FEBRUARY – APRIL 2026
WELCOME
to the Inside Gold Coast Magazine!
There’s a new rhythm to the Gold Coast right now. The days feel full and everywhere you look something exciting is opening, evolving or levelling up. This edition captures that sweet spot between what’s new and what’s next.
From February through April, the Coast leans into its best self, and so does this issue. We’re stepping inside the playful world of the Hello Kitty Café at Pacific Fair, raising a glass to Broadbeach’s newest Italian arrival, Oro by Sogno, and setting the scene at Southport’s bold new opening, Kaktus Bar. Each one brings its own flavour, personality and reason to add another pin to your must-visit list.
As always, this edition is about discovery. The places worth booking, the spaces worth lingering in, and the stories shaping the way we eat, drink and spend our time right now. Whether you’re planning your next long lunch, a spontaneous night out or a weekend wander, consider this your go-to guide.
So clear a little space in your calendar and settle in. Edition 21 is here, and the Gold Coast has plenty to show off.

WE’RE NOT KITTEN AROUND
Hello Kitty & Friends Cafe has landed at Pacific Fair.
Purr-lease remain calm, Gold Coast –something cat-astrophically cute (and tasty) has arrived at Pacific Fair. The rumours are true – the Hello Kitty & Friends Café is open meow and we can confirm that it’s a whimsical wonderland of pastels, pastries, and purr-sonality. Furr-real.
Dreamt up by owner Suzie Wong and backed by the global cuteness powerhouse that is Sanrio, Hello Kitty & Friends Café is what happens when Japanese kawaii culture collides with our insatiable appetite for carbs and content. Think pastel perfection, rounded
everything, and interiors so cute you’ll purr with delight (yes, even if you’re a dog person). It’s basically what your inner child always wanted your bedroom to look like, but your parents insisted on “neutrals.” Rude.
But let’s not just paws and admire the décor – the meow-nu is equally on point. Expect adorable themed bento boxes, fluffy Japanese pastries, delicate high tea spreads, strawberry sandos that are almost too cute to eat (almost), and fresh salads for those pretending they didn’t just come here to take 47 photos of a sandwich. And yes, the coffee is brewed with as much love and attention as Hello Kitty puts into tying that iconic red bow.
Can’t stay? There’s a takeaway counter for that because Suzie thought of everything, including a gorgeous gift shop in-store so you can stock up on Hello Kitty merch, including special limited edition Gold Coast HK goodies.
It’s no accident that this pastel palace popped up at Pacific Fair. As one of Australia’s premier shopping destinations, it’s the purrfect spot for a concept that blends food, fun,
and photo ops creating a space so cute it makes Barbie’s Dreamhouse look minimalist. According to Suzie, Pac Fair’s family-friendly vibe, tourist pull, and high foot traffic made it the ideal playground for Hello Kitty and her snack-slinging squad.
So, whether you’re a lifelong Sanrio stan or just looking for somewhere new to sip a latte that’s as sweet as it is selfie-worthy, the Hello Kitty and Friends Café delivers on all fronts: food, fun, and full-blown nostalgia. And we’re not kitten around when we say it’s the cutest thing to hit the Gold Coast since, well… probably ever.
See you at Pac Fair – we’ll be the ones in line, ears on, phone out, and pastry in hand.

BIG NEWS IS ROLLING IN AT NOBBY’S
Nobby’s Beach Surf Club joins The Bears Group.
One of the Gold Coast’s most beloved beachfront institutions has officially paddled into a fresh new chapter, with Nobby’s Beach Surf Club joining forces with The Bears Group, the legends behind Burleigh Leagues Club, Burleigh Sports Club, and Burleigh Bears. Translation? Same iconic surf club, now backed by local hospitality heroes.
You heard it here first: a meeting of Gold Coast greats! On one side, Nobby’s SLSC, holding down the coastline since 1954. On the other, The Bears Group, known for rejuvenating those local Burleigh venues we
all know and love. Together the partnership promises renewed strength, sustainability and a future that honours the past while levelling things up a little.
In simple terms, Nobby’s Surf Life Saving Club continues its long-standing mission on the beach, while The Bears Group takes the reins on the supporters club side, bringing refreshed menus, bars, bistros and gaming.
But wait, there’s more! While we won’t spill all the beans just yet, major renovations are coming in 2027, with plans to modernise the venue and upgrade facilities, ensuring Nobby’s Beach Surf Club remains a welcoming, community-first club for decades to come.
Now, onto the all-important matter of food. The refreshed menu keeps those classic surf club comforts while weaving in modern touches. Take, for example, the Stone & Wood battered Lobster Tacos – soft shell tacos loaded with battered lobster, baby gem, and sriracha mayo. They’re generous, indulgent, and an undisputed headliner.
Beyond tacos, the menu is stacked with familiar favourites, crowd-pleasers, and
easygoing plates designed for grazing with a cold beer, crisp wine, or something a little more celebratory from the bar. Next to your classics, they’ve got dishes like grilled Byron Bay Haloumi with truffle honey and roasted dukkah, Vego Power Bowls, Caramelised Pumpkin Pasta Napoletana, and Toasted Olive Oil Crostini with roasted dukkah and whipped hummus
Not a member yet? Here’s why you should be. The new partnership brings bigger rewards, including a multi-venue rewards program, more dining and hospitality experiences, and more ways to earn, enjoy, and feel part of the Nobby’s community. In addition, current members who hold a valid Nobby’s Beach Surf Club membership card will be gifted a FREE five year club membership to The Bears Group.
If it’s been a while since your last visit, here’s your friendly re-introduction: Nobby’s Beach Surf Club is now open seven days a week, trading daily from 10am-10pm. Pop in for live music every Sunday from 2pm-5pm, or get your Friday fix with meat and seafood tray raffles drawn at 6.30pm.
Same beachfront views. Same community heart. A few new tricks up its sleeve. Nobby’s Beach Surf Club is officially back in play, and this time, it’s running with the Bears.

