BMM: Can you introduce yourself and share with our readers who you are and how you found your way into being the successful businesswoman that you are?

LORI: I grew up in a very creative, hard-working, ‘go-get -em” kind of family. That ethic has been with me all my life. My first “job” was making barrettes for Christmas bazaars when I was in first grade. A few years later, I left

school early one afternoon and got dressed up to make my first bank presentation where the room full of bankers granted me my first loan at age 11 (my mother cosigned with me on $3,500) to start a hotdog stand. It was also during my younger years where I learned the power of using media to increase awareness and sales. These early experiences have given me a strong foundation and solid business lessons that I have carried with me throughout my life.

WWW.BUSINESSANDMARKETINGMAGAZINE.COM 11

BMM: What inspired you in your career choice?

LORI: So many valuable lessons were learned during “my hotdog days.” It showed me that I could accomplish anything I set my sights on. I seem to always be reaching for something bigger than myself and entrepreneurship has been the thread woven into the fabric of my life and all I do. I have always been a creative problem solver, having my own business at a very early age gave the opportunities needed to really focus on how all the pieces fit together and why certain strategies are more important than others. In my adult life, I spent many years in both education and business, while simultaneously as a consultant, politician, community advocate, and volunteer. Serving people and solving problems have always been a huge part of what drives me.

BMM: What was your first objective when you founded your business?

LORI: To help people become better so they can achieve their goals. It definitely sounds cliché, however authenticity has been one of those constant elements in my life. Teaching, coaching, motivating (going back to my years as a varsity cheer captain), have been strong skills within me since I was young. I love helping others see the potential in themselves and witnessing the transformation that takes place when new knowledge and skills are implemented that lead to stronger results.

BMM: Was it tough for you to get started?

LORI: In some ways yes. In some ways, no. Being a retired Business professor definitely gave me a leg up when developing a new business and programs as a coach and consultant. I already had the knowledge and skills needed. The biggest gap I had to fill was understanding how to implement in a fastchanging world of technology and which platforms would best support my business growth and the needs of my clients in this new “space” outside the brick-and-mortar walls of a traditional classroom. Even though I taught all of the business skills and strategies needed to start my business, the technology needed, was something I had to learn very quicky in order to be successful. The technology needed in a traditional classroom setting is very different.

where you are, developing a thorough understanding where you want to be, and developing and implementing a plan to help you achieve that success. The entire process is customized. We do not believe that “one size fits all.”

BMM: Can you tell our readers a little bit about your book “Media Secrets Revealed”?

LORI: Absolutely! First, I wrote the book to help others achieve the same results I have achieved. After doing this over and over, I saw what worked and mastered the process. I am featured in media over 500 times per year and have been achieving this for many years. My book contains my Five STAR Strategy Process that I have used consistently for years with 100% pitch acceptance rate. Nobody else in the world hold this honor. What I have developed works! The second reason I wrote the book is to create possibilities for those who want to gain media attention but feel like they can’t. It is not inherently hard, in fact it’s simple, but it does require intentional, directed, work with specific strategies.

BMM: As a Business Coach and consultant, what advice can you give to those who are just starting their business? What’s the best way to build a strong foundation and be successful?

LORI: Start with what you have and act every single day that will move you closer to your goals. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by what needs to be done. By simply taking the time to devise a plan and then following that plan you will get results. Pay attention to the trap of “being busy.” Make sure that your actions are moving you closer to your goals and not just keeping you busy.

Most entrepreneurs are not taking the time to build the strong foundation needed for long-term success. They are making all kinds of decisions in many directions that are not aligned with the right messaging, the right strategies, or their ideal client. Don’t be fooled by perceived success. Don’t compare yourself to others. Stay focused. A confused mind never buys. If you are not clear in who you are, what problem you solve, and the results you get, your ideal client will not trust you. Consistency is the key to getting people to buy from you. People align with those they like, know, and trust.

BMM: How can someone use the media to impact their business, and why is it so important?

BMM: Can you briefly explain how your company helps others develop a successful growth strategy?

LORI: My company focuses on strategic positioning, marketing, branding, and of course growth. We accomplish this through a variety of means, starting with a assessment of

LORI: Media can be used in so many ways to build your business. Understanding how media works is so vital to the success of your business. Understanding and implementing the right media strategies that support your overall brand

much faster.

One challenge is when people do not understand the importance of using media or the strategies needed. A media plan is not something that you do when you have extra time and money, it is something that is created and implemented very strategically as an integral part of your overall business plan. Your Media Plan, your Branding, and your Business Plan are not three separate elements. The key is that they must be one cohesive plan. The sooner you do this, the stronger the foundation your business will have, which leads to growth and success.

