Sean O’Driscoll CEO - The iNUA Collection

Message from our CEO

I am delighted to share with you our first combined update on People, Culture and Innovation; these are the building blocks of the growth and success of the iNUA Collection and Cliste Hospitality in 2023. I want to take a moment to recognise and thank your loyalty, exceptional commitment, and dedication to our hotels, our guests, and most importantly, to each other, and it’s what makes us who we are. Thank you all for being an invaluable part of our team. I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to the teams at the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip, the Gateway Hotel in Dundalk, and the Gasworks in Belfast. Your integration into the iNUA Collection this year has strengthened our presence in the dynamic world of hospitality. Throughout 2023, we are very proud of our numerous achievements that deserve recognition. From the successful completion of the graduations in our Professional Cookery Traineeship, the Management Development Programme, Supervisory Development Programme, Departmental Coach Programme, to the industry awards acknowledging our commitment to sustainability, excellence in weddings, and green hospitality accreditation – each of these milestones is a testament to your hard work and dedication. We have proudly hosted many for high-profile conferences such as ITIC and our charity partner’s, Down Syndrome Ireland annual AGM. Furthermore, achieving the Great Place to Work accreditation across our hotels speaks volumes about the positive and thriving work culture that you contribute to. Looking to 2024, I welcome you to continue sharing your voice through feedback and be a partner in ensuring a great place to work. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our company’s values, and I look forward to our continued success together. Warm Regards, Sean O’Driscoll

From Paper to People By: Deirdre Buckley Director | People & Culture

We are thrilled to introduce an exciting new chapter in our People journey – evolving from a HR process to a People & Culture centric ethos across all our hotels. This initiative reflects our passionate commitment to creating an environment at work that each member of our team not only feels valued but thrives and really enjoys being part of. We began this journey because we live to create a positive colleague experience and culture that not only keeps you here but also attracts and nurtures future top talent. While traditional Human Resources mainly handles compliance and administration like payroll, benefits, compliance etc, we believe that while very important, these tasks shouldn’t overshadow your needs. People and Culture focuses on you, your experience as a colleague, and your wellbeing. At the heart of this initiative are our core values: Passion, which fuels our dedication to delivering remarkable guest experiences; Courage, which empowers us to take bold steps and embrace new challenges; Trust, which forms the foundation of our strong team; Community & Sustainability, as we work together to create a positive impact on both our local and global communities; and Growth & Innovation, which drive our continuous pursuit of excellence.

DIVERSITY & WELL-BEING December 2023

We are very excited to place a renewed focus on the overall well-being of our colleagues as part of our People and Culture Strategy for 2024. Life can be trying at times and as they say, you would need to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to really understand. That is why it is so important that we are kind to one another, and also that we look after our own well-being too. Our entire industry is focused on looking after other people, and we want to ensure that we are supporting you to feel well and look after yourselves, as you do so well with our guests. We were delighted to launch our new employee assistance programme, Spectrum Life!

Enhancing Diversity Efforts Another key goal for 2024 is Diversity. We were delighted to achieve Bronze Accreditation with the Irish Centre for Diversity this year and are going for Silver for 2024/2025. There are two strands to this goal. We support our colleagues to feel “at home at work”, where our work environments are dynamic, fully integrating and recognising who we all are. We are also looking at how we can support our communities.

2023 HIGHLIGHTS BHAA Cork Radisson 5Km Road Race The Radisson Blu successfully hosted its inaugural BHAA 5K road race, attracting nearly 200 participants. In collaboration with the Cork BHAA, the race was held in Little Island, with registration and post-race refreshments provided at the hotel. The event raised over €1,000, generously donated by the hotel’s People & Culture Team to DSI Field of Dreams in support of their pumpkin patch fundraising appeal. Notably, our own Tom McKenzie placed second overall in the race. This will become an annual calendar event which we aim to grow in 2024 and beyond. Drip Drop Umbrella In collaboration with Muckross Park Hotel, we implemented an umbrella rental initiative with DripDrop Umbrella Plug & Play units. Anticipating increased usage during the winter months, particularly among corporate guests commuting to nearby companies in Little Island. This reduces our expenditure on umbrellas often lost after being loaned out. Hungry Hills Delighted to hit our sales targets of Hungry Hills beer of €13K over the past 12 months. We will liaise with Paul Mitchell regarding launching this further in 2024, starting with The Viaduct. 10 Innovation Newsletter