COASTAL DINING AT
PRICKLE YOUR FANCY
Kaktus Bar brings Mexican spice to Southport Sharks.
Northern Gold Coasters get ready to salsa as Southport Sharks is spicing things up with the opening of its new Mexican-inspired bar, Kaktus.
Leading the new fiesta is Cameron Coull, the hospitality wizard behind Southport Shark’s Aviary Rooftop Bar. With 17 years of experience working bars from the Caribbean to Canada, Cameron knows how to serve up fun in a glass.
The moment you step inside, you’re transported to the colourful cantinas of Mexico. Earthy and vibrant tones brighten up the space with real cacti sprinkled throughout to bring
the desert inside. The alfresco setup is ideal for sipping a bespoke agave cocktail while soaking in the Gold Coast sun or watching the fun on the field at Southport Sharks. Retractable shades mean the elements won’t rain on your sombrero, and there’s space for up to 40 partygoers for private fiestas.
But Kaktus isn’t just about looking good, it’s about learning a thing or two while you’re at it. The edgy beverage menu doubles as an educational experience, with insights into tequila, mezcal and other agave spirits.
Ever wondered why a tequila tastes a certain way or how soil affects your sip? The talented bartenders at Kaktus are ready to school you in the best way possible, by pouring you a masterpiece. Become your own mixologist with a build-your-own margarita The creative concoctions are endless as you take the tips and tricks from the bar and choose a combo you love, including authentic ingredients like grasshopper or worm salt for the truly adventurous.
When it comes to soaking up the sips, there’s a Mexican street-eats menu featuring guac and chips, flavourful tacos, grilled corn
and charred meats to share with all your amigos.
And a bonus for those with a large familia: kids are allowed in until 5pm on weekends so even those with tiny tots in tow can join in on the feast. Access to Kaktus couldn’t be smoother, with its own entrance on the Musgrave Avenue facing side (from 9PM, entry is through the main club).
If you are a Southport Sharks member, discounts turn this fiesta into a full-blown carnival. And with accommodation available on site, why not turn a few margaritas into a mini staycation? Check into the comfort of Mantra, sink into plush king or queen bedding, and wake up refreshed and ready for round two!
Inspired by the Mexican culture of coming together over food, drinks and fun, Kaktus is designed to leave you feeling happier than when you walked in.

OCEAN DAY SPA’S ULTIMATE COMEBACK TOUR
Glow with the flow at Surfers’ luxed-up pamper paradise.
If your idea of a visit to Surfers involves zero sand, maximum serenity and an all-round zen-sational experience, Ocean Day Spa has entered the chat. Freshly renovated and now serving modern coastal calm with a serious side of luxe, this award-winning serenity sanctuary is guaranteed to give you resting bliss face.
Tucked inside Mantra on View, a wee twominute wander from Surfers Paradise beach, this long-loved spa has been around for over a decade. But, after a change of ownership in August 2024 and a three-month top-to-toe reno, Ocean Day Spa has majorly levelled up in look and feel.
Inside, it’s giving contemporary coastal indulgence, with soft tones, soothing textures, and that instantly zen feeling that makes you forget what day it is. Think sophisticated, tranquil, and just bougee enough to feel like a treat, without the awkward “am I allowed to touch anything?” energy.
The newly refreshed space was designed for maximum chill and minimal rush, and we love that for us. Reimagined under new owner Lara
Kocjancic, this chick knows a thing or two about relaxation, having spent five years as Director of Relaxation Corporation at Sea World Resort (résumé flex). Her vision? A refined, unhurried haven where guests are encouraged to slow down before, during, and after their treatments.
Inside, you’ll find three couples’ rooms, a peaceful relaxation space, a sauna, showers, and single treatment rooms – all designed to encourage lingering, not rushing back to reality.
The treatment menu is stacked, with 11 massage and pamper-based packages. This includes two options for mums-to-be, and a Gentleman’s Retreat for the fellas who roll their eyes when the missus sashays off to the spa – but secretly want to come with. Treatments are delivered by the ultimate steam team; highly sought after therapists at the top of their game who know precisely how to hit the spot (literally).
Of all the packages, we simply must shoutout A Day at The Beach. Clocking in at a glorious five hours. It includes an infrared detox sauna session, warm floral foot soak, luxury soy candle
relaxation massage, hot stone back massage, organic coconut and argan oil head massage with hot towel infusion, skin smoothing body polish, and a hydrating or detox body mask.
Cheese platters are included with all packages and there are body masks and scrubs featuring chocolate, vanilla/honey, and grape, plus massage oils infused with gold or chocolate – because why wouldn’t you want to leave glowing like a human Ferrero Rocher?
You can mix and match treatments as long as the total time hits 60 minutes, meaning your spa day can be as customised as your coffee order. As for reasons to visit, the list is endless. Pre-lunch group catch ups with the girlies, dates to ignite some serious calm-istry, birthdays, hens parties, baby showers, or simply “thank god I survived the week” visits are all perfectly good reasons to book.
For the glow-getters, Ocean Day Spa offers four fabulous facial treatments (plus waxing). Each focus on a different skin concern from anti-ageing, hydration, and sensitive skin to brightening or acne and blemishes #DewNotDisturb. They use (and sell) the highend stuff too; luxury European skincare products from Afrodita Cosmetics.
So if your nervous system is fried, your calendar is chaotic, or you’re simply overdue for some spa-rkle in your life, this is your sign. Ocean Day Spa is back – and Lara understood the assignment. The result? A unanimous A+ for premium pampering, serene ahhh-mbience, and a coastal chic glow-up so on-point, you’ll be back on the reg.

