE

Married & Celebrated: THE GRIFFIN HOUSE, HOOD RIVER

Date: OCTOBER 25, 2025

Under a canopy of misty October skies, Jamie and Jake celebrated their love with a stunning event on the grounds of The Griffin House. “Our wedding was meant to reflect who we are and the life we’ve built together over more than eight years,” the newlyweds said of their day’s earthy and nostalgic ambiance. Lush florals in playful, texture-forward arrangements, with tasteful pops of purple stems, adorned the outdoor garden-style ceremony. With a flair for vintage style, Jamie’s showstopping gown featured a corseted top and a draped, flowing skirt, paired with a gossamer cape—her bold cascading bouquet radiated effortless elegance. After exchanging vows surrounded by friends and family, the party continued with a tented reception that leaned even further into vintage sensibilities. Antique details and old-school music set a warm and welcoming scene. Accompanying the florals were unexpected edible elements such as shallots and lettuce, which symbolized not only abundance, but also the idea of being rooted in one another. “The details mirror our dynamic,” the couple said. “The grounding, natural tones reflected Jamie’s nurturing and steady presence, while the layered florals and organic elements represented Jake’s appreciation for beauty, perspective and possibility.” —Ryley S. FREDDIE & ROD

Married & Celebrated: SAGE AND SOCIAL, MULINO

Date: SEPTEMBER 12, 2025

As wedding vendors themselves, grooms Freddie and Rod felt it was important to approach planning with a clear point of view. Held outdoors, the event’s setting offered a calm backdrop that let their choices stand out and shine. Custom signage incorporating papel picado (“punched paper,” a tradition in Mexican celebrations) designs established a cultural throughline that carried across the event, including the seating display and overhead décor. Florals leaned warm, with bright orange tones threaded through soft greenery, creating contrast against the natural surroundings. Their attire followed that same sense of intention. Rod’s green suit paired effortlessly with a bold boutonnière of reaching blooms, while Freddie’s embroidered traditional charro suit brought a striking visual element that felt authentic to him. Together, their style choices symbolized tradition expressed through a modern lens. The ceremony was framed by a floral installation that felt as if it were bursting forth from the space rather than being placed within it. Since they couldn’t have the real deal, Freddie and the groomsmen galloped down the aisle atop faux horses—just one of the many playful elements of the day. In lieu of an “in memory” display, the pair set up an ofrenda to honor loved ones who had passed. As the evening shifted, the reception settled into a relaxed energy. String lights cast a glow over the dance floor as guests moved between conversation and celebration. When it was time to eat, the whole company dined on the newlyweds’ favorite foods: Hawaiian cuisine paired with pizza, s’mores and cake for dessert. —Megan Simpson Teeter

Date: OCTOBER 10, 2025

Maddy and Blake first met in sixth grade. Their friendship stayed strong through middle and high school, but their love story didn’t truly begin until they locked eyes at their 10-year reunion. “We slow-danced without music and made out in front of everyone,” the pair said. “We’ve been together ever since.”

To get married, Wind Mountain Ranch, with its incredible Columbia River Gorge views and cozy, dinner-party vibe, was the ideal choice for the Oregon natives. A formal dress code set the tone for their elevated affair, while whimsical florals offered a dash of playfulness. Amid the scenic views, the pair exchanged vows—Maddy’s ruffled veil fluttering in the wind. To honor his family, Blake wore his late grandfather’s wedding band, a cherished memento from his grandmother that represented the passing of the torch to a loving and happy marriage. Guests documented the evening and left joyful messages for the newlyweds via an old-school VHS camcorder. Grateful for the intentionality of their wedding day, Maddy and Blake offered this simple advice to future couples: “Do literally anything and everything that makes you happy, and the rest will figure itself out.” —Ryley S. DANA & HUNTER

Married & Celebrated: HOUSE ON METOLIUS, CAMP SHERMAN

Date: SEPTEMBER 27, 2025

After connecting on a dating app, Dana and Hunter’s love deepened as they developed shared interests in the culinary arts, including cooking, creating food-focused content together and eventually rooting their lives in creative collaboration. On a warm September weekend, those shared passions culminated in a colorful, whimsical wedding at the House on Metolius, a serene, 200-acre resort and nature reserve amid the forest. Friends and family joined the bride and groom in a mindful, pre-wedding morning plunge in the very chilly Metolius River followed by a pop-up sauna, during which everyone embraced the area’s natural tranquility. Grounded in that togetherness, guests gathered (some resting on eclectic, thrifted blankets) as Dana, clad in a bright fuchsia gown, stood beside Hunter as they exchanged vows. Bold, locally sourced florals featured late-summer blooms of dahlias, delphiniums and more in a vibrant palette of golden yellow, orange and warm pinks. A pedal steel guitar concert set a relaxed tone during the reception, with the majestic Mount Jefferson in the distance. To commemorate the occasion, an artist drew and painted individual Polaroid-style portraits for guests the night before the wedding—sweet take-home tokens of Dana and Hunter’s dreamy wilderness retreat. —Diane Meyer

SYDNEY & NEBEU

Married & Celebrated: THE EVERGREEN, PORTLAND

Date: OCTOBER 4, 2025

Inspired by the classic elegance of film and style icon Audrey Hepburn, Sydney and Nebeu’s lavish wedding at The Evergreen celebrated tradition with elevated style. The couple, originally from Portland, dated in high school before traveling to different cities for college. They rekindled their relationship while living in Washington, D.C. and eventually moved to Chicago, where they spent time traveling and enjoying adventures aplenty. On a crisp October day, Sydney, outfitted in a pearl-adorned gown and veil, and Nebeu, in a classic black tuxedo, shared their first look, then read their vows privately—a helpful, calm-inducing moment—before reading them again in front of their nearest and dearest. Instead of bouquets, bridesmaids carried vintage beaded clutches down an aisle flanked by candles, white blooms and greenery—a contrast to the venue’s industrial style. For their grand entrance as newlyweds, the couple wore traditional black-and-gold Ethiopian kabas to honor Nebeu’s heritage. The groom gave a welcome speech in both English and Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. An opulent, candlelit dinner, complete with vintage crystal wine glasses that guests could take home, created glowing warmth under the lofty ceilings. As the sun set, Sydney and her father shared a sweet dance set to their cover of Billy Joel’s “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel).” The night ended in The Evergreen’s moody underground speakeasy, Voysey—an homage to the couple’s love of a stylish night out. —Diane Meyer
