Abstract - With the world’s population increasing the numberof vehicles being used on an everyday basis has been increasing dramatically. Owing to this scenario, vehicular traffic is the most prudent and something that must be identifiedat theearliesttothebenefit of the generalpublicand also the traffic personnel. The seriouseventualitymayresultin traffic jams and the key to fix thesaid problem can be found in order to handle the current situation. This paper aims at incorporating a solution for traffic violation detection at the signal using Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID).

Key Words: RFID Reader, RFID tags, GSM, Renesis Micro-Controller.

1.INTRODUCTION

Nowadays expeditious growth in population is a norm andpeopleareinvestingmorefortheircomfort.Asaresult, thenumberofautomobilesbeingusedisalsodramatically increasingNowadaysexpeditiousgrowthinthepopulation has led to increasing in the usage of automobiles. As a consequence of the above scenario traffic and hence the trafficviolationdrasticallyincreases.

In this paper, we use modern technologies like RFID and IOT to identify the vehicles committing certain traffic violationsandpenalizetheviolator.Thesuggestedapproachis quitecoherent, andmoreefficientsinceitavoidstheambiguity ofhavingseveralmodelswithdifferentobjectives.Instead,we concentrate on a single approach for the detection of a particularviolationcommitted.

WeuseRFIDtechnologyforthesaidapproach.HereRFID readers and tags are used to detect the violation. In this system, RFID technologies are used to monitor real- time traffic information. The technology used records the informationofthosevehiclesviolatingthetrafficrulesand henceamessageissenttothemobilenumberaccompanied withtherespectivevehicle.

Aftergeneratingthedatausingthementionedmethods,it is made accessible to the general public so that they are awareofthefineincurred.Weusethistechnologyintherealtimetrafficmanagementsystem.

According to the traffic rule, vehicles are said to be stopped at the stop line near the zebra crossing when the

signal turns red, sometimes people who drive the vehicle surpassthestoplineandjumpthesignal.

Insomescenarios, peoplepurposefullystopthevehicleon the zebra crossing while the zebra crossing is meant for pedestrianstocrosstheroad, sothisincorporatesoneofthe majorviolationsofthetrafficrule.

4. DISCUSSION

Anincreaseintrafficisoneofthemajorconcernsinsociety. Especially in a country like India with an ever-increasing population.Peopleareinvestingmoreintheircomfort, thus manyautomobileshavecomeintothepicture.Naturally, the numberofvehiclesisalsoincreasing, thusleadingtotraffic congestionandseveralformsofthetrafficviolation.Traffic violation leads to major accidents and causes an serious injure to the public on the roads so to overcome these situations some of the ideas and technical methods were proposedwhichhelpinovercomingthissituationtheother wayroundbutsomeoftheseideashavemajorproblemsand drawbackswhichcanovercomethedrawbacks.Recentlyin the state of Karnataka, India traffic authorities have implementedandbroughtintoactionahugeprojectwhich handlestrafficandmonitorsroadincidentsandalsotraffic violations. This system which has been proposed by the Karnatakastategovernmenthasbeenimplementedinmajor trafficorcongestedareaswheremanpoweralonecannotbe sufficient, sotohandle this sortofsituation thisproject is implementedwhereallthelivetrafficisrecordedthrough thehighdefinitioncamerasinstalledatthemajorhotspots

Thesystemisbuiltordevelopedinsuchawaythatitautodetectsthetypeofviolationbeingdoneandisrecordedand fedintothedatabase.Thesystemsistrainedinsuchaway that whenever a traffic violation is detected by the highdefinition cameras they capture that particular video clip andsendthosevideoclipsatsomerateoftimewhichisfed intothedatabase.Whenthesevideoclipsaresuppliedtothe system it identifies the type of violation committed and penalizesthevehicle.Thissysteminrealityhashelpedthe trafficauthoritytohandletheworkinabetterwaybutthis systemagainhasmajordrawbackswhichinternmakesthe general publicagainst thesystem. The majordrawback of thissystemisthememorypartwhichisthestoragecapacity ofthedatasetsofeveryvehicleontime, becausethissystem storesthevideoclipsinthedatabasevideoprocessingisa hecticproblemwhereitconsumesmuchofthestorageinthe database. As the cameras are of high definition then the videoqualitywouldbemegabytestogetherifthequalityof thecamerastoovercomeasuchproblemisreducedthenthe video or the clarity of the image and the vehicle number plateoranyothertagswillnotbeclearandthiswillbecome aproblemtothesystemitselftorecognizethevehicleand penalize the vehicle which is, in turn, a great loss for the governmentitselfbecausetobuildsuchprojecthugeamount has been spent which will not be profitable anymore. So another drawback of this system is the processing of the videoclips, letusconsiderascenariowhereavehiclespeed isfasterthanthecapturingrateofthecameraifthevehicleis fast enough even though when a video has captured the visibility of the required data will be less so it is also a serious concern. Another drawback of this system is the angleortheinclinationofthecamerasandtheplacementof thesecamerasinperfectpointsbecausetosomeextentthe camerascancaptureinsomemajorinclinedanglebeyond thelimitthatitcannotcapturewhichwillleadtotheescape of vehicle even though a system is implemented. Another majorconcernofthissystemisthedetectionoftrafficrule violationsnearthezebracrossing.Letusconsiderascenario whereavehiclecrossesthestoplinewhichisatthesignal and is stopped on the zebra crossing itself, here zebra crossingismeantforthepedestrianstocrosstheroadand the stop line near the traffic signals is an indication or a cautiongiventothedriverorriderofthevehiclenottocross ormovebeyondthatlinewhenthesignalturnstoread. So peopleareviolatingthisruleasifsomeofthedailytravelers donotevenknowthatthestoplineservessomepurposeat the signals and some even though knowing the rule will commitsuchsortofoffenseandbecomeadisturbancefor thepedestriansontheroadsthishastobeovercomewhere the existing system is not able to capture the clips at the signalduetotheimproperplacementsofcamerasandthein the angle where the cameras are inclined. This are the methodswhichareproposedandarebeingusedintherealtime which are not supportive in some of the scenarios discussed.

5. CONCLUSION

Inthispaper, wehavecomeupwithansystematic approach that will automatically penalizes for violation of traffic rule, which will lead to an organized traffic management.Thishelpsinreducingmanyproblemsrelated totrafficandalsocontributestoefficientlydecreasenumber ofmajoraccidents.
