Desde hace varios años la Secundaria del Instituto La Paz se ha caracterizado por el dinamismo de sus representantes estudiantiles, y este ciclo escolar no fue la excepción. Uno de sus objetivos ha sido el fortalecer la unión entre sus integrantes y aprovecharon las fechas cercanas para divertirse un rato y rescatar tradiciones tanto de la segunda lengua que manejamos en la institución como la lengua materna. La mesa directiva de la Sociedad de Alumnos, encabezada por Mildred Pineda y Nicté Martínez, convocaron a dos eventos: un concurso de disfraces para recordar la tradición de Halloween (29 de octubre) y un concurso de “Calaveritas literarias” (30 de octubre), oportunidades que no desaprovecharon los estudiantes para hacer gala de la creatividad en sus disfraces para ambas fechas y en el diseño de sus escritos.

LA CATRINA ESTABA MUY CONTENTA DE TENER MÁS COMPAÑÍA PERO LOS DE CARNE Y HUESO VIVÍAN CON EL MIEDO DE PERDER A SU FAMILIA. NO PODÍAN SALIR Y TEMÍAN POR SUS VIDAS MIENTRAS EL RUMOR DE QUE UN NUEVO VIRUS SE APROXIMARÍA.

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION
18 1 B MISS PATY CASTILLO Halloween Party: A virtual celebration! It was a different celebration the first virtual Halloween class party. We began with a spooky Halloween Parade, all the children were very happy. Then we watched a creepy Halloween story followed by preparing a scary cooking recipe called the Dracula denture! We enjoyed creating a skeleton with cotton swabs and finally we danced along to the song: “This is Halloween�. We showed that here in our virtual classroom, everything is possible and if we believe in ourselves, nothing will stop us from having fun and reaching our true potential.

Sin embargo, todos siempre juntos se hicieron cargo de las diabluras En 2019 terminaron primer grado Y con sigo la paciencia de la misses se habían llevado Una puerta y ventana durante su estancia rompieron pero lo compensaron haciendo las mejores piñatas. Lupita aterrada en la escuela estaba, pues ella de otra cárcel llegaba Y no contaba con que Stefa a quienes les cantaba embrujaba En otro colegio Jaime se la rifaba ya que la poesía coral bien recitaba Al escenario Ana Pau subió a recibir el galardón pues una gran interpretación el guapo construyó. En el baño Diego y Quique stickers pegaban mientras Gael y Yamil un lychee se aventaban Ana Sofia asqueada el ventilador encendía puesto que Zetina pegatinas le adhería, Mota de la silla se cayó, la ceja se abrió y como Frankenstein quedó. El 2020 llegó y a todos a cuarentena mandó, Ximena la coreografía desde su hogar preparaba Pues Mildred y Nicté al grupo representaban Isa tranquila estaba porque dos metas nos esperaban. A Solé un susto le daba, pues el espíritu de Unda a ella atormentaba Asustada Fernanda se hallaba mientras Karla su café apenas tomaba. En 3°D todos felices estaban puesto que la victoria de las abejas catrinas festejaban, sin saber que la muerte las vigilaba mientras la miss un examen sorpresa les preparaba. Santamaría se reía a carcajadas ya que Perla no paraba sus payasadas, A Patricio las greñas el Chavis le arrancaba porque celoso de su melena él residía . La Catrina desesperada se encontraba pues el Internet para entrar a la clase no le llegaba, mientras que de los del D mal parloteaba, pues con ella creía que ni a los talones le llegaban Pero no aceptaba que quería una familia que mil primaveras la acompañara. La cosa ahí no terminó, la catrina de furia se llenó y a Giovanni encerró Pero la prefecta le dijo: ¡Alto ahí por favor! y la sudadera le quitó. En 2021 su historia se acabaría pues cada quien una historia distinta escribiría; Caminos diferentes los huesudos tomaron, pero los recuerdos de la familia del éxito en el cementerio grabados quedaron.