MAMMA MIA GELATERIA
Al Bacio Gelato Naturale churns out traditional Italian gelato in Burleigh.
Do you remember your first lick of gelato? That sweet, creamy moment when the world just melted away? Well, get ready to relive it because Al Bacio Gelato Naturale is scooping up the Gold Coast’s freshest take on authentic Italian gelato.
Husband and wife Craig and Rebecca Heininger, with their daughter Jaime, are the dream team behind this family-run gelateria that’s making waves just a short stroll from Burleigh beach. With Italian roots in their family tree, they’ve certainly mastered the art of la dolce vita – the sweet life – one churn at a time.
Before scooping for success, Craig was a water engineer and Rebecca worked in the health industry with a flair for design. Jaime, meanwhile, has been obsessed with gelato since her first lick when she was 13 (can relate!) and has been working in gelato since her teens.
Earlier this year, the Heiningers took their gelato obsession global, heading to Tuscany to train at an artisan gelato academy. There, they learned to transform simple ingredients into something magic. No artificial colours, no premade pastes, just fresh fruit, creamy Jersey and full cream milk and a whole lot of love. After graduating, they embarked on a gelato tour across Italy. From Sicily to Milan they tasted their way through award-winning gelaterias, picking up inspiration along the way.
Now they’re pouring their passion into Al Bacio Gelato Naturale in Burleigh. Designed in collaboration with the team at Pennybridge Creative and the fit-out pros at Zero 9, the space blends modern design with old-school Italian charm.
Think terrazzo tiles, lush green tones and a welcoming open layout that lets you peek
into the gelato lab. Yes, you can literally watch gelato being made before your eyes.
Behind the counter, a sleek under-bench Pozzetti cabinet keeps each flavour at its optimal temperature. Outside, a cute alfresco nook invites you to linger with a cone and watch the world melt by.
And the flavours? Bellissimo, of course, with each scoop having its own story.
The signature Al Bacio, meaning “as good as a kiss” in Italian, is a rich chocolate hazelnut scoop made with homemade paste using hazelnuts from Piemonte, Italy. It’s a true tribute to Rebecca’s father who grew up in the region.
The rotating seasonal menu features creations like Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin spice and olive oil with jalapeño (yes, it works and its spicy nice). With changing flavours, it’s the ideal excuse for regular return visits.
If you like to gulp down your gelato, you can order your favourite flavour in thick shake form. And that’s not all! Gelato protein sticks, slices, tubs and cakes are also available for when you want to take the sweetness home.
Located in laid-back Burleigh near Commune cafe, it’s a dream spot for their dream to take shape. At Al Bacio Gelato Naturale, life really is sweeter by the scoop.

Southport’s hottest venue for those who like their events served well done.
We all know Fire Baby delivers a flameforward modern Australian menu built on smoke, char and top-tier local produce, but here’s something you might not know. This Southport hotspot also moonlights as one of the Gold Coast’s most VIP-coded function destinations. From weddings and engagements to birthdays, brand launches and work do’s that skip the awkies small talk, Fire Baby has mastered the art of making every event feel iconic.
With its glowing fires, moody colour palette, and serious ‘cool restaurant in a Netflix series’ energy, Fire Baby looks like it was born to host
a crowd. And spoiler alert – it was. From the moment your guests walk in, they immediately clock that they’re not at some naff function room with sad platters, playing spot the waiter to get a drink. They’re at the Pegasus of venues that future them will be talking about long after the last cocktail is shaken.
Fire Baby has multiple spaces to play with, which means it can go from polished private dining to high-energy cocktail party and anything in between without breaking a sweat. Starting off at Level One, this is where the party people will feel most at home. It’s a vibrant, high-energy space made for events that don’t involve chair covers or cringey slow dances. With room for up to 200 guests, it’s giving “let’s invite everyone we’ve ever met”. The open-plan layout keeps the vibes flowing, the drinks coming, and the mingling effortless.
For something a little more power-lunchmeets-private-soirée, the Buchanan Room is Fire Baby’s private dining and meeting space. Designed for up to ten guests, it’s where deals get done, secrets are spilled, and birthdays are celebrated in quiet luxury. Whether it’s an
executive dinner, a client meeting (perfectly set up for presentations) or a fancy-pants intimate gathering, the Buchanan Room proves that business and pleasure can, in fact, share a table.
Over in Ember Bar and Grill, they’ve dialled up the sophistication to a smooth, smokin’ 10 outta 10. With seating for up to 70, this warm, refined space is perfect for entertaining that calls for a more formal feel without tipping into stuffy territory. Expect elevated dishes straight from the grill, a warm, polished atmosphere, and that signature Fire Baby flair. Chef’s kiss!
Or, if you want the kind of event that has people posting, tagging, and sharing for weeks on end, why not go full Mindy Weiss with Fire Baby’s total venue hire. This option hands you – and only you – the keys to Fire Baby in its entirety so you can sip, feast, and celebrate without a single gatecrasher in sight. We’re talking exclusive access to all spaces, letting you design an event that flows from cocktails upstairs to dinner by the grill and back again.
What really sets Fire Baby apart is that everything can be tailored to suit your vision with bespoke catering packages, flexible layouts, branded styling and tailored menus. Cookie cutter function? Never heard of her.
And finally, if you’re the big cheese in the office looking for the ultimate peoplepleasing team-building experience (yes, even Karen from accounts), you knead to check out Fire Baby’s Pizza Masterclass. Hosted by Fire Baby’s Head Pizzaiolo, it’s perfect for boosting connections, staff morale and client shmoozing. You’ll be rolling dough, topping and taste-testing your way to bonding glory. So if you’re planning any sort of function or celebration, Fire Baby is ready to turn up the heat and leave everyone raving long after the last ember dies.

