FUEL SCHEME CHANGES ANNOUNCED “I do not want to see any old person afraid to turn on their heating.” Minister Heather Humphrey’s announced upcoming changes to the fuel allowance beginning the 2nd of January 2023. This new change will support the largest ever expansion of the fuel allowance scheme. Currently over 37,000 households are in receipt of fuel allowance, and with changes, it’s expected that over 80,000 new households will qualify for the first
time. The guidelines will change for both under and over 70s, so everyone is encouraged to check their eligibility. Those who already qualify do not need to reapply. A more comprehensive scope of changes and additional info on how to apply inside:
