Even with the disruptions resulting from the pandemic, the District 15 has been busy with service, meetings and the convocation. Our own Richard Smith became the President of the College globally while Dr. Rise’ Martin became the President of the ICD-USA Section. We are extremely proud to have these leaders from our District. The service and dedication of these two leaders to the College and to our profession is unparalleled. You can see the passing of the President’s Chain on YouTube. Thanks to Dr. Joey Cazares for his leadership as President this year. His leadership has strengthened the District immensely! He is also a champion in identifying and sponsoring worthy candidates for Fellowship into the college. We welcome Dr. Larry Herwig as PresidentElect. Dr. Herwig has always been active in professional organizations as well as in his community. His Curriculum Vitae is extensive. Briefly, he has served in almost every capacity of the Dallas County Dental Society, at least a dozen positions for the Texas Dental Association including Vice-President, nine panels and
councils for the American Dental Association, various positions in the Academy of General Dentistry. Larry is present at many Texas Mission of Mercy events and has received numerous honors. Additionally, he has done almost thirty professional presentations and has seven publications. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Baylor College of Dentistry. Larry will be featured in a future newsletter! The meeting in Dallas was a great success and well attended. It was nice to see familiar faces of our colleagues again. The convocation was held virtually on November 19th with Regent Adkins doing a great job recognizing the nineteen new Fellows. The new Fellows will be listed later in this newsletter and you can watch on YouTube. Congratulations to this special group!
