he holiday season has arrived, bringing along extra lights, increased appliance usage, and cooler temperatures in your home. To help you manage this surge in demand, we've put together 12 days of energy efficiency tips that you can easily adopt this festive season. 12 DAYS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY TIPS: TIPS:  Adorn your home with LED holiday lights instead of traditional incandescent bulbs.  Set a timer to turn off holiday lights at night while you sleep.  Lower the thermostat when guests arrive to keep energy use in check.

 Close the fireplace damper when there’s no fire burning.  Ask Santa for a smart or programmable thermostat to enhance energy savings.  Going out of town? Unplug appliances and electronics to save energy.  Gifting new electronics or gadgets? Look for the ENERGY STAR® logo.  Keep the winter chill outside by sealing air leaks around your home.  Open blinds and curtains during the day to let natural sunlight warm your space.  Consider rechargeable batteries and chargers as thoughtful stocking stuffers!

 Preparing a holiday feast? Use the oven light to check your dish's progress instead of opening the door.  When your holiday tree is lit, turn off lamps to enjoy a cozy atmosphere.