Ana Ximena y Ana Paula preparaban una rutina Y la Parca observó que tenían mucha disciplina La Muerte las está esperando Mientras ellas muy contentas siguen entrenando. Halloween and Day of the Dead Last Friday the 30th of October we celebrated Halloween and the Day of the Dead, the children dressed up and for the first activity they had to describe their costume, without turning on the camera, whilst we all tried to guess how they were dressed up. We played with puzzles, danced, practiced Halloween words and finally created a spider with a “pingüino”, a pumpkin and a roll of paper. The children really enjoyed their activities, it was a day of learning with lots of fun and was finished off by sitting down to a scary picnic where the children shared a little legend or story. Some of them made an offering for the Day of the Dead which they shared with their classmates, leading to a wonderful reflection. We really had a great and scary day!

As every year we do activities to celebrate Halloween. This occasion we started with costumes from Monday October 26th to make it more fun and letting imagination fly with various costumes. Many of the students enjoyed this daily dynamic in which they showed off their best costumes and put their creativity into practice. I loved seeing them always with a smile and waiting for the next day to put on the other assigned wardrobe. It didn’t take much to have them do the challenge and have fun.
No doubt this occasion was different but without losing sight of the goal which was having fun! They did activities in which the kids were performing some crafts, we danced the famous song of Thriller by Michael Jackson and sang songs like The Phantom of the Opera. The children enjoyed a day of different, playful and fun activities, leaving aside the books and topics to be seen that day. I’m sure the kids had a lot of fun just like I did.

HALLOWEEN MISS AMY OCT 30TH 4ª AND 4B
We hold a special place in our hearts for Halloween at Instituto La Paz. It is always lots of fun and a chance for the kids to let their imagination run wild. We all need that to look forward to, especially now, during this pandemic. Yes, Halloween this year was different as it was in a virtual form. My students got dressed in spectacular disguises and they could choose the “Best Halloween costume”. They recited some tongue twisters about Halloween and chanted together “The 5 little pumpkins.” Then, they prepared their 3 color sheets and started tracing some figures without knowing what they were doing, but once they glued each part together, they discovered that it was a funny bat! It was now the time for dancing and they showed their best dance steps through the camera lens. The song “This is Halloween, Halloween” was performed by them enthusiastically. Later, the teacher asked: “Do you know the origins of Halloween?” Students spoke about what they have learned, read and seen through different sources, which allowed them to answer 2 worksheets on the subject. I was so proud of them as I listened to their written stories. One of my students shared with the class, how in Italy they celebrate this day because his family is from Italy and how it is very similar with the day of the dead in Mexico. Finally, they could read some scary stories together whilst eating popcorn and then they shared some legends from our country. I hope they really enjoyed this virtual Halloween and I know we are going to remember this day when we came together to celebrate and learn new traditions.

HALLOWEEN AND DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION Teacher Daisy OsoĂąos HernĂĄndez. First Grade Every year we celebrate at school Halloween and Day of the Dead with enthusiasm and creativity. This year was pretty different due to the pandemic but I knew we could handle it. I felt fabulous having fun with my learners, working with a variety of activities in order to have fun and make that day memorable and unique. Also, I was surprised about their outstanding costumes, I saw them confident and full of motivation during the whole class. They enjoyed all the activities that I prepared with love and dedication. At the end, our celebration was successful and all of us ended the day with a big smile from ear to ear.

In 2nd grade A and B, the students talked about their costume and had fun dancing. Next we made a haunted house and they enjoyed this activity because they were very creative decorating it. They also played KAHOOT and watched a video about Halloween.

Second grade students were very happy to enjoy dressing up in their favorite Halloween costumes, whilst they danced and sang along to spooky Halloween songs. They were extremely creative as they carved online pumpkins, and demonstrated their knowledge through our Halloween trivia task. We decorated a haunted house and listened to some creepy Halloween stories.

Halloween Celebration 3rd and 4th Grade Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31st and on this occasion students learned the main facts around this celebration. They learned where this tradition comes from and they wore fantastic and very creative costumes to express their understanding.
