Literacy and TTRS Support Programme

Start Date: 19th January Day: Monday Time: 4.30pm to 5.30pm TTRS 4.30pm to 5.30pm Literacy 4.30pm to 6.15pm Literacy & TTRS Duration: 1 hour Literacy 1 hour TTRS OR 2 hours Together Venue: IRD Duhallow James O’Keeffe Institute Cost: Term prices: €40 full fee or €35 with Social Welfare/Medical Card; attending both Literacy and TTRS is €80 full fee or €70 reduced. Accreditation: N/A Course Content • Our weekly classes are led by experienced Primary School Teachers and focus on developing children’s reading, writing, spelling, memory, and sequencing skills. These sessions run from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. • Touch Type Read Spell (TTRS) is a specially designed computer programme with dual learning for children, as they learn how to type and spell on a computer. This runs from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, or for those also doing the literacy class, from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm.

Course Content • Movie Night is a monthly event where people of all ages and nationalities come together to watch a movie in English with subtitles. It is an opportunity to improve language skills in a fun and relaxed setting. This programme is confined to economic migrants and new arrivals.

Training Cancellation Policy: Training Cancellation Policy: Training courses which are cancelled over 7 days in advance of the training date shall incur no cancellation fee. Training courses which are cancelled within 7 days of the scheduled training date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the cost. Registrants who fail to attend training for whatever reason will be charged 100% of the full fee. Please note all cancellations must be put in writing.

It is designed to help students overcome the “Intermediate plateau” in order to reach a solid level of effective communication. This course aims to improve all four language skills in order to boost the level of the students from a B1 level to B2. It will focus on practical English aimed at assisting students in the jobs market. It will also seek to introduce some activities to help students in future exam preparation for work or for further education.

Perhaps your child has additional needs, which may include cognitive difficulties, physical or sensory difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and difficulties with speech and language. Or maybe you are caring for an elderly relative or friend in your or their own home? We would love for you to join, take away important learnings from our seminars, talks and workshops and most importantly feel support by like-minded carers in Duhallow. This programme is here to support you and your family. It lives from your participation and involvement. In the light of the global Covid 19 pandemic, Family and Voluntary Carers have faced a particularly challenging time and supporting each other in a non-judgemental therapeutic space cannot be underestimated. The Dormant Account programme seeks to empower carers by providing them with the knowledge and information relevant to their needs and situation along with developing and expanding our existing support network for carers in the region which would overall help to improve the quality of life of both the carer, the family as a whole and the person being cared for. IRD Duhallow is delighted to deliver this programme for you and all offerings have been designed with you and your needs in mind. In order to tackle this, our Job Centre provides an innovative, solution focused recruitment service that is free and confidential for employers in the local community. Its primary goal is to help people to gain employment by connecting skilled jobseekers to potential employers in Duhallow. When you contact our Job centre team, our trained development officers will listen to what your requirements are and we will search our database of skilled and experienced employees to provide you with a shortlist of suitable candidates with the correct skills, qualifications and experience. Employers can then shortlist their ideal candidates to bring for interview. We also provide a number of services to jobseekers, these include: providing assistance compiling and updating CV’s; assisting with interview skills through mock interviews; providing a career guidance service to those wishing to enter or return to education.
