Education must be practical, regionally grounded, leadershipfocused, and fully integrated into Africa's development priorities. This belief has been reinforced through all my experiences building capacity across the continent.

I have been privileged to mentor and train generations of scientists who are now themselves shaping the next wave of professionals across Africa. Africa must transition to competency-based education—one that prioritizes problem-solving, creativity, analytical thinking, and practical application. With the rise of artificial intelligence and tools such as ChatGPT, students can easily access information, but critical thinking and independent reasoning must remain central.
