Abstract - Blood plays a vital role in saving human lives during medical emergencies, surgeries, and accidents. However, traditional blood donation systems often face problemssuchasdelayedcommunication, poorcoordination, andunavailabilityofreal-timedata.Toovercometheseissues, this project proposes an intelligent Blood Donation Management System that connects donors, hospitals, and blood banks through a single digital platform. The system supports donor registration, live blood stock monitoring, emergency blood requests, and instant notifications using mobiletechnology.Location-baseddonoridentificationhelps infindingnearbydonorsquicklyduringurgentsituations. The proposed system reduces manual work, improves transparency, and ensures faster access to blood, making it suitable for modernhealthcare needs

Blooddonationisanessentialserviceinhealthcarebecause timelyaccesstobloodcansavelives.Bloodisrequiredfor surgeries, accident victims, childbirth complications, and long-term treatments. Despite its importance, the existing blood donation process is mostly manual and inefficient. Hospitals and blood banks often struggle to find suitable donors quickly, especially during emergencies. Lack of coordination, outdated records, and slow communication leadtodelaysandshortages.
Toaddressthesechallenges, theproposedBloodDonation Management System provides a digital solution that links donors, hospitals, and blood banks on one platform. The system automates major processes such as donor registration, blood inventory tracking, emergency request handling, andnotificationdelivery.
Donors can use a web or Android application to register, check their eligibility, receive emergency alerts, and view theirdonationhistory.Hospitalsandbloodbanksuseaweb dashboardtoraisebloodrequests, managestock, andverify donorinformation.Technologiessuchaslocationservices andpushnotificationshelpidentifynearbydonorsquickly, improvingresponsetimeduringemergencies.
Severalonlineblooddonationsystemshavebeendeveloped to improve blood availability. However, many existing platforms have limited features, such as restricted area coverage,lackofreal-timealerts,andcomplicatedinterfaces. Somesystemsdonotprovideinstantdonornotificationsor automated eligibility checking, which reduces their effectiveness during emergencies. These limitations show the need for a simple, fast, and fully integrated blood donationmanagementsystem.
The proposed system follows a client–server architecture using RESTful APIs. The backend server manages user authentication, donor data, blood inventory, and notifications. Donors interact with the system through an Androidapplication, whilehospitalsandbloodbanksaccess itthroughawebportal.FirebaseCloudMessagingisusedto send instant alerts, and Google Maps API is used to locate nearbydonors.
Thesystemisdividedintothreecorecomponents:thedonor module, thebloodservicemodule(hospitalandbloodbank), and the backend server. Donors can register, update personal details, check donation eligibility, receive notifications, andviewdonationhistory.Hospitalsandblood banks share a common portal to manage blood requests, inventorylevels, donorverification, andreportgeneration. Secure data processing is ensured using JWT-based authenticationandrole-basedaccesscontrol.
This module allows donors to register, update personal details, check donation eligibility, receive emergency notifications, schedule donation appointments, and view donationhistory.
Hospitals can submit blood requests, while blood banks managebloodstock, approverequests, issuebloodunits, and updateinventoryrecords.

The backend processes all system requests. It uses JWTbasedauthenticationtoensuresecureaccessandrole-based permissions.Ithandlesrequestvalidation, eligibilitychecks, inventoryupdates, andalertgeneration.
A MySQL database stores all system data, including user profiles, donor records, blood inventory, requests, appointments, and transaction history. This ensures data accuracyandconsistency.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Delivers instant emergencyalertstoeligibledonorslocatednearby.
Google Maps API: Enables location-based searches for donorsandbloodbanks, facilitatingfastercoordinationand delivery.
The system workflow covers authentication, request processing, donationmanagement, andreporting, withthe goalofimprovingcoordinationamongallstakeholders.
Step 1: User Authentication and Role Identification

Step 2: Blood Request Generation

Step 3: Inventory Verification
The system checks blood availability in the blood bank database.Ifbloodisavailable,therequestisapproved.
Step 4: Emergency Alert Mechanism
If blood stock is insufficient, emergency alerts are sent to nearbyeligibledonorsusingFirebasenotifications.
Step 5: Donor Eligibility and Appointment Scheduling
Donors respond to alerts. The system verifies eligibility based on health criteria and donation history. Eligible donorscanbookappointments.
After donation, blood banks update the inventory. All transactionsarerecordedforfuturereference.
