The project of Hotel Jakarta included the design of 200 hotel rooms and suites and a wide range of public spaces: big restaurant with bars and live kitchen (Café JKRT), Lounge bar, bakery-café (Bakkerij Westers), Wellness, Sky bar (Malabar), conference center and lobby. All custom pieces of the public spaces and the rooms were designed to the detail aiming to follow the architectural project in their transparency, lightness, and serenity. Hotel Jakarta stands on the western edge of Java Island on the northeast side of Amsterdam, a place that used to be a departure point of merchants to and from Indonesia. Recalling its former use, the hotel holds a subtropic garden in its heart and is made almost entirely by wood. It gives the feeling of not being in Holland but at the same time Hotel Jakarta became so quickly and famously a Place in Amsterdam. Hotel Jakarta hosts the residents of Java Island, tourists from all over the world and enthusiast Amsterdamers equally 7 days a week, either in its mesmerizing open wide spaces or outside on the banks of the Ij River.
