Sleep central Bed Show is the platform to do business For seasoned Bed Show visitors, the opening of the doors on the first day of the exhibition never gets old. Walking around the bright, bustling halls, exploring cutting-edge technologies and innovative bed products and greeting fellow bed industry members is something they never tire of. Organiser NBF works hard to keep the show relevant, making it better, bolder and more brilliant than the previous edition, something that clearly resonates with the industry, with the show recently crowned Best Furniture Exhibition (UK) in the Interiors Monthly Awards for the eighth consecutive year. This month, Bed Show returns to its familiar home of Telford International Centre on 22-23 September. As many retailers continue to expand their product offering – and with time away from the shop floor precious – Bed Show is the platform to do business with so many British and Irish bed manufacturers in one place. Nowhere else will the sector see such a wide range of bed products and
discover the latest developments across manufacturing and supply. Breasley, Carpenter, Deepsleep, Dura Beds, Enchanted House, GNG Group, Harrison Spinks, Highgrove, Sealy UK, Shire Beds, Silentnight and Sleepeezee will be among the companies taking part. Retailers can browse with confidence, knowing that all bed manufacturer
exhibitors are NBF-approved, which means that when buyers and specifiers place those orders they are actively investing in and supporting British and Irish manufacturing and the stringent standards the NBF upholds. The dedicated Supplier Zone in Hall 2 will highlight component and service providers offering premium

materials and innovative solutions, with AW Hainsworth, CPS Group, Enkev UK, Handy, John Cotton Nonwovens, Maes Mattress Ticking, Spinks, The Vita Group – USLEEP, WE Rawson and Wolf Components among those exhibiting. The curated zone should be the first port of call for all purchasing managers of bed manufacturers and those who run mattress production units. Adding fun with a competitive edge is the new duvet fitting challenge at the bottom of Hall 1 from 3pm on Tuesday and 2pm on Wednesday. With beds and bedding provided by Silentnight, visitors and exhibitors alike are encouraged to get involved and sign up at the NBF welcome desk upon arrival. The quickest person from each day to properly fit a duvet cover and pillowcases will receive two complimentary tickets for next year’s Gala Dinner and awards ceremony, worth about £300. Once visitors have registered, sponsored by John Cotton Nonwovens,

they will enjoy free Wi-Fi, courtesy of L&P Springs UK, as well as free entry and parking. Organisers encourage attendees to pick up a free visitor bag, courtesy of Sealy UK, and collect a complimentary refreshment voucher from the NBF stand for the three hall cafes. The main Hall 1 cafe, sponsored by Silentnight, will serve hot and cold food and caters for all dietary requirements. Head to the Hall 2 cafe, sponsored by Harrison Spinks, and Hall 3 cafe, sponsored by Sealy UK, for lighter refreshments. NBF Retail Champions in the scheme’s enhanced benefits tier will enjoy special VIP treatment, including premium parking, a relaxing seating area with refreshments and goodie bags. ‘Bed Show is a true celebration of creativity, collaboration and innovation across the British and Irish bed industry, and an unmissable networking opportunity for those who want to stay ahead of the game. We encourage all those planning to attend to register now
via the Bed Show website,’ says Tristine Hargreaves, NBF executive director. The Gala Dinner and 2026 NBF Bed Industry Awards ceremony takes place on 22 September, hosted by broadcaster Clare Balding. The awards, sponsored by Adjust-A-Bed, celebrate outstanding businesses across retail, manufacturing and supply over the past 12 months. The coveted awards feature four retail categories: Small NBF Retail Champion of the Year for one to two-store retailers; Medium NBF Retail Champion of the Year for businesses with three to 20 stores; National Bed Retailer of the Year for businesses with more than 20 outlets, and Online Bed Retailer of the Year for retailers where at least 80% of sales occur online. The four NBF member manufacturers and suppliers awards will recognise Bed Product of the Year, Bed Manufacturer of the Year, Component Product of the Year and Supplier of the Year. Guests can mingle beforehand at the drinks reception, sponsored by Dura Beds, featuring two glittering photo walls for teams to capture their memories in style, ahead of a formal three-course, sit-down dinner. Attendees will be the first to hear who is crowned the 2026 cream of the crop, before celebrating on the dance floor with this year’s live band Eddie & The Murphys, sponsored by Hypnos. ‘As we count down to the most prestigious event of the year in the bed industry calendar, I encourage all visitors to finalise their travel plans, doublecheck their accommodation details and download their visitor badges by registering via the Bed Show website, where they can find further information about the exhibition,’ says Hargreaves. Five alive Sleepeezee will debut a quintet of models united by comfort Sleepeezee is set to make a standout appearance at Bed Show in Telford this month, with the unveiling of five collections. Each range blends elevated style with uncompromising comfort that represents the brand’s dedication to exceptional craftsmanship, innovation and luxurious comfort. A newly refreshed Ortho range will feature, with enhanced spring counts and firmer support for customers, priced at Sleepeezee’s entry point, designed to offer exceptional value for money without compromising on quality. A new memory collection featuring Serene foam has been created to offer a more sumptuous comfort. Serene foam has the cloud-like, soft feel of memory foam but provides better airflow thanks to the microscopic air capsules throughout its design, helping to combat overheating. Serene is not affected by heat, unlike traditional memory foam, so offers a more consistent performance overall and immediately responds to your body shape as you sleep, for enhanced comfort. Tranquil Luxury features responsive layers of latex and is finished with an internal tufted construction to provide a smooth and soft sleep surface for the perfect night’s sleep. The internal tufts help keep all of the comfort layers in place, meaning no glue has to be used, helping to ensure the mattress can easily be broken down and recycled at the end of its life. Alongside these will be two etailspecific ranges, to help broaden its etail partners’ offerings, as well as new headboards that will offer more design choice for consumers. Sleepeezee remains committed to delivering innovative, high-quality sleep solutions that meet the evolving needs of its customers. Visit Sleepeezee on stand C50 at Bed Show on 22-23 September to be the first to experience the new collections. Visit: sleepeezee.com

