Largest Fleet Expansion To Date For 2027 ~Luxury Boutique River Cruise Line Unveils Brand New Super Ships, and Several New Journeys Across Europe and Asia~
LOS ANGELES – October 28, 2025 – Uniworld Boutique River Cruises announces its most extensive collection of new offerings yet, unveiling four ships and six itineraries launching in 2027. New ships include three brand-new Super Ship builds, the S.S. Audrey, S.S. Marlene, and S.S. São Rafael on Portugal’s Douro River, as well as exclusive sailings on the Aqua Blu, marking the brand’s debut in Singapore and Indonesia. “2027 is shaping up to be a landmark year for us at Uniworld as we introduce four remarkable new ships to our guests and a range of itineraries that blend cultural immersion, luxury and adventure,” says Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld. “From honoring the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich aboard our newest Super Ships, to exploring the rich landscapes of Singapore and Indonesia with the Aqua Blu, these additions mark an exciting chapter of growth and continued elevation.” New Ships for 2027 The S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene will join the fleet in 2027 with a similar layout to sister ship S.S. Emilie, debuting in 2026. While the S.S. Emilie channels the artistry of Gustav Klimt with bold jewel tones and Art Nouveau touches, the Audrey and Marlene will each showcase interiors inspired by the screen legends they are named for, Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich. Both icons were born in Europe, making their influence a seamless fit with Uniworld’s tradition of bringing local stories to life onboard. The brand-new builds will pay homage to the stars’ elegance and cinematic glamour, and will both sail the rivers of Europe. Joining them is the new S.S. São Rafael, a brother ship to the S.S. São Gabriel, expanding Uniworld’s popular Douro River voyages in Portugal. The name São Rafael is a nod to Portugal’s legacy of exploration and maritime history. In Vasco da Gama’s first voyage to India in 1497, São Gabriel served as the flagship, while São Rafael sailed alongside under the command of Paulo da Gama. The final addition to the fleet is the Aqua Blu, a sleek expedition yacht operated in partnership with Aqua Expeditions. New Itineraries In 2027, Uniworld will launch six new itineraries across Europe and Asia. Bali, Singapore & Indonesia Expedition: This 13-night journey is unlike anything Uniworld has offered before, pairing three nights in Bali with a seven-night expedition cruise aboard the intimate, 15-suite Aqua Blu, followed by a three-night luxury stay in Singapore. Guests will sail along Indonesia’s coastline, with rare access to Komodo National Park, the Spice Islands, Pink Beach and more. Along the way, guests can spot manta rays, whale sharks and Komodo dragons, as well as dive, snorkel and kayak in some of the world’s most untouched waters. On land, immersive experiences include exploring Ubud’s temples and rice terraces, discovering Balinese village life and indulging in a Peranakan cultural encounter in Singapore. This LimitedEdition Collection voyage will operate only twice in 2027, offering travelers a blend of tropical escape, cultural immersion and small-ship luxury that is still uniquely Uniworld. Paris, Prague & Germany’s Hidden Gems: An 11-night journey on the new S.S. Audrey, this itinerary will blend stays in Paris and Prague with a cruise through the heart of Germany along the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Travelers can explore the romantic ruins of Heidelberg Castle, canoe through a scenic nature reserve and enjoy pretzels straight from the oven in centuriesold bakeries. Along the way, they’ll also sip fine Rhineland wines in Cochem, wander medieval lanes in Wertheim and end the journey in Prague, known for its culture, architecture and worldfamous beer. Scenic Rhine, Paris & the Swiss Alps: An additional 11-night journey aboard the S.S. Audrey, this itinerary will combine luxurious hotel stays in Paris and Zurich with a Rhine and Moselle River sailing through France, Germany and Switzerland. Activities include enjoying freshly baked bread at a historic mill surrounded by one of Germany’s most beautiful private gardens, hiking through vineyards, cycling along the river and exploring Roman ruins in Trier, all while indulging in Moselle Rieslings and Swiss cheeses along the way. European Gems: This journey will be a special one-date-only, 14-night departure aboard the S.S. Emilie from Amsterdam to Vienna. This limited-edition cruise brings together the very best of Europe’s most iconic waterways, sailing the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers in one seamless voyage. Guests will glide past castle-topped hills, charming medieval towns and capital cities, discovering the cultural and culinary treasures that make each stop unforgettable. Grand Highlights of the Danube: This is a 16-night adventure that will weave together two guest favorite itineraries: ‘Highlights of Eastern Europe’ and ‘Enchanting Danube.’ Guests will sail for 14 nights on the S.S. Marlene along the Danube, from the storybook towns and vineyard-clad hills of Austria’s Wachau Valley to the architectural treasures of Budapest and beyond. Castles Along the Rhine & Amsterdam: Expanding on one of Uniworld’s most popular itineraries, ‘Castles Along the Rhine’, this new nine-night journey will include two nights in Amsterdam. Inspired by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt and named after his life partner, Emilie Flöge, the ship is an all-new build set to debut in Europe in the spring of 2026. The S.S. Emilie will showcase Uniworld’s most advanced sustainability innovations to date, serving as a blueprint for the brand’s next generation of ships. “Julie’s unwavering dedication to advancing our sustainability goals makes her the perfect Godmother for the S.S. From energy-efficient systems to advanced water and waste management technologies, every element has been carefully considered to ensure a more environmentally responsible rivercruising experience. On the S.S. Emilie, guests have the opportunity to take part in a variety of MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experiences – hands-on excursions focused on sustainability and giving back. Along the Rhine, guests can join a Refugee Canal Cruise in Amsterdam led by expert guides sharing stories of cultural resilience, visit an authentic dairy farm practicing sustainable cheese-making, and explore the Netherlands’ green initiatives via electric city tram and sustainably powered water taxis. Polina Bulatetskaya promoted as Fleet Front Desk Operations Manager Polina will use her impressive skill and demonstrated success in leading the People side of our Front Desk Operation. Polina is known for her fairness, passion, ability to reflect and to analyze, and dedication towards learning and personal development of others her wonderful organization and ability to put plans into motion which always lead to tangible outcomes, as well as her love and understanding of the Front Desk team as a “beating heart” and central hub of the hotel operation. In loving memory of Yavor Ivanov Nanev
It is with sincere regret and deep sadness that I share the news that our colleague, Yavor Ivanov Nanev, has passed away while on personal adventure travels, shortly after completing his 2025 season on SS Victoria. Yavor had been a valued member of our restaurant team since 2018 and served on many of our ships throughout the years. During his time with us, he touched the lives of countless people and will always be remembered for his gentle, calm, and consistently polite manner with everyone he encountered—whether colleague, guest, friend, or acquaintance. He brought dedication, hard work, and exemplary teamwork to his role and to all of us around him. His loss is deeply felt. Some of Yavor’s colleagues have shared messages to pay tribute to him, reflecting the profound impact he had on those who knew him.
“I am absolutely heartbroken and deeply shocked to hear the tragic news about Yavor. Words cannot fully capture what an incredibly good, kind - hearted, and wonderful person he was. Yavor was truly one of a kind. He was always smiling, bringing light and positivity to all of us. His presence in the team will be deeply missed.” Zori “The news of his passing saddened us deeply. For me, Yavor was the one who taught me with patience and generosity how to work on board. He also gave me feedback and sometimes corrected me so I could become better at my job. A Week To Remember: Uniworld’s First Women-Only Cruise By Patricia Prado, Director of Global Product Development & Strategy
From the very first day, you could feel it—something special was happening aboard the S.S. Catherine. The energy was electric. Women from all walks of life—solo travelers, couples, lifelong friends, and even three generations of one family—came together not just to explore, but to connect, laugh, and celebrate. Day by day, the magic unfolded. In Arles, we wandered through a museum honoring the women of Arles and their traditional art of dressing. Later, the lounge filled with the calming scent of lavender as we learned the craft of wand weaving. That evening, flamenco dancers lit up the stage with fire and soul. In Avignon, what began as a walking tour transformed into a private garden concert at the home of a local artist. We blended perfumes, shared stories, and ended the night beneath the stars at Pont du Gard, watching a UNESCO site come alive through light and sound. Grignan brought truffle hunting with clever dogs, wine tasting, and a fascinator workshop that had everyone preparing for the glamorous Black & White Night. Rachel Dratch of Saturday Night Live stole the show with her comedy set, and the celebration continued with dancing and fabulous headpieces. Every experience felt personal—because it was. From exclusive onboard workshops and special evening entertainment to a magical candlelight concert in Lyon, each moment was thoughtfully crafted just for us. Even the pajama party became an unforgettable karaoke night, full of laughter, singalongs, and photo-booth fun, all while lounging in our cozy Lunya pajamas. By Day Two, the question on everyone’s mind was already: “When’s the next one?” This wasn’t just a cruise. It was a celebration of women, joy, and unforgettable memories. A huge shoutout to the amazing crew and the product team who made everything run so seamlessly. Every detail, every smile, every surprise—bravo!

