The floor to ceiling glass walls, IN BOTH THE MAIN and upper decks, allow guests to feel immersed in the surrounding environment even from the inside.

A glass exhibition case, enclosed within the Carrara marble staircase, displays the owner’s chosen work of art.

The owner suite includes a private office, a full-beam walk- in closet and a bathroom, which is covered in marble sourced from the same area Michelangelo carefully selected his stone from.

There is an abundance of different exterior areas in which to relax, dine, party or socialize. From the sundeck complete with bar, lounge and dining areas, solarium to the aft terraces.

Through the slits of the transom plate the first glimpse of the yacht’s tender is caught, while the extendable terraces of both sides hint at the transformative nature of this area. 194 BARCHE

They emerge from the shipyards as complex and gigantic beings, but they then float with incredible lightness. There are yachts that are born with the rare and marvellous ability of fitting in perfectly with the marine landscape surrounding them. Whatever their size, their tonnage, they look good at sea, at harbour, in the ports. The Seven Sins is 52 metres long, has 5 decks, weighs 500 tonnes, and is one of these yachts. She is the first 52Steel by Sanlorenzo, designed by Officina Italiana Design of Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, built by Sanlorenzo’s Superyacht Division in the new shipyard in La Spezia. Any description of Seven Sins has to start from the stern as it inspires one “wow” after another. It opens laterally like the petals of a flower: the two sides hide two terraces that flip over to provide comfortable access to the sea; the garage door opens and the garage floods to allow the tender to slide out easily; a panel comes down from above creating a single beach area between both terraces, and above all reveals the large glass area of the pool on the main deck. It’s jaw-dropping: the tender garage turns into a true lounge on water, with the sunshine creating drops of light through the water in the pool. The other wonderful aspect of the Sevens Sins is her liveability and the comfort on board. Guests are both protected from outside eyes and totally immersed in the outside landscape. Both the main deck and the upper deck have uninterrupted full-wall dark windows, with low furniture dividing spaces without blocking in any way the view, as do the transparent, invisible, bulwarks. The owner has a grandiose full-beam suite on the main deck, with a connecting office and a particularly large bathroom that also takes advantage of the full width of the Seven Sins (and is clad in marble from the same area that supplied Michelangelo for his statues). There are two VIP cabins and two for guests, both on the lower deck, and a sixth guest cabin on the upper deck. All the crew areas (for 10 people), including the cabins, the galley, the service area, the steering and the technical areas are all concentrated in the under lower deck, and great attention has been paid to flow on board to avoid any mutual disturbance to the crew going about their activities and the guests. Equipped with two MTU 12V4000 M63 engines, the 52Steel has a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots (burning about 340 litres/hour of fuel) and has a range of more than 4,000 miles sailing at 11 knots (139 lt/h). And all this is perfect silence. Thanks to research conducted by the Sanlorenzo Technical Office on noise and vibration reduction, the cabins and all the living areas bathe in total quiet while the Seven Sins glides, as light as air, over the water. n

Two MTU 12V4000 M63 engines allow the yacht a maximum speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and more than 4000-mile range. September-Settembre 2017