BMM: Re-branding seems to be a popular strategy for struggling businesses these days. What are your thoughts on it? Do you have any recommendations for businesses that need help rebuilding or modernizing their brand?

LORI: Building a brand is more than just having a logo. It is understanding the power of Brand Essence and how to maximize the uniqueness of it. We all have unique tools in our toolbox. We use those unique tools in business and in life every single day. Nobody can be you no matter how hard they try to copy you. The world is waiting for you to show up in a way that only you can. You were created to be exactly who you are; the world doesn’t need a copycat. Don’t worry about anyone copying you or you trying to compete with anyone. The only person you should be in competition with, is the person you were yesterday.

Understanding this is essential. If what you want to be known for is not clearly displayed across your branding, then yes rebranding is a strong consideration.

BMM: What is the difference between Branding and Marketing?

LORI: Branding is defining who you are as a company. Your mission, values… what makes you special and unique. It’s your key brand elements, such as your logo, your website, and your brand style guidelines. My favorite saying is “marketing is what gets people to engage with your company while branding is what keeps them coming back.”

Now, marketing is the set of tools, processes, and strategies you use to actively promote your product, service, and company. Marketing are the actions you take to connect with your customers and get them to buy your products or services.

Marketing is used to promote your product or service. Branding is used to actively shape your brand and who you

are.

You need strategies for both, as they have different goals and different results.

BMM: What is the biggest mistake that other businesses are doing with their branding or marketing?

LORI: As mentioned above, not seeing them as two separate entities. That and always thinking that your branding needs to change. Your brand connects you while your marketing sells you. When branding and marketing are seen as the same thing, you will lose precious time, energy, and money attempting to grow your business.

BMM: What is your favorite subject to delve on when doing your public speaking events?

LORI: I love talking about media and strategy. It’s such a misconception that simply doing more live videos on your social media will result in sales. This can be one strategy, but certainly not the entire plan for growth and sales. Not to mention, even going live on socials, require specific strategies, not just talking about anything that is on you mind. Strategy and alignment are huge. So many entrepreneurs don’t get he importance of this or how do implement these concepts successfully.

Each person is unique and has their own story and angle and I love when I get to share strategy and see others get that “aha” moment in their eyes.

BMM: Being an incredibly motivated woman, how do you manage your time for yourself and your business?

LORI: This can be such a hard concept. For me, the bottom line is family will always trump business. If we don’t make time for what invigorates us, we will get consumed by business and everything will burn out. However, you said “motivated” and that is the key right there. Motivation is what gets us to move, and when we are moving, that is when the inspiration, the intention, the inclusion happens. Work/life balance doesn’t exist. Integrating all you are, with all you want to do, alongside of all you want to be, is when you find your sweet spot. Keep your priorities prioritized will create the life and business you want.

BMM: What is the best advice you have received that you would like to share with others?

LORI: “You’ve got this.”

The difference between someone who is successful and

WWW.BUSINESSANDMARKETINGMAGAZINE.COM 13

someone who isn’t, is our internal beliefs. The only person that determines my success or failure is me.

If you have not ‘arrived’ at where you want to be, yet you are making progress, you have not failed. I see too many people giving up on their dreams because of someone else’s definition of success.

Do you have a message that you would like to share with our readers?

I created an 8-step method for creating a legacy inside your life and business. I’d love to share them with everyone. Launch your vision, leave your mark, level up your resources, live in your value, leverage your toolbox, look past your future, locate your integrity, and finally lead your life on purpose.

Do these things and watch the beauty of your life unfold in front of you. You’ll have no regrets. You have all the tools you need with you for success, you just have to believe in yourself and go live it!

We all have it. We all do it. We all want it.

What is it? A brand.

In the 21 st century business branding has become synonymous with personal branding. Some to a lesser degree than others, but for most, our personal brand has become our professional brand.

I am not stranger to this. The closer our personal brand is to our professional brand the more authentic we become and the more authentic our business becomes.

We live in a world of doing business with those we know,

like, and trust. This is important because what keeps businesses sustainable are those returning customers. However, what brings customers to your business is your branding and marketing. An easy example is toothpaste. All toothpaste does the same thing – cleans your teeth. Pause for a moment and ask yourself what the reason is behind what toothpaste you use.

The Color?

The Emotion?

The Connection?

The best marketers and branding experts spend copious amounts of time testing out colors. Sure, you can test markets, methods, motivations, etc. but the strongest factor to successful branding and marketing comes down to color.