SASSY, CLASSY AND MULTI-LEVEL FANCY
Every hour is golden hour at Hotel Jardin.
If the Gold Coast were handing out “glowup of the year” awards, we’d be sliding one straight over to Chevron Renaissance and their all-new multi-level dining and entertainment hub, Hotel Jardin. Gold Coast may be one sleek development after another these days, but dare we say, Hotel Jardin is raising the bar. It’s very chic. It’s very Gold Coast. Let’s get into it.
Hotel Jardin is ushering Chevron Renaissance into its new GLAM era. Why launch one single-level, single-vibe venue when you can launch an entire vertical ecosystem of decadent food, live music and elevated fun?
Yep, Hotel Jardin is not one, not two, but three levels of moody bars, luxe dining and late-night fancy (plus a rooftop arriving in 2026).
Opening its first stage, Hotel Jardin unveiled the ground floor Lobby Bar, Level 1 Piano Bar and the star of its culinary show: SABA Kitchen, a lush, pan-Asian dining room headed by the wildly talented Executive Chef Minh Le. If the name rings a bell, he’s a bit of a local (and global) legend.
At SABA Kitchen, a curated, playful and spice-driven menu features everything from robata-grilled skewers to sashimi kissed with yuzu and game-farm duck glazed with honey Basically, if you’re not weak at the knees yet, just wait until the aromas hit the table. All housed within a sleek, modern dining room, it’s luxe dining without the fuss and the perfect warm-up to whatever the night has planned next. Perhaps, a dirty martini at the Piano Bar?
One floor up, the Piano Bar blends live music and elevated cocktails. It’s where velvet, mood lighting and a baby grand piano fuse for a most sleek affair. Where sunset rolls
into late hours way too easily and one expertly crafted cocktail is never enough. Whether you’re into jazzy twists, big sing-alongs or a cheeky late-night bop, the Piano Bar is here to soundtrack it all.
But the story doesn’t stop there. Oh no. Stage two arrives in 2026, bringing with it one very “add to group chat immediately” announcement: a rooftop. Picture highball cocktails, cascading greenery, balmy breezes and starlit revelry. It’s giving elevated – literally and metaphorically.
Set within Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre in Surfers Paradise, Hotel Jardin is designed to move effortlessly from intimate piano sessions to private celebrations and even large-scale events. Whether you’re dropping in for sashimi and cocktails, belting out a ballad above a baby grand or planning a soirée with a little extra sparkle, this is about to become Surfers Paradise’s go-to destination for dining, drinks and live entertainment.
Since Hotel Jardin opened its first stage to the public in November – it’s been the place to be from the moment the doors swung open. Because if anyone knows how to make an entrance… it’s Hotel Jardin. And something tells us that when the rooftop opens, they’ll be taking the Gold Coast’s nightlife to new heights.

SPICE-FUELLED FEASTS
SABA Kitchen serves bold pan-Asian flavours inside Hotel Jardin.
Champagne sips and oyster slurps that roll into a full pan-Asian feast?! You had us at champagne. SABA Kitchen in Hotel Jardin is our latest obsession, and it’s about to be yours, too. Think fresh local ingredients coming together to create exotic flavour bombs, better known as seriously addictive share plates. We’re drooling already…
Tucked inside the sleek, modern $10-million multi-level entertainment and dining venue Hotel Jardin, SABA Kitchen is not a quick pit stop kind of venue- it’s a settle-in and loosen your belt situation. They serve lush, pan-Asian
dishes designed to be shared and paired with carefully curated cocktails. The atmosphere is alluring, and the menu, led by Executive Chef Minh Le, is spice-driven, bold, and blends fresh local ingredients with inspired flavours from across Asia.
The offering is designed to suit all appetites and occasions, with snacks, small plates, large plates, sides and generous five or seven-plate banquets for those who want the full SABA experience. Whether it’s a cocktail-and-caviarat-golden-hour type of day or a going-all-in occasion, the menu encourages exploration, as all good menus should.
The flavour journey kicks off strong with raw and lightly cured dishes that feel fresh, bright and impeccably balanced. Think caviar bumps and Sydney rock oysters before things turn up a notch with sashimi kissed with yuzu and heirloom tomatoes with stracciatella, basil oil, and champagne vinaigrette. From there, things turn smoky and seductive thanks to the Robata grill, with skewers charred to perfection and packed with flavour.
Standout plates include the Hervey Bay scallops, served on the half shell with yuzu, garlic butter and brioche crumbs; the robata-
grilled skewers; and the Mooloolaba prawns, served with xo coconut sauce, coriander oil, tobiko and lemon meringue
Then there’s the duck, which deserves its own paragraph. The game-farm duck breast is 10-day dry-aged, glazed with honey and paired with sweet potato and lotus crisp. It’s sticky, savoury, slightly sweet (aka, on point). And, while everything at SABA is best shared, this one may need to be an exception... it’s just too good!
The interiors mirror the menu’s mood –sleek, modern and layered with a warmth that instantly draws you in. Intentional or not, SABA Kitchen strikes a perfect balance across the board: in its dishes, atmosphere, and design. Intimate yet energetic, it feels polished without ever tipping into pretentious.
This is a space made for connection and celebration, where long lunches blur into afternoon drinks and dinner dates linger. Where you lose track of time.
Open daily from 11:30am into the late evening, SABA Kitchen fits seamlessly into the Surfers Paradise dining scene while offering something distinct. It’s the kind of restaurant you recommend confidently to out-oftowners, to foodie friends, or to yourself on a Wednesday when cooking is off the table. Come hungry, order generously. Get your SABA on.

