2026 Inland Power Board Elections - Districts Five and Seven

Asa member of Inland Power, you are a stakeholder in the utility. This ownership brings various benefits, including local control and accountability, which means you play a role in selecting co-op leaders. At Inland Power, our elected board members are referred to as “trustees.”

The term “trustee” encapsulates the essence of their role. Co-op members place their trust in board members to maintain the strength of the cooperative. The responsibilities extend beyond merely attending board meetings. Trustees must familiarize themselves with the complexities of the energy sector and anticipate challenges in delivering affordable and reliable power. They are responsible for crafting a long-term sustainability plan for the cooperative, hiring the CEO, engaging with members, advocating for the co-op, and defending members’ interests at every

opportunity. Trustees should make every decision, whether significant or minor, with the members’ best interests in mind.

If you feel this role is a fit for you, Inland Power’s nominating committee is currently accepting applications for board positions in districts five and seven. To receive the candidate packet that outlines qualifications, responsibilities, and the application process, please contact Teresa Eggleston by emailing teresae@inlandpower.com or calling (509)789-4250. Interested candidates must submit a certificate of eligibility, complete an application, and provide a photo by Thursday, Oct. 31, 2025.

The member-driven nominating committee will convene in December to evaluate all received applications and make nominations based on those who meet the necessary qualifications. Additionally, co-op members

may also be nominated by petition, provided they submit the required applicant documents.

Candidates will prerecord a two-minute speech, which will be filmed at the Inland Power headquarters. Dates for this recording will be finalized once candidates are confirmed. The videos will be available on inlandpower.com and SmartHub for the election.

Election results will be disclosed at our Annual Meeting on March 28, 2026. Each active membership is entitled to one vote for each district being contested. Look out for election and voting information, which will be mailed to you by early February.

Descriptions of the territories and a map of districts five and seven are shown on page 2 further details.

Enhancing Home Comfort and Efficiency with Smart Technologies Smart Thermostats Smart Lighting Smart

Smart technologies are revolutionizing our homes, making them more comfortable, convenient, and energy-efficient. By linking your home Wi-Fi network, smart devices can automate daily tasks such as lighting, heating, cooling and home security, allowing them to communicate seamlessly with one another.

While not every smart home product is specifically focused on energy savings, several technologies can significantly reduce your energy consumption. Here are the top three smart home devices to help you save:

SMART THERMOSTATS

Regardless of being smart or traditional, your thermostat is a crucial tool for managing energy use, as heating and cooling often represent the largest part of your energy bills. Smart thermostats enable you to adjust indoor temperatures via an app, providing complete control from anywhere. Many models even feature learning capabilities,

Plugs

adjusting settings based on your past behavior and patterns.

According to the Department of Energy, smart thermostats can lower heating and cooling expenses by over 8% annually, and with prices starting at just $65, they typically pay for themselves within a year.

SMART LIGHTING

Smart LED bulbs consume less electricity than their traditional counterparts and can be programmed or controlled remotely through a smartphone app. These bulbs come in a variety of shapes, brightness levels, and colors, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your lighting needs.

Many smart bulbs feature motion sensors that automatically turn on or off based on room activity, optimizing energy use even further. If you’re new to smart lighting, consider starting with a home starter kit, with prices ranging from $70 to over $300, depending on the number of bulbs included.

SMART PLUGS

Smart plugs are affordable devices that help you save energy effectively. Many electronic devices continue to draw power even when turned off, known as “phantom load,” which can increase your energy bills. Smart plugs simply connect to an electrical outlet and your Wi-Fi network, enabling you to cut off power to non-smart devices like coffee makers and phone chargers when they’re not in use.

Many smart plugs can also integrate with popular smart hubs like Alexa or Google Nest, or be controlled via their associated app. They are easy to use, with sets of four available for as low as $25.

If you’re seeking innovative and budgetfriendly ways to conserve energy, consider incorporating these convenient smart home technologies into your life.

Make your voice be heard!

Inland Power recognizes the significance of cultivating relationships with elected officials across all levels of government. Numerous critical policy issues have a direct impact on electric utilities and, ultimately, on you—our valued members whom we proudly serve. By strengthening our connections with elected leaders, we enhance our ability to advocate for our communities.

Although Inland Power operates as a locally-owned cooperative, we are part of a broader network of electric cooperatives. There is strength in numbers, and when we all participate in the electoral process, we can effectively voice the issues that matter most to our communities.

Additionally, Inland Power has launched the Grassroots Action Team. Our goal is to empower you as advocates by providing information and resources to help you support your cooperative. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit inlandpower.com/grassroots-action GET OUT THE VOTE!

National Voter Registration Day is on September 16, 2025. If you’re eager to participate or want to ensure you’re ready to vote, here are some simple ways to fulfill your civic duty:

1. Check your voter registration status. Don’t assume it’s current; verify it at nationalvoteregistrationday.org/register-to-vote/ 2. Beyond ensuring your registration is updated, learning about local policy issues and candidates is one of the best ways to prepare for voting.

3. Engage on social media. Follow @coopsvote on Facebook, X, and Instagram, and share that you’re a #coopvoter.

4. Encourage friends and family to participate. Vote! It’s the simplest—and most crucial—way to exercise your civic responsibility.