Transformation Kaymed has invested more than £3m Kaymed has completed a £3m transformation programme designed to accelerate innovation, strengthen manufacturing capabilities and deliver greater value for customers and consumers. A new Laader Berg Maxfoam continuous PU foam pour line has been installed at the company’s Dublin foam manufacturing facility. The £2.7m investment introduces advanced automation, real-time monitoring and enhanced production traceability, creating one of the most technologically advanced flexible foam manufacturing environments in the region. The new equipment delivers improved product consistency, enhanced quality assurance and greater manufacturing efficiency, enabling Kaymed to further expand its portfolio of Fusion comfort foams. The investment will also reduce waste streams by almost 2% and lower energy consumption by about 3.6%. A further £350,000 investment in C3 Technology foam block compression and roll-packing equipment strengthens Kaymed’s sustainability and logistics capabilities. By significantly reducing shipping volumes, with up to eight times better load yields, the technology improves transport efficiency, lowers carbon emissions and enables more sustainable movement of products throughout the supply chain. A new advanced planning and scheduling platform provides end-toend visibility across the manufacturing process, from foam production to

finished mattresses. By integrating every component, work centre and production stage across both foam and finished mattress operations, the system enhances planning accuracy, streamlines decision-making and improves responsiveness to customer demand. The transformation programme has significantly strengthened Kaymed’s ability to develop, test and commercialise innovative sleep solutions. Upgraded factory environments, expanded production capabilities and a new stateof-the-art laboratory provide enhanced facilities for product development, testing and validation. ‘These investments across our people, technology and manufacturing capabilities strengthen every part of our innovation platform, from foam development and bed-in-box production to premium finished mattresses. Together with the spring expertise of Leggett & Platt, it gives us a unique opportunity to create sleep products that others simply cannot replicate,’ says Aiden Costello, Kaymed md. ‘Most importantly, these investments enable us to help our customers win through better innovation, more reliable supply, improved sustainability and enhanced sleep experiences for consumers. This level of integration provides customers with greater quality control, product innovation and supply chain resilience.’ Kaymed has also made a significant investment in people, strengthening its