CHEEKII: REBRANDED AND REFINED
Coastal Cosmetic Clinic has a new name and postcode.
If there’s one thing the Gold Coast knows how to do, it’s a glow-up - and cosmetic clinic Cheekii has just taken that concept and injected it with more it-girl energy than you can poke a needle at. Formerly known as Coastal Cosmetic Clinic, this cult-favourite aesthetic clinic has recently hard launched a catchy new name, a sleek, breezy new water front location, and a vibe that’s equal parts polished, playful and effortlessly cool.
The name change alone is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Cheekii is memorable, modern and, well, a little bit cheeky which is exactly
the energy founder Brittany and her team bring to the world of aesthetics. It’s less stiff medical clinic, more relaxed-chic aesthetic clinic with the same magnetic pull as a killer lipliner.
After saying farewell to their Bundall digs, Cheekii has now popped up in beautiful Clear Island Waters in a serene, design-forward space. Enter via a chic deck and you’re instantly transported into a Pinterest board; calm, inviting, and ultra-aesthetic. A sanctuary that feels more like a trendy boutique than an aesthetic clinic.
Think moody terracotta, burgundy, mocha and blush tones, floor-to-ceiling gridded windows overlooking the water and an arch wall. Add copper pendant lights glowing softly overhead and creamy wall sconces and you’ve got yourself a space that’s as photogenic as the faces walking out of it.
And while the look has changed, the heart of Cheekii is still very much Brittany and her powerhouse team. We live in an era where A LOT of us ‘needle’ little pick-me-ups and indulge in a tweakment from time to time. Not to keep up with the Jones’ but because it makes us feel like the best version of ourselves. That’s
Brittany and her team – your secret weapon in nailing that natural, fresh as a daisy, ‘I haven’t had anything done’ look.
That philosophy is what truly sets Cheekii apart. This is not a one-size-fits-all, freezeeverything kind of clinic. Brittany and her fellow Cosmetic Nurse Caitlin actually listen. They dive into fun conversations about your aesthetic dreams and what you’re hoping to achieve, so they can create a look that’s totally you. And the best part? They keep it real! If a treatment isn’t right for you, they’ll give you the honest scoop rather than just nodding along. It’s all about finding that perfect balance between stunning and natural! And with more than 320 glowing five-star Google reviews (and counting), it’s clear this approach is working. And they’re downright cool, fun, and down-to-earth – the kind of chicks who make you wonder if the real lift came from the treatment or the banter.
Whether you’re dealing with volume loss, fine lines, dehydration, pigmentation or just want a little glow-boosting magic, Cheekii offers the full kit-and-kaboodle. From LED light therapy and radio frequency micro-needling to aesthetic treatments and the cult-fave bio skin healer Rejuran®, they’re basically running a full-service glow lab.
The rebrand isn’t just a name swap, it’s a statement. It’s Brittany and her protégés stepping into a new chapter that reflects how they’ve evolved and become a levelled-up version of their already incredible selves; absolute ballers in their field with warmth, personality and trustworthiness for days. New name, new space, same iconic results. Cheekii has had the ultimate rebrand moment and honestly, it looks flawless. So let’s get Cheekii.

