HowwouldyoudescribeyouroverallexperienceatISB?

ISBhasbeenanexcellentfitforme Theschoolanditsteachersconsistentlygoabove and beyond to support students, helping them grow both academically and personallywhileencouragingthemtobetheirbestselves.

InwhatwayshasISBsupportedyouthroughouttheIBDPpathway?

Throughout the IBDP, I received an immense amount of support from teachers, counsellors, sportscoaches, andother ISBstaff. Their guidanceallowedmetopursue myinterestswithconfidenceandcontinuallystriveforsuccess.

Whatwillyoubestudying,andwhatexcitesyoumostaboutthatprogramme?

At the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, I will be studying Geography with a focus on environment and sustainability I am particularly excited about exploring real-world environmental challenges and developing sustainable solutionsataglobalscale

Werethereanyparticularclasses,teachers,orexperiencesatISBthathadabig impactonyourjourney?

Classes such as Geography and Environmental Systems and Societies played a key role in deepening my interest in addressing global issues through sustainable approaches. IB subjects like Biology and Math AA complemented these courses and furtherchallengedmeacademically.

What advice would you give to other ISB students who are hoping to follow a similarpathtoauniversitylikeUBC?

ISBhassupportedmethroughouttheIBDPpathwaybyprovidingastrongandreliable supportsystem.Collegecounsellorshavebeenamainanchorofsupportduringwhat can be stressful and confusing times. Additionally, teachers who are genuinely committed to our success have consistently challenged me, and helped me grow bothacademicallyandpersonally.

IwillattendMcGill’sfacultyofarts,whereIplantostudypoliticalscience.Iamexcited to be surrounded by people who inspire me, to be part of a new community, and to havenewexperiencesthatchallengeme

Werethereanyparticularclasses,teachers,orexperiencesatISBthathadabig impactonyourjourney?

Ihavealwaysbeeninterestedinpolitics,butitwastheGlobalPoliticsclassatISBthat truly deepened my passion for the subject. Mr. Binns' approach to teaching went far beyond the syllabus, he required students to read essential political literature outside thecurriculum,pushingustothinkmorecriticallyandindependently.Hisclasseswere deeply inspiring, and discussions often continued beyond the classroom and into lunchconversations,aswediscussedideasintroducedinclass.Theclassshapedme to be a more politically engaged and aware student, and pushed me to pursue politicalscienceasafieldofstudy.

What advice would you give to other ISB students who are hoping to follow a similarpathtoauniversitylikeMcGill?

Jeanne is completing the IB Diploma Programme at ISB and has been an engaged member of the school community, exploring her interests in academics and athletics. Supported by her teachers and counsellors, she has developed a strong passion for psychology and criminology and has received a conditional offer to study at Concordia University, where she will tailor her programme to these interests.

MyIBPsychologyandEnglishclassesmadeabigimpactonmyjourneyatISB,asmy teachers encouraged me to challenge myself and think critically. They pushed me to exploreideasmoredeeplyandreflectonmyownperspectives,whichhelpedmegrow bothacademicallyandpersonally.

What advice would you give to other ISB students who are hoping to follow a similarpathtoauniversitylikeConcordia?

Stay curious, work hard, explore your interests, and make the most of your teachers’ guidanceandtheresourcesavailabletoyou.

Jillian is completing the IB Diploma Programme at ISB and has fully embraced the school’s academics and extracurricular opportunities. I am completing the IBDP, and ISB has helped me explore my interests in mechanical andaerospaceengineering.

I have a conditional offer to Concordia with a strong aerospace programme that includesaco-opoption,whichIamexcitedtopursue

My IB physics and math classes played a big role in confirming my interest in engineering, and my teachers encouraged me to challenge myself. The EE, IA's, and other IB assignments also really helped me in developing important research and time-managementskills.

What advice would you give to other ISB students who are hoping to follow a similarpathtoauniversitylikeConcordia?

I would say to stay organised, take advantage of the support from teachers, and not beafraidtoexploreyourinterestsearlyon,evenoutsideofschool.Gettinginvolvedin different activities or clubs and trying new things really helps you discover what you enjoyandwhatyou’regoodat Stayingengagedintheschoolcommunitycanmakea bigdifference,bothacademicallyandpersonally
