Our Curriculum We have developed our curriculum to inspire both our day and boarding pupils to reach their full potential. From our ELS to Sixth Form, we aim to provide a nurturing, progressive, and academically rigorous environment. Our teaching staff uphold the principles of equality and aspiration. Early Learning School and Junior School Early Learning School (3 months to 4+ years) At Reddam House, we believe that children are confident, capable learners from birth, and our Nursery School focuses on this by offering an enriched Early Learning curriculum. We take a ‘rhythm of the day’ approach to our daily activities rather than a structured timetable. This allows young learners to engage in a variety of activities designed to support developmental milestones. From stage 4, our core childcare staff are supported by experts in music, dance, drama, sport, visual arts, and modern foreign languages. In addition, our Early Learning facilities have been carefully designed to meet the specific needs of each preschool age group and include dedicated classrooms and specialised outdoor areas.
Junior School (Reception to Year 6) Our Junior School’s curriculum is broad with an outstanding teaching and learning environment. We bridge the gap between academic rigour and creative discovery for children aged 4 to 11. Our approach to literacy and numeracy gives students the right foundations to thrive in Junior School and beyond. Middle School & Senior School Middle School (Years 7 to 9) In Middle School, our educators prioritise confidence and ensure students feel supported throughout their academic journey. Students in Year 7 spend more time with their tutors and Year Coordinator to build self-assurance to excel in this next stage. By Year 9, we provide Learning to Learn (L2L) lessons that unpack the latest research into how we learn and remember. These lessons offer practical methods for the best study strategies available to build the right study habits. We focus on balancing core academics with contemporary, skills-based courses that prepare students for the demands of senior school. Students have a wealth of choice when it comes to their subjects and extra-curricular activities; it is this academic breadth and depth that gives students the head start on GCSE success. The Reddam Aspire to Be Programme is a unique school initiative that fosters emotional wellbeing, global citizenship, personal growth and career success. Senior School (Years 10 to 11) Our world-class GCSE curriculum is both challenging and flexible for our Year 10 and 11 students. Reddam House’s dedicated educators get to know each student and play a vital part in their success in the GCSE exams. This high standard of teaching and learning is reflected in the consistently outstanding GCSE grades achieved by our Secondary School pupils. Secondary School students generally study 10 subjects, which include Maths, English (Language and Literature), Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as standard, and then choose four more subjects from a selection including Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Drama, Art and Design, Dance, Physical Education, Media Studies, Business Studies, and Music. Starting in Year 9 and ending in Year 10, pupils will complete the Higher Project Qualification, which helps them build the skills they will need for higher education. The course covers referencing, essay writing, how to write a bibliography, creating a presentation, and researching and deploying secondary and primary sources. In Year 11, students sit GCSEs and choose between A-Levels and BTECs in Sixth Form.

Sixth Form Sixth Form (Years 12 to 13) Sixth Form students can choose from a diverse range of A-Level subjects and will receive full support from teachers and tutors during this challenging two-year programme. Our pupils have consistently achieved outstanding A-Level results and developed the skills they need to enter higher education in the UK and abroad, with the majority of our Sixth Form graduates securing acceptance into world-leading universities. Our students receive year-round guidance with one-toone tutoring sessions and personalised support. Our assessment programme is innovative and prepares students for A-Level exam success. Before the first term of Sixth Form, Year 12 students have individual meetings with subject leaders and the Head of Sixth Form to discuss subject options. Under the guidance of our Sixth Form tutors, each student creates a unique A-Level subject pathway consisting of three or four A-Level courses.