BOULEVARD OF CREATIVITY
Step inside Oneway Boulevard, Burleigh’s bold new creative studio.
The Gold Coast doesn’t just attract creators, it’s in our nature. With sunsoaked beaches and lush hinterland as our backdrop, creativity is around every corner.
But when the skies turn moody and the forecast goes off-script, every creator needs a dependable studio where the shoot can go on, rain, cyclone or shine. Oneway Boulevard Studio is a brand spanking new 325-squaremetre creative playground in Burleigh Heads where bold ideas are brought to life.
Behind the vision is founder Brendon Bock, a multi-faceted creative with over 15 years experience spanning photography,
videography, digital arts, web development and production. Known for his work across music and arts industries, Brendon has spent years building an East Coast network of photographers, editors, drone pilots, designers and collaborators who know how to get the shot and sprinkle it with magic.
The dream of opening his own studio was sparked while Brendon travelled down a hedge-lined boulevard, bringing into focus his desire for a dedicated space that doesn’t just produce content, it builds community.
Every corner of Oneway Boulevard feels purpose-built, from hair and makeup suites and a fully decked-out kitchen to interactive content walls and collaborative zones that invite spontaneous creativity. There’s a photo op on every floor, wall and ceiling (including in the bathroom!) with artwork and quotes to inspire.
A first-floor viewing platform offers a unique bird’s eye view of your work-in-progress. A quick portrait shoot can turn into a full-blown campaign, and nobody has to scramble for
lighting, tech, backdrops or props because it’s all under the one roof.
And if they don’t have it, they’ll build it. Just next door is Brendon’s other business, Element Shopfitting and Construction, which can custom-build whatever you need to take your shoot to the next level.
It’s a studio that understands that the best work happens when creators have the space to create. That’s why it’s designed with the largest cyclorama on the Gold Coast (an expansive 9 x 8.3 metres of seamless white) for productions that like to think big! And if you are a BIG brand, you can even access multiple shooting spaces.
The studio caters to photographers, filmmakers, podcasters, brands, artists and content creators. Whether you’re capturing a polished brand campaign, filming audition tapes, food vlogs or creating social content at speed, Oneway Boulevard offers a streamlined experience with professional photography equipment included in the studio hire and production support ready to step in or step back as needed.
The team welcomes emerging talent and seasoned pros alike, encouraging imagination and creativity every step of the way.
Beyond studio hire, Oneway Boulevard offers end-to-end campaign production, behindthe-scenes documentation, post-production services, creative direction and even venue hire for product launches. Still evolving, the studio is a true blank canvas, ready to meet your vision wherever it’s at.

FLAME FABULOUS
Clifford’s Grill & Lounge is serving up fire, flavour and a whole lotta flair.
There’s something primal about the allure of fire. Maybe it’s the caveman (or woman) in all of us. Maybe it’s the smouldering scent that transforms simple ingredients into a smoky seduction. Whatever it is, Clifford’s Grill & Lounge at voco Gold Coast has mastered the art of turning flame into flavour – and they’ve done it with the kind of effortless sophistication that could make Gordon Ramsay crack a smile. Since flicking on the grill back in 2014, Clifford’s has quietly become one of Surfers Paradise’s most deliciously underrated gems. This 90-seat restaurant manages to pull off the impossible: refined and on-trend without trying oh-so-hard. It’s where locals go for a long dinner (tried and tested –tick), tourists stumble upon after quizzing randoms on the street; “where should we go for dinner?”, and literally everyone leaves wondering why it took them this long to find it.
Let’s start off by celebrating the perfectly designed interiors, which hit that sweet spot between contemporary and comfortable. Think polished timber, warm lighting, and just enough luxe to make you feel a little
fancy without having to Google which fork to use first.
Now, on to the heart (and heat) of it all is Chef Daniel, who’s turned the opengrill kitchen into a stage worthy of its own spotlight. The menu is modern Australian with a coastal twist, which basically means fressssh local ingredients sans the smoke and mirrors – traded up for smoke and sirloin. Every dish that hits the table is kissed by flame, from perfectly charred steaks to seafood that tastes like it was plucked straight from the Pacific, cooked to picture perfect status and placed lovingly on your plate.
For example, tuck into the Black Angus Eye Fillet (200gm), A La Plancha, with thyme and garlic butter, truffle mash, roasted field mushroom, broccolini, kale and house jus. Or the Lobster Linguini – Qld tropical lobster tail in white wine and lemon emulsion, cherry tomatoes, mild chilli, garlic and olive oil
Do we need to go on? We will anyway coz have a go of the signature sharing Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder – started yesterday, pulled apart today, Salsa Verde,
lamb jus, sea salt and lemon. And just because you can, why not finish with Bombe Alaska Croquant macadamia, salted caramel and vanilla bean ice cream and scorched meringue. Your sweet tooth will thank you. Your dentist…perhaps not so much, but priorities.
And finally, what does this crowd-fave have to offer for thirsty punters? In short –a lot. Let’s unpack the signature cocktails (equal parts art and attitude), like the refreshing Pineapple Express with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Licor 43, Pineapple Juice and Cinnamon. And the wine list? Let’s just say it’s a 10/10 – extensive and packed with drops for every palate.
Location-wise, the Clifford’s clan couldn’t have picked a better perch. Right in the heart of Surfers Paradise, it captures the energy of the Coast while offering a cool, calm escape from the chaos outside. It’s the perfect meeting point for hotel guests, locals and anyone who appreciates good food served with good vibes. And better yet, you can always float upstairs to your voco room and call it a night. Dinner, drinks, a staycation and srsly – don’t threaten us with a good time.
So, whether you’re toasting to something special, hunting down your next date-night destination or simply following the irresistible scent of perfectly grilled meat, Clifford’s is calling. Follow the smoke signals, grab a glass and settle in because when the flames start flying at Clifford’s Grill & Lounge, the Gold Coast dining scene gets seriously lit.

