AOITORI is the community magazine for Japanese people in Belgium.✨
Let's visit Folon Museum, currently hosting an exhibition featuring the work of Mr. Kengo Kuma, one of Japan's leading architects.
The museum, originally a farm in La Hulpe surrounded by lush nature and founded by Belgian painter Jean-Michel Folon, is now showcasing Kuma's architectural achievements and philosophy.
It features numerous models of buildings themed around dialogue with nature, including the new National Stadium in Tokyo (2020), making it well worth a visit. (Exhibition text is in French, English, and Dutch.)
My recommendation is a leisurely plan: start the day with a visit to the Folon Museum, see the Kuma exhibition, have lunch at the restaurant, visit the château de La Hulpe, and enjoy a nature walk (& picnic?). Have a wonderful weekend in May!