CHEX Programme Challenge & Extension Programme (CHEX) Our unique Challenge & Extension (CHEX) Programme is a cornerstone of academic life and part of the vocabulary of Reddam House from our Early Learning School through to Senior School. It forms part of every lesson’s teaching philosophy, from formal academic to practical pursuits, and we encourage all our students to embrace it. CHEX is woven into the fabric of school life at Reddam House. Every classroom has a CHEX display that provides guidance on how to improve in a subject. Our co-curricular activities encourage the exploration of new interests, friendship building, and the development of personal qualities, attitudes, and skills to create well-rounded individuals.
Performing Arts Reddam House Berkshire offers a variety of performing arts activities to allow students to express their creativity in a variety of ways. From big stage productions and recitals to debating and public speaking, students can ignite their passion for performance and develop their talents for dance, drama, speech, and music. Every student is encouraged to learn a musical instrument and join our choirs, orchestra, ensemble, rock band, and productions. We have a dynamic music programme, which includes lessons in drums, piano, flute, violin, and singing. Visual Arts Our visual arts programme includes both traditional media such as sketching, painting, sculpture, and screen printing, as well as more modern art forms such as photography, animation, and movie-making. Combined Cadet Force We have our own army section of the Combined Cadet Force for Year 9 and 10 pupils. They are given the opportunity to develop a number of skills, including leadership, first aid, map reading, drill, shooting, fieldcraft, expedition training, and survival skills. Year 9 students will focus on achieving their Basic Proficiency Certificate before moving onto more advanced topics in Year 10. Senior cadets can then advance and become Non-commissioned Officers and contribute to the training of younger cadets.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme In Year 9, students begin the first level of the Duke of
Edinburgh Award. Training covers navigation, safety, and hiking in order to complete the assessed event. Pupils progress through the different award levels – bronze, silver and gold – during their time at Reddam House. There is always a lot of excitement around the awards, especially when students visit the Palace to receive their Gold Award. Reddam Adventure Department Our beautiful, sprawling school estate is the perfect setting for the Reddam Adventure Department (RAD). Students have the opportunity to develop courage, collaboration skills, responsibility, and self-belief through fun and challenging outdoor activities. RAD is integrated into our wellbeing programme and is an opportunity to learn from our outdoor classroom.

Our Campus The Reddam House Berkshire campus is located in the heart of the countryside on a 125-acre parkland near Wokingham. Welcoming both day and boarding students, Reddam’s centrepoint is our Victorian mansion which is home to world-class facilities designed to inspire pupils to achieve their full potential each day.
Classrooms Our classrooms are purpose-designed for each age group to enhance learning outcomes. Students have access to the latest learning technology including VR headsets and our Metaverse school experience. Our science labs have been developed with the futureready student in mind, with students from Junior School and up engaging in lessons and experiments.
Sports Facilities Students have access to some of the county’s top sporting facilities. These include two sports halls, a 25m heated indoor swimming pool, a fitness suite, a hockey astro, five netball courts, four outdoor tennis courts, and multiple rugby, football, and cricket pitches. We also have athletic facilities and a pavilion, clay-pigeon shooting, and an indoor shooting range, while our golfers can play at the neighbouring golf course. .

Boarding We offer an exceptional boarding experience for national and international students aged 11 to 18. Our three private boarding houses have all been newly renovated within the last 10 years, offering comfortable en-suite facilities and a welcoming home-from-home environment. Dedicated boarding tutors live on site, providing daily support, guidance, and care. In the evenings and at weekends, students benefit from a tailored boarding programme designed to build confidence, independence, friendships, and a strong sense of community.

Pastoral Care Our staff are highly trained and know students as individuals, which is crucial to our pastoral care. Pupils are never short of someone to talk to, whether it is a member of our teaching staff, tutors, mental health first aiders, or the school counsellor. The Aspire to Be Programme helps to develop resilience and focuses on mental health and wellbeing. We also have a peer mentoring scheme that sees Year 10 students work with younger pupils.
Catering & Nutrition At Reddam House, we ensure that all pupils have access to nutritious meals and build healthy eating habits from an early age. By providing complete, nourishing meals, we are enhancing their focus and overall learning outcomes. All students receive drinks and fresh fruit during morning break and at 4:00 pm. Admissions Process
Step 1 Application: Submit an online application form and arrange payment of the non-refundable registration fee.
Step 2 Assessment: Students from Year 3 onwards will sit an entrance assessment, and students from Year 7 upwards will also have an interview with the Head of School.
Step 3 Taster Day: Where appropriate, students may be given an opportunity to take part in a Taster Day at Reddam House.
Step 4 Reference: We will request a reference from your child’s current school.
Step 5 Offer Letter: If your child is successful, they will receive an offer letter.
Step 6 Sign Final Documents: Submit a signed acceptance form and pay a deposit to secure your child’s place.