When you first engage in a new relationship, one of the first questions asked is “what is your favorite color.” For years I thought this was a cute question, subliminally used to woo the love of a partner. Then like a lightbulb, it went off. “Color is used to subliminally woo the likes of another.”

We are attracted to things by their color. The best brands know this. We attach meaning to color. We tend to purchase clothes based on their color and we purchase products that we feel comfortable with based on color.

The Basis of Psychology

Psychology is the study of the mind, how it works, how it thinks, how is processes. Understand this, and you can understand how to speak to others, get them attracted to you.

Internally, we connect to what keeps us inside our comfort zone. That comfort zone is a feeling, an emotion. Customers attract to what feeds them comfort. That comfort may be solving a problem, mitigating a consequence, or creating a personal connection (real or perceived).

It is a subliminal one that says, ‘I like this – you like this

let’s connect.’

The Basis of Color

Color psychology at its core is studying how to understand, predict, and influence human behavior. As written earlier, it is a subliminal concept. Understanding color is more ultimately more influential than the color itself as we will see.

Building a strong brand means creating a brand identity. That identity involves a combination of research, understanding, and important branding elements such as typography, color palette, forms and shapes, and composition.

The principles of marketing psychology influence the choices you should make when building your brand identity. Your bands color is one of the most influential choices you’ll make.

Let’s take the three basic colors to demonstrate this.

Red – Bold, strong emotional connection, increases intensity and passions.

Blue – Cool, peaceful emotions, consistency, increases security and trust.

Yellow – Warm, cheerful emotions, nurtures cognitive thought, increases communication.

The Basis of Implementation

Putting color to work for us is two-fold. First, the colors we chose must also represent how we see ourselves and our businesses. When we chose a color that best represents that, we will stand stronger, bolder, more confident in our approach, all which builds that ‘know, like, trust’ factor and draws others to us.

Externally, we connect to what others connect to. This is easiest to see in the sports world. You can spot a Kobe Bryant fan immediately (they are typically wearing his jersey). The hope is to make a statement.

Secondly, the colors we chose should represent our ideal client, customer, and advocate. When we position our business in that manner it stimulates the subliminal

WWW.BUSINESSANDMARKETINGMAGAZINE.COM 17

thought in others that “this person gets me cause of that, people will be drawn to you.

Time again to pause. Launching your business forward requires a dedication to understanding how your clients and customers see you, and ultimately how they see

Want to know how to land that media spot?

Want to learn how to access and successfully land a media gig that would propel you and your business to its next level?

If you could learn how to access and successfully land a media gig that would propel you and your business to its next level, would you honestly read it and implement its contents? Sound like a crazy question? Unfortunately, it is the reality that exists today. Many entrepreneurs and maybe even you have struck out at landing that coveted media spot. Perhaps there has been some success in the past but currently that sweet spot is gone. In this easy to consume book, Lori takes the reader through a simple, yet hugely effective five-step strategy that will not only get your pitch to be read but will help land you in the spotlight that you’ve been searching for. Lori’s strategy has helped her achieve a 100% acceptance rate for every pitch she’s submitted following these steps. What makes her process so effective? It’s grounded in simplicity. According to author Lori McNeil, what is holding you back from getting that Yes is rooted in how you start and how you finish. Focusing on the pre-planning, the pitch, and the post-planning (how you follow up) processes allows the preparation to flow smoothly, which results in giving a solid performance that captivates not just your ideal clients but more importantly it captivates the media world too.

By now, you should know that social media is a powerful tool to reach new audiences and grow your business as a content creator. However, it can be difficult to know where to start and improve with so many platforms and options.

Let’s explore some ideas regarding how to use social media to promote your content and increase your revenue like a pro:

Start with the Basics

Before beginning the promotions of your content on social media, it’s crucial to have the basics in place. This includes creating highquality content that is relevant to your target audience, optimizing your website for SEO, and setting up Google Analytics to track your traffic.

Create Shareable Content

One of the best ways to promote your content on social media is to create content that is easy to share. This includes things like infographics, images, quotes, and listicles.

Use Social Media Ads

Social media advertising is not only tremendous but vital to reaching new audiences and promoting your content. Try using ads on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to target people based on interests, demographics, and even location.

Leverage Influencers

Influencers have dedicated followings with an audience hungry to do what the influencer does. These are people who will help persuade others to read or consume your content. So first, find the ones who speak to your exact audience or similar audiences who will also want what you offer. Then, reach out to them about partnering on a post or project.

Host a Twitter Chat

Twitter chats are live events where people come together to discuss a certain topic. They’re a great way to promote your content and get people talking about your brand.

Use Content Upgrades

Content upgrades are bonus pieces of content that people can access by providing their email addresses. They’re a great way to grow your email list and promote your latest blog post or eBook.