It will showcase the next generation of its sleep products at Bed Show at Hall 2, stand D30. ‘Developed in partnership with Leggett & Platt, one collection combines advanced foam technologies with the expertise of the world’s leading spring systems manufacturer to deliver fresh thinking in sleep comfort and wellness,’ says Costello. Sleepers before springs Silentnight is marking 80 years by looking to the future As Silentnight celebrates its 80th anniversary, the company is continuing to invest in the future of the category through product innovation, brand building and a commitment to responsible business. Since 1946, Silentnight has evolved alongside the changing needs of British sleepers. Eight decades later, and understanding consumers and translating those insights into relevant sleep solutions remains central to the business. While 2026 provides an opportunity to celebrate 80 years of sleep expertise, the focus remains firmly on what comes next. Product innovation continues to be driven by a simple principle: understanding how people really sleep and developing solutions around their needs. This year sees two propositions join Silentnight’s established core range, extending its existing comfort technologies to tackle familiar sleep challenges in new ways. Yours + Mine addresses one of the most common dilemmas couples face when choosing a mattress: different
12
Interiors Monthly September 2026
comfort preferences. The split-tension mattress combines a softer feel on one side with firmer support on the other, allowing each partner to choose the comfort that suits them without compromising on the mattress they share. Available across the UltraGel and MemoryCool ranges, the Yours + Mine support system brings a greater level of personalisation to two established comfort propositions, while giving retailers a simple, consumer-friendly solution to a long-standing purchase barrier. Every Season responds to another key consumer need: temperature. Designed
to adapt with the seasons, the mattress is flippable to offer two distinct sleep experiences in one. The summer side uses a MemoryCool comfort layer to help sleepers feel cooler and more comfortable during warmer nights. When temperatures drop, the mattress can be flipped to reveal a cocooning memory foam side, providing a warmer, sink-in feel for the colder months. The result is a practical year-round solution for consumers and a distinctive proposition for retailers with an immediately understandable benefit. The introductions reflect Silentnight’s
BEDS AND BEDROOM
wider approach to product development: sleepers before springs. Whether addressing different preferences between couples or changing comfort needs throughout the year, innovation starts with a real consumer problem. By building on the technology and expertise already established within Silentnight’s core portfolio, Yours + Mine and Every Season broaden consumer choice while creating fresh reasons to engage with the category. Alongside product innovation, Silentnight continues to invest in building brand awareness and keeping better sleep front of mind. At the heart of this is Sleep Great, Britain: its longstanding brand platform encouraging the country to recognise the importance of a great night’s sleep. Over the past year, Silentnight has continued to build on the campaign’s success, re-running its hero creative across socials and YouTube, where it has again delivered strong results. Its continued performance demonstrates the longevity of the creative and the strength of a proposition rooted in Silentnight’s core purpose: helping Britons sleep better. The campaign has also evolved to reach consumers in new ways, combining paid media with creator partnerships and social-first content to bring Silentnight’s sleep expertise to life in engaging and culturally relevant ways. For retailers, continued brand investment goes beyond visibility. Maintaining awareness, reaching new audiences and keeping sleep part of the consumer conversation all help support consideration and demand across the category. With Sleep Great, Britain continuing to deliver, Silentnight is now looking at how the platform can evolve further into 2027. Visit: silentnight.co.uk
80 YEARS – AND A NEW CHAPTER Silentnight’s 80th anniversary provides a natural opportunity to reflect on how far the business has come since it was founded in Lancashire in 1946, but the celebrations are as much about the future as the past. UK manufacturing remains at the heart of the company, combining decades of expertise with continued investment in people, product development and modern manufacturing. In its 80th year, Silentnight has became a certified B Corp, marking a significant milestone in its approach to responsible business. The globally recognised certification reflects high standards of social and environmental performance, governance and transparency, building on continued investment in sustainable manufacturing, circular economy initiatives and employee wellbeing. Eight decades of heritage bring considerable expertise and consumer trust, but maintaining that position requires continual progress. From new product propositions and continued brand investment, to UK manufacturing and B Corp certification, Silentnight enters its ninth decade with the same fundamental focus that has guided the business since 1946: understanding what sleepers need and helping the nation sleep better.

