AOITORI is the community magazine for Japanese people in Belgium.
Lisa Koo Gautama is an artist with talents in poetry, dance, and photography. Although she was born in Belgium, her family has roots in Indonesia. The stage performance titled GAUTAMA, created as her graduation project at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, is based on the turbulent story of Lisa's grandfather, who fled from his country Indonesia in the 1970s. At that time, violent riots were raging in Indonesia, and the situation was extremely difficult and dangerous, especially for the Chinese population. We interviewed Lisa in Ghent to find out more about her roots, her grandfather, now 87, and her thoughts behind her creations.
- Our AOITORI magazine (paper version) is distributed at the Japanese Embassy, food stores and contact points. We provide advertising opportunities for Belgian companies and organisations.