Use Hashtags

Hashtags effectively help you reach new audiences and promote your content on social media. When used strategically, they can help you connect with people who are interested in what you have to say. But, of course, the effectiveness of a hashtag will depend on your specific target audience and platform.

Repurpose Your Content

Don’t let your hard work go to waste repurpose your content to get the most mileage out of it. For example, repurpose a blog post into an infographic or an eBook into a series of blog posts.

You’ll effectively promote your content on social media and reach new audiences when you implement these ideas. However, social media provides only one piece of the content marketing puzzle. To be successful, you need to have a well-rounded content marketing strategy that includes all of the above strategies, including SEO, email marketing, and paid advertising. ~Anne McGurty

4 Things to Know Before The Interview

Being asked to take part in a media interview is a big step in someone's business and career. It generates popularity and awareness of your business, and people can get to learn about you as well. It can also add up to your benefit, setting you apart from your competition. Anyone who could be interested in sponsoring your business would get a chance to see what you’re all about as well. Keeping that in mind though, there is a fine line to tread when it comes to media interviews. Say the wrong thing, or show views towards something else, and it could ruin your reputation and take a while to recover from. Here are all right questions to ask before saying yes to the big interview.

1. Is This Your Demographic?

The first question to ask is this; Does the media outlet requesting the interview speak to your target audience.

Do you want to interview with someone who is not in the same demographics as what your business is for? If the target audience is not going to be reached through a specific interview, then it is a waste of time. An interview can bring more followers and business to a company, so having the right interview and with the right audience watching is a huge deal.

32 WWW.BUSINESSANDMARKETINGMAGAZINE.COM
©

2. Are You Prepared?

The second question to ask is are you prepared for the interview itself. When an interviewer asks to interview you and your business, make sure you're completely competent on what you’ll be saying and giving out. If you are not completely comfortable with what you’ll be saying, then you have every right to decline an interview respectfully. Do not make a fool out of yourself or your business.

The fourth question is simple. Is the issue too controversial to talk about? This is a touchy one. It is always a safe bet to steer clear of largely controversial issues. You do not want to offend anyone or be caught being biased or giving the wrong impression. Always know your answers and be aware of what it will sound like once it's said. Not only will a wrong answer damage your reputation, it can also lose business and sponsors. Not to mention everyone will hear. All that to keep in mind, just remember that an interview will always be a balancing act with an audience. Always be as prepared as possible, and the best well-rehearsed in what you know and stand for. That will give you the best interview possible for yourself.

3. Is This Your Area of Expertise?

The third question to keep in mind is, are you the best person to speak on the issue at hand. If there is something being asked that you are not familiar with or do not deal with, do not make yourself out to be an expert when you cannot provide accurate knowledge of the topic. If you are aware that the interview is out of what you know, don’t hesitate to direct theinterviewer to someone who is more rehearsed on the topic at hand and can give better answers and information to the audience. This canalso be considered networking.

It’s Strategic Planning time… Again.

but this time, instead of repeating the usual process, I urge you to think about the entire process a bit differently… I shared this with my CEO networking group to much agreement and interest.

1) What do you want to be known for?

Perhaps you’ve addressed this in your Vision / Mission statements, but if there were just ONE thing you want your customers to remember you by, what is it? FedEx: Overnight shipping. Business Power Tools: Businessbuildingsoftwaretemplates . You? Maybe you want to rethink yours during this process… What can you be the Uber, Airbnb, or [xxx] of?

2) CEO Speaking

Many other business leaders and consultants are speaking at various industry events in the hopes of promoting their businesses (and becoming rock-star thought-leaders…) What about you? I like knowing that Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia, is also an environmentalist and hangs on cliffs using his own product. What’s a nice person like you doing in a business like yours? Share your motivations (your “why”) beyond money that drive you to do what you do and be the best. (In fact, get your team out there with their ideas too!) (Me?)

3) What Might You STOPDoing

We often think about all the things we want to do, but what about the things we’re doing that we could/should stop doing?!? Perhaps you have a few sacred cows (they make the best hamburgers) you can stop feeding and herding. Imagine the energy now available for higher priorities?!?

40 WWW.BUSINESSANDMARKETINGMAGAZINE.COM
B U S I N E S S
© By Burke Franklin

4) Prioritize

Unless you’re using PERT / Gantt charts for seriously tight planning, instead of simply bulletizing what you plan to do, I recommend numbering them by priority. Job responsibilities by priority. Marketing projects by priority. If you and/or your team cannot deliver on everything on your lists, what’s most important and must be done? Afterall, when your plans meet reality, what comes first? What’s next? 80/20… In fact, if you iterate the 80/20 rule 3X toward a list of 100 things to do, your top, #1 thing is more important than the other 99!