Board and Sealy’s advanced research and development facility: a key ingredient to its continuous innovation programme, and something the company remains focused upon. In a market that has seen some challenging trading conditions this year, Sealy is looking to generate consumer interest and stimulate appeal through meaningful innovation. At the helm of its new collections sits a new Sealy Posturepedic range that introduces Sealy’s next innovation in coil technology. ‘After seven years in the research and development programme, it brings a new level of engineering and
performance into the category. This is accompanied by further enhancements to the core Sealy Posturepedic ranges, with a bold new direction for this bestselling range that has grown exponentially since its launch in 2021,’ says Johnstone. The Sealy Select range will also be on display. Launched in March, it has already been praised by the industry as a smart addition to the line-up, presenting a commercially viable range whilst providing all of the build quality and performance longevity retailers have come to expect from the brand. ‘We are extremely excited about these
new collections. They are exceptionally designed, with careful attention to every detail. It is our unique coil systems and premium quality that have fuelled our growth in recent years, and we will continue to build on this success. Setting ourselves apart with meaningful product innovation not only enables us to further build the brand but also brings opportunities to our retail partners by providing them with innovative products for their consumers. The future looks promising for Sealy, and our partners.’ Sealy will be exhibiting on stands B20 and C10 at Bed Show. Visit: sealy.co.uk

Highgrove Beds: Building on a Strong 2026 It has already been a significant year for Highgrove Beds, with industry recognition, continued investment in the brand and a clear focus on strengthening the support it provides to retail partners. The Yorkshire manufacturer heads to the 2026 NBF Bed Show following a particularly strong period, having been named Best UK Bed Manufacturer in the Furniture News Readers’ Choice Awards 2026 and Best Bed Manufacturer – Mid Market in the Interiors Monthly Awards 2026. For Highgrove, the awards provide welcome recognition of the work taking place across the business – from manufacturing and product quality to the relationships it has built with retailers throughout the UK.
A strong and established portfolio At this year’s Bed Show, Highgrove will showcase a broad selection from across its established portfolio, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the quality, comfort and breadth of the Highgrove offer first-hand. The stand will feature products spanning a variety of comfort technologies and specifications, alongside Highgrove’s Elements collection and Power Adjust adjustable bed range, comprising Premium, Optim and Tech Plus.Together, they demonstrate the breadth of choice Highgrove can offer retailers and their customers across different comfort requirements and price points.
Investing in retailer support Highgrove is also continuing to invest in how it supports its retail partners beyond the product itself. A major redevelopment of the Highgrove Beds website is underway, designed to create a stronger consumer journey while providing retailers with improved access to product information, marketing materials and useful sales support. This investment forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen Highgrove’s presence across digital, marketing and retail channels, helping drive consumer awareness while continuing to support the independent and national retailers behind the brand.
Made in Yorkshire Highgrove Beds has manufactured beds and mattresses in West Yorkshire since 2002 and today operates from an extensive manufacturing site in Liversedge. The business has grown considerably during that time, but its focus remains firmly rooted in quality manufacturing, commercially relevant products and long-term retailer relationships. And with Highgrove approaching its 25th anniversary in 2027, the business is looking ahead with confidence – building on more than two decades of experience while continuing to invest in the brand and the retailers who have helped establish it. Your Brand. Your Legacy. Our Innovation. is Shire’s evolved message Shire Beds is delighted to return to Bed Show, bringing a collection of new products, innovation and bestsellers that continue to perform strongly for its retail partners. This year, its stand – F40 – is about putting customers’ brands at the centre of what it does. Shire has updated its Brand Behind Your Brand message to: Your Brand. Your Legacy. Our Innovation., reflecting its commitment to helping retailers create distinctive, commercially successful product ranges of their own. Shire believes retailers want more than another mattress on their floor: they want products that reflect their brand, meet the needs of their customers and give them a genuine point of difference. ‘Define it: tell us what your brand stands for, who your customer is and where you want to position yourself. Together, we can identify the product proposition that works for your business. Shape it: our product development and manufacturing expertise allows us to bring those ideas to life – from mattress construction and comfort levels to materials, fabrics, finishes and specifications. Own it: the result is a product that becomes part of your own brand story. We provide the expertise and manufacturing capability: retailers build the brand and the legacy,’ says Fara Butt, Shire Beds director. ‘At Bed Show, visitors will see this approach brought to life through an exciting mix of product launches and innovative sleep solutions, developed in response to changing consumer