The Annual Chefs Summit in Boppard By Robert van Rijsbergen, Culinary Director Each year, something remarkable happens as UNIWORLD brings together its culinary talent from across the fleet for the Annual UNIWORLD Chefs Summit — a gathering where chefs don’t just meet, but learn, inspire, and elevate one another. This year’s summit took place in the heart of Boppard, aboard the elegant S.S. Elisabeth. More than a meeting, the summit is a celebration of craftsmanship: a showcase of flavor, innovation, and imagination. Over several days, the ship transforms into a creative studio of aromas, ideas, and artistry. Chefs present new dishes, refine recipes, and plate creations worthy of the world’s finest dining rooms. Every dish is photographed, documented, and perfected, forming a shared gallery of culinary excellence for the season ahead. The training sessions added even greater depth: • Culinary workshops where techniques are sharpened and skills are exchanged. • Leanpath sustainability training, ensuring our kitchens remain responsible, efficient, and forward-thinking. • Presentations and open discussions that spark creativity and strengthen teamwork. Breast Cancer Awareness 2025 By Astrid Veldwijk, Efficiency Manager
Why was October called Pink October? Last October was dedicated to breast cancer awareness—a month that reminded us that awareness can truly save lives. While raising awareness is often just the first step for many health issues, with breast cancer, awareness itself can directly make a life-saving difference. By understanding the importance of self-exams, knowing the risk factors, and keeping up with regular screenings, women were able to detect breast cancer early—when treatment is most effective. But Pink October was about more than early detection. It was a time to show compassion and support for those affected by breast cancer—not only for those diagnosed but also for their families, friends, and communities. It was a moment to come together, share knowledge, and create a network of care and encouragement. These actions, though simple, had a profound impact. Last October, we honored Pink October by spreading knowledge, offering support, and encouraging proactive health habits. Every conversation, every share, every act of care contributed to a world where breast cancer could be detected early and lives could be saved. Welcome to Thierry Lutz,
Manager Docking Infrastructure & Development 1. How did you start your career with Uniworld? After taking several months off to refocus on what truly mattered, I felt the desire to return to the cruise industry. I discovered Uniworld’s job posting by chance, and the responsibilities— combining my past experience with my more recent projects—made it an ideal fit. 2. What is the best work experience you have had so far? I don’t like to look back in that sense; I believe the best experience is still ahead of me. 3. What are you most proud of in your career so far? I’m proud of where I am today. Everyone follows their own path, and no one should feel anything but pride in what they’ve accomplished. All my past actions and choices—both personal and professional—have led me to Uniworld, and I’m proud to be here now. 4. What or who inspires you? Nature inspires me enormously—its adaptability and its way of responding to human mistakes are fascinating. I feel a deep need to reconnect with natural environments, and I’m fortunate to live near places that remain relatively untouched. 5. What are your hobbies? I love hiking and cycling above all else. When I’m at home, I try to dedicate as much time as possible to listening to music, reading, writing, and watching old films. 6. What skill would you like to master? I would like to become irreproachable in terms of life skills—perhaps I would say: absolute resilience. 7. What’s the best way to start the day? First, I avoid being woken up by an alarm clock. Then, I go for a walk in nature. It’s healthy, stimulating, and helps clear my mind.
8. Where is the most interesting place you’ve been? I was fortunate enough to travel to Japan a few years ago. In the Japanese Alps, I discovered a place that exuded a unique serenity: an authentic village with rice paddies lining the streets and traditional thatched-roof houses, just like in the old days. It was called Takayama, and I have a very special memory of it. 9.What was the best book or series you’ve ever read or seen? I don’t watch series, so I’ll mention a book—or rather two. They are among those that have inspired me the most: Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse and Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. 10. Favorite quote? I really appreciate meaningful quotes. My current favorite is from Nelson Mandela: “I never lose. Either I win or learn.” 11. Any message to your colleagues? I would like to tell them how much I look forward to our future collaboration and thank them once again for their warm welcome. I truly believe in our collective talent, and I believe ambition fuels innovation. So, let’s aim high and create something beautiful—at worst, it works!
Guest comments River Duchess - Classic Christmas Markets “This was our 15th Uniworld Cruise, but our first Christmas cruise. It was wonderful, although cold and dreary. However, the Ship made up for the weather with the terrific service and warm atmosphere. I will start with the Cruise Manager, Ivan was fabulous!! very engaging and he even gifted us with a traditional dance from his home country! The Hotel Manager, Carolina was wonderful, extremely friendly. The Restaurant Manager, Vladimir is one of the best managers we’ve had. Norman the Assistant Restaurant Manager was very attentive to us, and a joy to talk with, I look forward to seeing him in the future as Restaurant Manager. Other notables that exceeded expectations, were Ana Filipa, very hard worker, Georgie and Desi both remembered us from another cruise and always made sure we had everything we needed. All were a delight to see every day. In the Bar, I have to give a big shout out to Venelin! He took very good care of us and was fun to engage with. Christmas Special Recipe
Gingerbread cookies INGREDIENTS For the gingerbread cookies: 5 pc. Fresh eggs / 375 gr sugar / 500 gr honey / 1.5 kg flour / 500 ml oil / 10 gr cinnamon powder / 40 gr soda bicarbonate / 20 ml vinegar For the icing sugar: 1 large egg white / 200-220 gr powder sugar / 1 tsp lemon juice / Colors as you need (gel or powder)
DIRECTIONS For the cookies: Mix all ingredients till you get a nice nonstick dough. Roll one sheet that is maximum 1 cm tick. Recommended is 6mm thick. Cut dough shapes with special cutters and bake them on a tray with parchment paper at 175°C for 6-8 minutes. Let them cool down, then decorate as you want, with icing sugar or merengue, or chocolate. For the icing sugar: Whip the egg white only until it is very soft (we don’t want merengue stage). Add the powder sugar and whip until it gets dense and slowly runny. Add lemon juice and whip till it incorporates the lemon juice, not more. Now you can add the colors as you want. Use straight away. If you want to keep it longer, cover well the surface with clim foil, to avoid drying out and cracking.