CIAO DOWN TO NICO.
Nico. deli & shop brings
Italian culture
to Kirra.
Delis have long been the heart of Italian neighbourhoods.
From early morning, locals drift in for a quick espresso at the bar, pick up a few essentials, exchanging greetings that feel more like family catch-ups than transactions.
Lucky for us, Nico. deli & shop now recreates the traditional deli in Kirra, offering a slice of Italian culture just a stone’s throw from the sand.
Behind it all is Aaron Nicholls, who brings 30 years of architecture and design experience to the counter along with early-career hospitality work on the floor, giving him a keen
eye for detail, from the furnishings to the food.
When it came to creating his own space, Aaron wanted more than aesthetics, he wanted to capture the soul of the Italian deli.
“The thing that strikes me the most about Italian culture is the celebration of food –the growing, preparation, presentation and consumption of it,” Aaron said.
“For me, it’s the ultimate display of gratitude: to make, give, share, and celebrate food. I want our patrons to feel like they’ve stepped into something truly special every time they visit.”
The concept almost landed in Woolgoolga on the NSW North Coast, sparked by local concern over big supermarkets squeezing out small vendors. But as the business plan tightened, a bigger question emerged for Aaron. Surely there were other coastal communities crying out for the same thing?
Formerly a vape and tobacco shop (and before that, a display suite), the Nico. deli & shop sits on a prime corner at Kirra Village, a stone’s throw from the beach.
Designed by Aaron alongside Phillip Nielsen of Regional Design Service, the fitout
leans into a mid-century vibes with terrazzo floors and a feature counter that doubles as a stage for coffee and conversation.
Outdoor seating catches the Cooly breeze, while the indoor espresso bench and a handful of stools keep things cosy.
Pouring Coffee Supreme brews and serving a menu that champions local artisans, Nico. deli & shop is all about keeping it fresh.
Burleigh Baker supplies the focaccia, That’s Amore delivers silky stracciatella, and Puopolo Artisan Salumi brings nitrite-free mortadella, all coming together in the deli’s signature panini, topped with honey and pistachios
For something sweet, cannoli are served in three varieties topped with crushed pistachios, chocolate chips, and a delicate dusting of icing sugar. It’s a little bite of Sicily right here on the coast.
Gourmet goodies from Delicato Foods and family-run Euro Foods Qld add another layer of yum with pasta, cheese, and antipasti you can take away and devour at home.
For a refreshing sip, fridges are stocked with Italian-style sodas from FABIO, sparkling nonalcoholic spritzers from ETCH Sparkling, and a full range of CAPI sodas to suit every taste. If a Euro trip is on your 2026 vision board, consider Nico. deli & shop your local source of inspiration.

ORO YOU READY FOR A TASTE OF ITALY?
Sogno Italiano’s empire expands to Broadbeach with Oro.
They say good things come in threes, and this gleaming new venue in the Sogno Italiano story confirms it.
Owned by cousins Sushil and Prajwol Maharjan, Oro is the result of a 14-year culinary courtship with Italian cuisine. The duo, originally from Nepal, cut their teeth in kitchens around the world, managing restaurants, running services and quietly perfecting their craft. They opened their first Sogno Italiano in Mermaid Waters in 2021, followed by Burleigh Waters in 2023. And now Oro? Oro is their golden child.
Sitting pretty on Surf Parade in Broadbeach, Oro by Sogno is light and bright inside and out, with lush greenery all around and timber accents on the floors and ceiling. There’s also a moody private room for 24 to 45 guests, designed for long lunches that may accidentally turn into all-nighters.
The Oro menu has been leveled up from the homely dishes offered in Mermaid and Burleigh, with Italian classics given a contemporary twist thanks to the exciting young talent in the kitchen. On one side is Federica Savinelli, a chef from Italy with pasta in her blood. She hand-makes pasta daily, rolling tradition with a modern spin. On the other side is Ranjan Bohara, a Gold Coast local industry gun with nine years of experience and an impressive resume that includes Glass Dining & Lounge Bar. He commands the grill, turning hand-picked steaks and seafood into flame-kissed feasts.
Start with antipasto dishes like a local Byron Bay Burrata, served with heirloom tomatoes, basil, toasted pistachio, olive oil and balsamic It’s simple, elegant and dressed to impress.
Pair that with Affettati Misti of 24 months parma prosciutto, mortadella and wagyu bresola served with homemade fresh bread, grilled zucchini, Cornichons and capsicum.
Seafood lovers, take a deep breath. The Seafood Platter arrives stacked with oysters, king prawns, bugs, scallops, lobster, barramundi and octopus, served with chips, lemon and salmoriglio sauce. It’s a nod to both Italian long lunches and the Broadbeach setting.
When it comes to mains, a standout dish Sogno fans can’t get enough of is the Spaghetti with Moreton Bay Bugs. Pasta is lovingly coated in cherry tomatoes, white wine, chilli and lush lobster bisque, all served in a bug shell.
For something heartier, the Mafaldine Ragu alla Genovese, features oxtail and beef ribs slow-cooked for 12 hours until they surrender completely. It’s comfort food you’ve been craving.
Make sure you leave room for Tiramisu, or if you like dessert in liquid form, the Watermelon Smash or Oro Espresso Martini will go down a treat.
There’s also a large wine selection and Sogno have even created their own beer for their new venue – the Oro Lager.
For Sushil and Prajwol, Oro is their heartfelt thank you to “the Italian chefs who guided us, to the culture that embraced us and to every guest who chooses to dine with us.”