It will be at Autumn Long Point (Long Eaton, 14-16 September), Bed Show (Telford, 22-23 September) and Autumn Furniture Show (Telford, 7-8 October). Wiemann has added a new slider option to the Monaco 3000 collection. Opportunity Asking better questions and explaining sleep wellness more clearly are key Consumers do not need convincing that sleep matters. While Purecare’s UK Sleep Study found that almost everyone considers sleep to be important to overall wellbeing, it showed a clear gap between recognising the importance of sleep and understanding how to improve it. Overheating remains one of the most common problems, with 60% of study respondents saying they regularly become too hot during the night. Stress and anxiety affect almost half of those surveyed, while nearly 70% identified themselves as side sleepers, reinforcing just how important the right pillow and support can be. The research also highlighted a major opportunity around mattress protection. A third of consumers say they do not use a mattress protector. When those using non-waterproof products are included, more than 80% may not be adequately protecting their mattress. For Purecare, these findings have helped shape a broader approach to sleep
26
Interiors Monthly September 2026
wellness. ‘The opportunity for retailers is not simply to sell more products but to better understand the problems affecting each customer’s sleep and recommend solutions,’ says Paul Lake, Purecare and PureLay UK and Europe head. ‘Pillows are a good example. Sleeping position, temperature, preferred feel and individual support requirements can all influence the right choice. The successful expansion of the Norfolk Feather programme during 2026 has given Purecare an even broader platform from which to support this conversation. ‘The collection now includes Wool Lux, designed around wool’s natural temperature-regulating properties, innovative Fusion Fibre pillows featuring dual-core hollow fibre technology and enhanced airflow, and traditional feather and down options. These sit alongside Purecare’s established Wave, Nano and Groove wellness pillows, providing retailers with options across a range of comfort preferences and price points.’ Purecare’s OmniGuard protection range
received Good Housekeeping Approved Status 2026 recognition for Allergy Protection, reinforcing the role specialist protection can play in maintaining a cleaner, healthier sleep surface. However, products alone do not solve the problem. ‘The research only becomes valuable when it changes the retail conversation. Purecare’s specialist training, category expertise and in-store support are designed to help sales teams ask better questions and explain sleep wellness more clearly. TV in-store displays and dedicated merchandising options can further simplify areas such as pillow choice, temperature management, hygiene and protection. For retailers, this can create genuine commercial benefits. More informed conversations can lead naturally to stronger pillow and mattress protector attachment rates, while customers leave with solutions better suited to their individual sleep needs. ‘Purecare will be exhibiting at Bed Show, where retailers can explore the complete sleep wellness portfolio and discuss training, sales strategies and in-store opportunities with the team. The biggest lesson from the study is perhaps the simplest. Consumers already know that sleep matters. The opportunity now is to help them understand what may be preventing them from sleeping better and give retailers the products, knowledge and confidence to provide the right solutions,’ says Lake. Doing more Consumers want more than a focus on comfort The expectations placed on sleep products are changing. Comfort remains fundamental, but increasingly it is only one part of the equation. Consumers are becoming more aware of the role temperature, airflow, pressure relief, moisture management and long-term support can play in the quality of their sleep. That means the modern sleep surface has to do more than simply feel comfortable at first touch. For PureLay, this has shaped the way its products are designed. The focus is on creating a complete sleep environment where each material has a clear purpose and contributes to overall performance. Rather than relying on one feature or one headline technology, PureLay combines materials to create a balanced sleep surface designed around comfort, breathability, support and durability. Temperature regulation is one of the most important considerations of the company. Heat build-up can quickly disrupt sleep, so airflow and moisture management need to be considered throughout the construction. This is why latex plays such an important role within
28
Interiors Monthly September 2026
the PureLay design process. Its open-cell structure helps encourage airflow, while its responsive properties allow it to adapt quickly to body movement. Latex also provides pressure relief and resilience, helping the sleep surface maintain a consistent level of comfort throughout the night and over the longer term. But latex is only one part of the story. PureLay also combines premium sleep surface materials including Tencelenriched fabrics, cotton, wool and cashmere. Each contributes something different to the overall sleep experience. Tencel fibres support breathability and moisture management, cotton adds softness and airflow, wool helps regulate temperature and moisture, while cashmere brings a luxurious and comfortable finish to the sleep surface. The strength of the design comes from how these materials work together. Rather than focusing on one isolated benefit, PureLay creates a sleep surface where temperature management, pressure relief, responsiveness and comfort are considered as part of the same experience.
‘Pressure relief is equally important. A good sleep surface should respond as the body moves, cushioning key pressure areas while maintaining consistent support. Latex helps create a more immediate response, allowing the sleeper to change position without feeling restricted by slower-moving comfort materials,’ says Paul Lake, head of Purecare and PureLay UK and Europe. Consumers expect the feel of a sleep product to remain consistent well beyond the first few nights. That places greater importance on resilience, recovery and the ability of materials to retain their performance over time. ‘For PureLay, these considerations are built into the product from the outset. The result is a sleep surface designed not around one material, one claim or short-term trend, but the way different elements combine to support better sleep. ‘As sleep wellness continues to influence consumer expectations, the strongest products will be those that deliver performance through the night and continue to do so over time. Better sleep is not created by a single component. It comes from designing every part of the sleep surface to work together.’ Email: sales@purelay.co.uk

