METHODOLOGY the users to open, save, modify or edit their files for efficient documentation. Notepad is one of the most used and basic one among all text editors. It saves the file with the “.txt” extension. It is a most common text-editor as well as an essential component for personal computers but its usage is decreasing day by day due to lack of efficient features. Therefore, to overcome the flaws of Notepad, this research paper focuses on adding some advanced features in the original application to make it more efficient to use.

1. INTRODUCTION Text-editors are computer programs which help the user to store, share, open, save, and print their data in the form of files. The first text-editor was a full screen editor known as O26 which was written for an operator console in 1967. Notepad was developed by Microsoft in 1983. The current Notepad application is very basic and simple, due to which its usage is decreasing day by day. Over the past few years, various desktop applications have been developed which are more advanced than the current notepad application, but as this application is developed by Microsoft it is still used by almost all the companies for documentation and coding purposes as well. The basic ideology of the advanced notepad is to provide users with some advanced features like background colors, font colors etc. to make it more efficient to use.
Flow of the code:
1.1 LITERATURE REVIEW After reviewing research papers, following features have been newly added in notepad application. 1) In “EDIT” Menu Item Time/Date option has been added to insert Time and date automatically. 2)Whenever the file is opened, notepad automatically inserts a timestamp on the next line 3) “Go To” line command has been added in the EDIT option which makes it more efficient and smarter to use. Particularly, in this project, Core Java has been used (J Frame ) which makes use of Event Handling . Java has already predefined various Listeners for each awt component which carries out the required actions.