TRIGGER WARNING: LOCKED, LOADED AND LOVING IT
Shoot your shot at the Gold Coast Indoor Shooting Centre.
Has your girl gang maxed out on bottomless brunches and happy hours this holiday season? We feel you. If your crew is craving something new and just a little bit badass… the Gold Coast Indoor Shooting Centre hits right on target.
Tucked away behind Taco Bell in Southport, this indoor shooting gallery is all about entertainment. Operating since 1996 (with a shiny new refit to match), there’s no firearms licence required, just bring the kind of confidence you’d expect from Charlie’s Angels. What makes this place a total hit (pun fully
intended) is how tailored the experience is. Want to channel your inner Lara Croft? Compete with your bestie for bragging rights? Or try something wildly outside your comfort zone? The expert Range Officers guide you through every step, making sure you feel confident, capable and most importantly, safe.
Safety here isn’t just a side note, it’s taken very seriously. Every session starts with comprehensive training, plus professional eye and hearing protection. Firearms are secured with specialised tethers so they can only be aimed downrange, and there’s a strict zeroalcohol policy. Think less Wild West, more well-oiled (and very well-supervised) machine.
Fashion-wise, this is an outing where casual is encouraged, so you can leave the heels at home! Enclosed shoes are a must, and fullcoverage tops are recommended as those hot casings don’t care how cute your outfit is.
If you’re new to shooting and not sure where to start, the themed packages make it easy and far less intimidating. The Princess Diva, Kitty Kombo, and Barbie’s Havoc pair very different firearms for a perfectly balanced first-time experience.
A crowd favourite is the Glock pistol in the Princess Diva package. Yes, it’s metallic pink, and it’s exactly as iconic as it sounds. The package is often the first pick for beginners, offering a fun and approachable way to ease into shooting.
Another favourite is the Kitty Kombo package with the Hello Kitty Glock 19, a compact 9mm pistol that’s comfortable to hold and great for learning the basics with a bang. You’ll fire 20 rounds, giving you plenty of time to find your rhythm without feeling overwhelmed. The package also includes 30 rounds with the Hera Arms Carbine, a rifle-style firearm that looks serious but is surprisingly steady and easy to control. This is where friendly competition tends to heat up.
Craving more kick? Answer the call of Barbie’s Havoc, starting with the pink Ruger Charger, leveling up to the pink Stoeger 9mm pistol, and ending with the unstoppable pink 12-gauge shotgun.
Every step is explained by experienced Range Officers, so even if you’ve never touched a firearm before, you’ll know exactly what to do, where to aim, and how it should feel.
Open seven days a week and welcoming shooters aged 11 and up, this adrenalinepacked outing comes fully loaded. Bookings are recommended

COME FOR THE VIEW, STAY FOR THE FOOD
Soul Boardwalk wins over locals and visitors alike.
When you’re in Surfers Paradise and hunger strikes you want food that’s easy, vibey and good enough that you’d happily repeat tomorrow. Enter: Soul Boardwalk – beachside, breezy and doing the absolute most in the best way.
Right opposite the beach at the top of Cavill Mall, Soul Boardwalk isn’t just for visitors. Locals are regulars too, and that’s always the greenest of green flags. No overthinking, no bookings panic, just roll in, pick a mood and eat accordingly.
Mornings start strong. Locals fuel up at ESPL Coffee, grab a takeaway and do a bit of prime people-watching while the beach
wakes up (elite cardio-free entertainment). If you’re more of a “sit, sip, stay” brekkie person, Surfers Paradise Beach Café delivers all the classics with friendly faces and ocean views that may convince you to cancel the rest of your plans and stay put. Long breakfasts accidentally turning into lunch? Very on brand here.
By lunchtime, Soul Boardwalk hums. Alma is the go-to for shared plates and “we’ll just get one more” energy, while Vapiano keeps things cruisy with fresh pasta and pizza made to order (yes, we’re watching it being made and yes, we love that). After a big beach morning, Fishbowl hits just right with fresh, Japanese-inspired bowls that feel light, clean and smugly healthy.
One of the newer kids on the boardwalk that locals are genuinely hyped about is Woodfired Mediterranean Grill and Café. Brought to life by Gold Coast restaurateur Arthur De Snoo, it blends Greek, Italian and Moroccan flavours without any fuss or fluff. The woodfired pizzas are the main character, light, flavour-packed and made with house-made dough and fresh daily sauce. Add freshly baked breads, Moroccan pitas and a surprisingly solid whisky list and… yeah, it’s already a regular.
As the afternoon rolls into evening, Soul Boardwalk becomes the meet-up spot. Seascape Restaurant and Bar is where you go when you want to impress. Seafood, cocktails and ocean views doing the heavy lifting. The newly reopened Hurricane’s Grill and Bar is back and better, with a glow-up, extra alfresco seating and those iconic flame-grilled ribs and steaks. Same fave, just hotter.
For easy, no-frills feeds, Brazilian Flame Bar and Grill brings the drama with meats carved at your table (yes please), while Hog’s Breath Café is a comfy classic for burgers and steaks And when life is moving fast (or you just need a snack, stat), KFC and Subway are right there doing what they do best.
Dessert is where the pace slows and decisions get sweeter. Yo-Chi and Minus 18 Degrees are both firm favourites, especially on warm nights when everyone’s out strolling, chatting and pretending they don’t want dessert (lies).
What we really love about Soul Boardwalk is how easily food turns into an entire afternoon. Ripley’s Believe It or Not is a fun wildcard, especially with kids in tow, while Build-A-Bear Workshop somehow always becomes a holiday highlight. If browsing is more your thing, Foot Locker and Quiksilver are right nearby and fit the beachside brief perfectly.
For visitors, that local stamp of approval matters and Soul Boardwalk has it in spades. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee, lingering over lunch or settling in for dinner after a long beach day, it’s welcoming, familiar and effortlessly fun. The kind of place you pop into once… then somehow return to every time you find yourself in Surfers.