Complete journey Customer relationships should not end at the checkout ‘For bed retailers, selling a mattress is about more than comfort and support. Consumers are increasingly looking for complete sleep solutions that protect their investment and provide reassurance throughout the life of their purchase,’ says Robert Jones, Staingard national sales manager. Mattressgard, part of the Staingard group, offers a comprehensive range of mattress protectors, complemented by pillow protectors and the Cool Pillow collection, allowing retailers to make protection and comfort an integral part of the complete bed purchase. ‘A key focus for Mattressgard this year is the new POS programme, designed to make the benefits of mattress protection more visible and easier for consumers to understand. Effective POS gives both customer and salesperson a valuable prompt, helping turn an oftenoverlooked accessory into a natural part of the sales conversation,’ says Jones. ‘Rather than leaving protection until the end of the transaction, retailers can introduce it earlier. A new mattress represents a significant investment, so discussing how customers can care and protect it is a logical extension of the sales process. The Cool Pillow collection further extends the conversation into the wider sleep environment, aligned with the Mattressgard mantra of Sleep Well, Live Well.’ Staingard’s broader offering allows that relationship to

continue beyond the initial sale, with care plans and products designed to support customers in caring for and protecting their purchases. ‘Staingard is proud to be a familyowned and family-run business, and we believe this resonates strongly with many of our retail partners. There is a shared understanding of the importance of relationships, trust and personal service. Our ethos is simple: to care and protect. That philosophy runs through everything we do, from our care plans and products to the Mattressgard range. We want to help our retail partners give their customers greater confidence while building long-term customer relationships. This joined-up proposition – protect the product, care for the customer and provide peace of mind – creates additional opportunities for retailers to add value while demonstrating expertise.’ These developments will be showcased Cotton Fresh and Premium Quilted mattress protectors at Bed Show, where

Mattressgard and Staingard will be exhibiting on stand D60 and visitors will be able to explore the Mattressgard mattress and pillow protection ranges, pillows, new POS materials and Staingard’s care plans and products. ‘The show will provide an opportunity to demonstrate how retailers can build a complete protection and care proposition around any bed or furniture sale. The customer relationship should not end at the checkout. Care and protection can become part of a longerterm relationship, helping retailers add value while giving consumers greater confidence in their purchase,’ says Jones. Visit: staingard.co.uk

Every stage Supporting the full product lifecycle continues to grow in importance The mattress market continues to evolve as consumer expectations change, product innovation is accelerating and supply-chain resilience remains a key priority. Retailers are increasingly looking beyond traditional manufacturing relationships and seeking partners that can support the entire product lifecycle. As a result, end-to-end mattress solutions are becoming an important differentiator across the sector. Usleep has responded to this shift. Rather than offering manufacturing as a standalone service, the Dunkinfield, Greater Manchester business – part of The Vita Group – provides a fully integrated approach spanning product design, testing, manufacturing, storage and delivery. This model enables customers to streamline operations and bring products to market more efficiently. The need for speed and flexibility has never been greater as retailers are under pressure to respond quickly to changing consumer trends, while hospitality operators require dependable supply partners capable of delivering consistent quality at scale. At the same time, product performance and quality remain critical considerations, placing greater emphasis on technical expertise and robust quality assurance processes. Collaboration during the development phase can deliver significant advantages. Early involvement in product design and testing helps ensure products meet performance expectations, align with market requirements and can be

