LREC is excited to host our Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, April 25. This is your opportunity to participate in the democratic process of electing your board members who oversee LREC and LRTC. Save the date and mark your calendar for your Co-op Annual Meeting! The meeting will be at LREC Hulbert Headquarters located at 516 S Lake Region Road, Hulbert, OK 74441
Each member account registered at annual meeting will also receive a $30 electric credit and have their name entered into a raffle for cash prizes totaling $3,500 after the Annual Meeting. The membership will vote on two open-board seats. The voting will be conducted in an in-person drivethrough format. Please bring your bill for quicker registration.
We will also have a business meeting in the Event Center at our Hulbert Headquarters at 1:05 p.m., where our CEO will provide members with an update on the co-op’s financials. No prizes will be presented during this business meeting; it will consist solely of the financial update.
LREC’s success depends on guidance from its Board of Trustees, consisting of seven democratically elected individuals from the membership. The board governs the cooperative by setting strategic goals, rates, and cooperative policies.
If you have difficulty spending an extended amount of time in a vehicle, please take precautions accordingly. This will be our sixth year hosting our Annual Meeting in the drive-through format, and with our past experience, traffic will flow quickly.

Lynn Lamons is a Cherokee County farmer and rancher who has spent his entire life in the Lake Region Electric Cooperative service area. He graduated from Tahlequah High School and is a Hulbert resident. Lynn has been an active member of the Cherokee County 4-H Club for many years. Lynn has served on the LREC’s Board of Trustees for the past 21 years. He has earned credentials as Cooperative Trustee, Board Leadership Certification, and Director Gold Credentials from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Lynn has played an active role in guiding the cooperative through changes in the electric utility industry. He has worked to ensure that the cooperative provides reliable and affordable electric service to its members. Currently, Lynn serves as Vice-President of the board.
Dianna Mayfield is a lifelong resident of the Shady Grove community and has been a member of Lake Region Electric Cooperative for approximately 56 years. She is a graduate of Hulbert High School and holds a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northeastern State University. Dianna owned and operated Cherokee Nation Towers with her late husband for 23 years and has served on the LREC Board of Trustees for the past eight years. She holds the Credentialed Cooperative Director certification and the Board Leadership Certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Dianna is the mother of two children and grandmother to six grandchildren. She is committed to serving LREC members and helping guide the cooperative through informed leadership and a dedication to industry best practices.
Stanley Young of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has been a member of LREC since 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Education and spent 42 years serving LREC before retiring as Director of Marketing. During his career, Stanley gained extensive knowledge of the cooperative and its operations while working closely with members and communities throughout the service area. His experience can provide insight into the needs of LREC members and the electric cooperative industry. Stanley and his wife, Judy, have two children, Kaycee and Terry, and four grandchildren: Silas, Stanton, Maggie, and Mazzie. He has also been active in his community, serving six years on the Tahlequah Chamber Board, fifteen years on the Wagoner Chamber Board. He also serves as Chairperson of the Personnel Committee at First United Methodist Church of Tahlequah. Stanley is committed to helping guide LREC by making decisions that help keep rates fair for all members.
Alan Vann of Cherokee County has been a Lake Region Electric Cooperative member for eight years. He has two children and six grandchildren. Alan attended Norwood and Fort Gibson schools and completed two years of vo-tech training. Alan brings nearly four decades of experience working for Cherokee County, including the past five and a half years serving as Road Foreman and Deputy County Commissioner. His background includes operating heavy equipment, overseeing road and bridge construction, and understanding the costs and planning involved in infrastructure projects. He has also served on the Commissioners’ Board in the absence of his commissioner, contributing to important county decisions related to infrastructure and public service. Alan is seeking a position on the Lake Region Board of Trustees to serve the community he loves, help ensure reliable and affordable energy, and be part of something bigger than himself while supporting fellow members.
Chairman Manes called the Annual Meeting of the members of the Lake Region Electric Cooperative, Inc., to order on April 26, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at Hulbert School Auditorium. The Chairman then announced the business session would suspend and resume immediately at 1:05 p.m. after the members registration and voting on matters on hand was closed. The registration and voting period was from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on this Annual Meeting date. Chairman Manes recessed the business session until 1:05 p.m.
The recessed business session was resumed at 1:05 p.m. and called to order by Chairman Manes. He called upon Assistant General Manager Glen Clark to give the invocation.
CEO Vahdatipour gave the Welcome and Introduction of Directors. He then asked Assistant General Manager Glen Clark to give the Financial Report. He then introduced Cooperative Attorney Tina Glory-Jordan who then presided over the meeting.
Attorney Glory-Jordan reported that at the close of registration, 1,797 members had registered and voted. Attorney Glory-Jordan then declared that a quorum was present, and the meeting proceeded.
Upon motion made and seconded, the reading of the Notice of the Meeting mailed to all members and the proof of mailing were waived and approved as presented. The motion carried unanimously.
During the process of the day, the election ballots were cast and counted. Members voting was conducted through a drive-through method using an electronic voting system provided and conducted by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives. There were two positions open for a three-year term.
Attorney Glory-Jordan reported on the voting results and on the matters at hand:
a. Attorney Glory-Jordan reported on the election results. Nominees Gary Cooper received 1,197, Randall Shankle received 1,425, James Walls received 1,129 and Stanley Young received 640 votes. According to the election results, incumbents Gary Cooper, Randall Shankle and James Walls were elected to the positions of Trustees of the Lake Region Electric Cooperative, Inc. for a period of three years.
b. Members also voted to approve the 2024 Annual Meeting minutes as presented.
Old Business – There was no old business to come before the members.
New Business – There was no new business to come before the members.
With no other business to come before the meeting, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the Annual Meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

LRTC’s fiber crew answered the call for mutual aid in Mississippi to help restore damaged fiber infrastructure. Austin Fletcher, Tyler Rowland, Ethan Chuculate, and Cooper Whitlock traveled to assist Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association, working alongside crews to repair and rebuild fiber lines affected by Winter Storm Fern. Lake Region is proud of these employees for stepping up to support fellow cooperatives and their members. Their dedication reflects the cooperative spirit of helping neighbors in times of need.

Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) is proud to announce the winners of its 2026 Youth Tour Contest. Cameron Atwell of Sequoyah High School, Adriana Ledezma of Porter Schools, and Levi Kirk of Hulbert High School have been selected to represent LREC on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 13–19, 2026.
Each year, LREC invites high school juniors within its service territory to participate in the Youth Tour contest by submitting an essay on the topic of Oklahoma’s rural electric cooperatives. Schools select their top two finalists, who then compete in LREC’s final contest. A panel of three judges evaluates the students based on their knowledge of the subject, personality, speaking ability, and presentation skills. All students who advance to the final question and answer round receive a $50 cash prize.

service area to present information about the history of electric cooperatives and the Youth Tour program. She praised the students and educators who participated, saying, “We appreciate the hard work and dedication of both the students and teachers who took part in this year’s contest. We have some bright young kids in our service territory.”
During the trip, the students will visit Capitol Hill to meet with Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation and explore historic sites including the Smithsonian Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Pentagon, the White House, and Washington’s iconic monuments.