Your IDEAS coming to life! Coming Up in 2024 The proposed High Impact Innovation is to create a new outdoor events space at the Radisson Cork. This would be done by cutting a hatch in the existing structure of the Garden Bar to service both sides, fencing off the area to create a separate ‘space’, and building a stage area. Additionally, outdoor furniture, heating & lighting will be invested into, along with further landscaping and paving work. The total cost of this project is currently being researched and we are working with procurement to seek some supplier sponsorship for the intiative. The timeline for the project is for work to commence in Q1 2024 and to launch around St. Patrick’s Weekend/Easter. This new space could be used for corporate BBQs, weddings, and corporate team building events. The ROI in revenue for this project is estimated to be €25,000 for corporate BBQs, €20,000 for weddings, and €10,000 for corporate team building events.

Unused Spa Treatment Room Conversion of an unused spa treatment room into a Sports Therapy Massage Room. This project, set to be completed in Q1, will generate an estimated €12,500 annually from massage treatments starting at €50 per session, focusing on both local clientele and our membership base. This initiative will also be incorporated into membership offers to attract new members. See the before pic!

Big Research Project 2024

The hotel’s innovative refurbishment strategy aims to optimize underused spaces, transforming a storage basement and a redundant smoking area into profitable and functional areas. The renovation is projected to enhance revenue significantly, with a forecast of €40k in 2023 and expectations to exceed €200k over five years. The project will not only generate income but also improve staff engagement and operational professionalism. In tandem with this, a separate brand initiative could yield an additional €150k in its first year with a modest investment of €50k. We hope these areas can be reimagined to fully leverage the hotel’s existing footprint, underscoring a commitment to innovation and efficient space utilization.

Your IDEAS coming to life! BIG IDEAS FOR 2024 Extension of Function Bar We are in the final stages of a compliance and feasibility study for the expansion of our ballroom bar. This strategic development is designed to cater to larger wedding parties, thereby significantly boosting our capacity and positioning us to tap into the profitable wedding market more effectively. With the expansion, we anticipate hosting up to 20 additional grand weddings each year, which we project will generate an impressive €300,000 in additional revenue. The exact timeline for the completion of this project is still being finalized, pending the necessary approval from the Fire Officer regarding the fire exit plans. This enhancement is not only a response to feedback regarding the current bar size, which has previously led to missed opportunities and a substantial loss in potential revenue, but also a proactive step towards increasing our operational efficiency, resulting in an expected €8,000 annual savings. We look forward to seeing this intiative come to life in 2024.

Big Ideas for 2024 Muckross Spa Seaweed Baths

Enhancement

with

As mentioned previously an idea coming from Limerick but best researched for Muckross is the installation of Spa enhancements with the addition of Seaweed Baths. This is a great example of the strategic analysis of an idea to ensure the best fit property is selected based on property capabilities, aesthetics, demographics, and competitive advantage – this would be a USP in Killarney. Depending on the requirements for a boiler, installation costs will be between €20-30K. Packages will be built such as single use, treatments & bath, couples retreats. Year One projections would be €25K additional revenue, with an ROI between 2-3 years. Partnerships can be developed with local seaweed harvesters, strengthening relationships in the area.

EXPLORING INNOVATIONS SuitePad Pilot Program at Muckr SUMMARY We are constantly on the lookout for innovative solutions that not only elevate the guest experience but also contribute positively to our operational efficiency and revenue. With this goal in mind, we initiated a pilot program in Muckross Park Hotel with SuitePad, a frontrunner in digital guest communication technology, starting from July 13th. This project was designed to enhance our room service operations, improve guest interactions, and increase revenues through the integration of state-of-the-art technology.

Pilot Program Overview Our six-month pilot, featuring an option for early cancellation by December end, involved implementing SuitePad’s advanced tablets in our rooms. The model was designed for revenue generation, charging €9 to the company every time a customer opted not to have their room cleaned on the tablet. The max they would charge is 150 Euros per room in the year. Investment The total investment for this period, including upgrading room USB charging points, which totalled 10.5k and charges to the hotel for the use was 5.8k. They do not charge for the hardware.