manufactured efficiently. By integrating these functions under one roof, complexity can be reduced and speed to market improved. Innovation continues to play a central role in mattress development, with advances in foam technology, comfort engineering and materials science helping the development of products that deliver enhanced pressure relief, support and durability. Usleep benefits from access to technical expertise, research capabilities and material innovation that support the development of finished sleep products. Equally important is the ability to maintain quality standards throughout the production process. Certifications and industry accreditations provide reassurance to customers and consumers alike, demonstrating a commitment to
responsible manufacturing and product quality. Usleep operates an ISO9001certified Quality Management System and holds certifications including OEKO-TEX, CertiPUR, ISCC PLUS and SMETA 2-Pillar, while also being a NBF member. As the sector continues to evolve, manufacturers that combine technical expertise, innovation and operational flexibility will be well positioned to support the next generation of sleep products. For retailers, brands and hospitality providers, the value increasingly lies not just in sourcing a mattress but in partnering specialists that can support every stage of the journey from concept to consumer. Usleep will be showcasing its capabilities at this year’s Bed Show on stand E105. Visit: thevitagroup.com

Starting point Options, ordering, stock, payment and delivery all need to be fulfilled For many retail systems, the point of sale is exactly that: the place where a transaction is completed. A product is selected, payment is taken, a receipt is produced and the sale is finished. Furniture retail is different. A customer buying a bed, sofa or dining set may be choosing from multiple fabrics, colours, sizes and configurations. They may be placing an order that will not arrive for several weeks, paying a deposit, arranging finance and agreeing delivery. In many cases, the point of sale is not the end of the transaction at all: it is the beginning of a much wider operational process. That is why Ordorite’s point of sale has been designed specifically around the realities of furniture and bed retail. Furniture rarely exists as one simple SKU. A bed purchase could include a

Interiors Monthly September 2026
frame, mattress, headboard and storage options, while a sofa may have different fabrics, feet, sizes and layouts. Ordorite allows those choices to be captured directly within the order, creating a clear product specification from the outset. Stock visibility is equally important. While speaking to a customer, sales teams need to know whether an item is available, held at another location, already allocated or needs to be ordered. By connecting the point of sale with wider inventory information, Ordorite gives the store greater visibility of what is happening across the business. The customer record also becomes part of the process. Contact details, order history, delivery information and payments all remain connected, helping teams build a clearer picture of the customer relationship long
after the original visit. Furniture purchases frequently involve more complex payments too. Customers may pay a deposit, settle the remaining balance later or use finance. Ordorite allows those transactions and outstanding balances to remain linked to the relevant order. Delivery requirements can also be captured from the beginning. Information recorded at time of purchase can follow the order through purchasing, stock allocation, warehouse preparation and ultimately delivery, reducing the need for separate systems and repeated data entry. This is perhaps the most important distinction between a generic point of sale and a furniture retail management platform. An order created in Ordorite does more than record a sale: it becomes the starting point for purchasing, supplier management, inventory allocation, warehousing, payments, delivery planning and customer service. The point of sale may be one of the most visible parts of Ordorite but behind it sits the wider infrastructure needed to fulfil everything promised to the customer. Because in furniture retail, completing the sale is only the first step. Ordorite will be exhibiting at Bed Show on stand E90. Visit: ordorite.com

Naturally engineered Enkev will introduce Heritage Wools and Botanical Sustainability in the mattress industry is often framed as a future challenge. Yet, in many ways, it is a return to what has always worked. Long before polyurethane foam became the standard, mattresses were built with breathable, resilient materials that supported comfort in a simple, effective way. Wool, cotton, flax and horsehair were not alternatives: they were the foundation of sleep. As the industry reassesses its reliance on chemically intensive fire-retardant systems, material choice is becoming increasingly significant. Enkev creates opportunities to design mattresses that meet essential safety requirements while also supporting greater material simplicity, transparency and recyclability. For the end consumer, this translates into something simple: a better night’s sleep, built on materials they can trust. The return to natural performance is reflected in Enkev’s Heritage Wools: a collection of region-specific British and GOTS-certified wools selected for their functionality, local heritage and traceable sourcing. Each fibre brings its own character and performance qualities, from softness and climate regulation to resilience and lasting structural support. Rooted in place and backed by tradition, the collection connects authentic regional stories with contemporary mattress design. At this year’s Bed Show, Enkev will introduce a collection inspired by the quiet beauty and diversity of the botanical world. It brings together soft, breathable GOTS-certified organic

cotton with lavender, daisy, dandelion and buttercup fibres. The range includes GOTS-certified British wool combined with lavender and daisy; GOTS-certified cotton with daisy and dandelion; and a thermally bonded blend of GOTScertified cotton, cottonised hemp, lavender, dandelion, recycled highfrequency acoustic absorbing fibres and recycled polyester. Long valued in traditional botanical practices, these plants are celebrated for their heritage, distinctive character and connection to nature. Each construction brings together thoughtful sourcing, distinctive botanical character and natural comfort, inspired by the uplifting qualities of a spring meadow. Consumers are more aware of what is inside their mattress, how it is made and how it contributes to their sleep environment. Breathability, freshness
and durability are no longer added features: they are essential. The next generation of mattresses will not rely on a single material or technology but on smart combinations of natural fibres, advanced design and engineering to enhance comfort, extend product life and reduce environmental impact. ‘Enkev works with its partners to translate material science into tangible consumer benefits, while keeping solutions scalable and commercially viable. Greater sustainability will not come from one innovation but from many interconnected decisions made across the value chain. The future of sleep is not entirely new – it is a refinement of what has always worked: natural materials, intelligently applied for today’s consumer,’ says Chris Francis, Enkev UK md. As the industry reassesses its reliance on chemically intensive fire-retardant systems, material choice is also becoming increasingly important. Natural fibres such as wool can support fire-safe constructions while helping reduce dependence on added chemistry and enabling greater material simplicity, transparency and recyclability. These collections reflect the ENKEV® approach: combining natural comfort with purposeful design and measurable performance.

Responsibilities
SATRA will be exhibiting at Bed Show and The Flooring Show
Quality assurance, product testing and technical due diligence are key to building consumer trust ‘As companies prepare to showcase their latest innovations at Bed Show and The Flooring Show, there is a growing focus on demonstrating product quality, durability and compliance,’ says Johnny Worthington, SATRA business area manager – furniture and floorcoverings. ‘Innovation continues to drive the interiors sector. New materials, manufacturing techniques and sustainability initiatives are helping businesses to develop products that meet changing consumer expectations. However, alongside innovation comes the responsibility to ensure that products perform as intended throughout their service life, and comply with relevant safety and performance requirements.
40

‘The modern consumer is better informed than ever before. Product reviews, sustainability claims and increasing awareness of quality issues mean that they expect products to deliver long-term value as well as aesthetic appeal. Whether investing in a mattress or carpet, customers increasingly expect evidence that products have been designed and made to recognised standards. ‘This places greater importance on product validation during the development process. Testing is no longer viewed simply as a final hurdle before launch. Increasingly, businesses are using testing and technical assessment throughout product development to identify potential
weaknesses, improve designs and reduce the risk of failures once products reach the market. ‘In the bed and mattress market, durability, strength and product safety remain key considerations, particularly as new materials and construction methods are introduced. Within the flooring sector, manufacturers continue to focus on areas such as durability, wear resistance and product performance under everyday use. Across all sectors, ensuring that performance claims can be supported by evidence has become increasingly important. ‘Sustainability also remains high on both industries’ agendas. Manufacturers are striving to extend product life, improve resource efficiency and reduce waste, and events such as Bed Show and The Flooring Show provide an excellent opportunity for retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and industry stakeholders to discuss these challenges and share best practice. Collaboration across the supply chain remains essential in maintaining consumer confidence and supporting continued growth within these sectors. ‘As market expectations continue to evolve, businesses that invest in quality assurance, product testing and technical due diligence will be best placed to demonstrate reliability, reduce risk and build lasting trust with their customers.’ SATRA will be exhibiting on stand E50 at Bed Show and M9 at The Flooring Show.