• The top 20 things give you 80% of the 100

• The top 4 things give you 80% of the top 20

• The top ~1 thing gives you 80% of the top 4

• 80% x 80% x 80% = 51%

5) Listen to Your People in LOW Places

Who knows better what’s happening with your business than the people who work on the front lines where “the rubber meets the road”? Are you relying too heavily on computer reports, are you listening mostly to the loudest people, are you sure you’re right? “What do you think are the top 3 things we should be doing? What should we stop doing?” Etc. (Remembertothankthempubliclyfor theirideas!)

6) Everyone Gets Rich the SAME Way

I learned this from prominent Silicon Valley attorney, Dennis DeBroeck. He’s seen his share of disputes over the years and if there were one thing that stands out, it’s the simple conflict about how the parties are going to make money. Do your investors want to sell, while you want to keep running your company? Do you and a partner want to buy and fix a building, but one of you wants to flip it while the other wants to lease it? Heated discussions are one thing when they are in favor of the same fundamental outcome, but why build-in a conflict when you can easily consider how each of you will profit in the end?

7) Bonus idea: Choose Your Words Carefully

Think about the words you use when leading your people or selling your products/services. “A word is worth 1,000 pictures.” We

often inadvertently insert images and emotions into our conversations and presentations expecting our audience to get the right idea. It doesn’t always work like that. For example, “Don’t think of an elephant.” Voila! We now have an elephant in the room. You’ll see many examples and learn how to give clearer direction in this brief presentation

I’m all about you succeeding with your business delivering your solution to our world. Until next time…

ProBio is science’s answer to gastrointestinal health, giving you the right balance of probiotics and immune system support to keep your body on track.* In fact your gut could win awards (if it wasn’t too humble to even consider entering a contest). It comes with a wide range of healthy benefits that include:

Benefits

• 6 Billion CFUs of beneficial bacteria to support your digestive system ‡

• Provides beneficial bacteria to maintain a healthy gut flora *

• Helps maintain gut integrity *

• Safely enhances your immune system *

• Features a unique controlled-release technology, delivering probiotics throughout the day and deep into your digestive system where they are needed most * Helps improve tight junctions and the communication between your brain and gut to help signal that you are full *

The Science Behind Smart Probiotics

Maintaining the balance of good bacteria in your gut is important to maintaining good mental and physical health. That’s why LifeVantage chose naturally derived probiotics delivered by BIO-tract controlled-release technology to give you the support you need. Combined with clinically proven Wellmune to encourage optimal immune system health, LifeVantage ProBio uses the natural potency of probiotics to support your journey of uncovering a healthier self.

ProBio delivers 6 Billion CFUs of beneficial bacteria‡ and each strain of bacteria has a unique benefit. Probiotics are measured in Colony Forming Units (CFU), which is a measurement of the live and active bacteria in each serving of a probiotic supplement. Using a broad array of probiotic strains provides you with a spectrum of benefits for your gut. More is not always better especially when it comes to probiotics. Having a balanced amount of probiotics that are alive when they arrive in your gut is more important than the quantity you ingest. That’s why ProBio uses BIO-tract controlled-release technology to deliver live probiotics deep into your small and large intestine.*

What is BioHacking?

Biohackers are individuals who believe in experiencebased knowledge. Their mindset is, “Show me the research and then let me try it for myself.”

BIohacking is taking full control of your biology. If you’ve pursued ways to improve your health, that’s biohacking. But, it’s more than just putting butter in your coffee every morning or taking a daily vitamin. Biohacking is the desire to understand the body and mind you’ve been given and using everything at your disposal cuttingedge technology, tools, and science to become the best version of yourself.

Why Biohacking?

Biohacking is more than just reading mindless self-improvement tips. It is understanding the why behind how you’re feeling, thinking, and performing. Knowing the “why” empowers you to not only biohack your body, but to make impactful changes to your overall health and well-being. At LifeVantage, we live for finding the “why” through relentless research, experimentation, and technology.

Biohackers are individuals who believe in experience-based knowledge. Their mindset is, “Show me the research and then let me try it for myself.” Learn to pay attention to how you’re feeling. There is always something tangible that’s affecting your daily ability to be awesome. Instead of simply accepting aches, ailments, and exhaustion as part of growing old, start to question those setbacks. With the “biohacker mindset,” you’re not eschewing traditional medicine, you’re just figuring out what works best for you. You’re actively seeking out a healthier lifestyle. And for that, your future self will thank you.

With all this in mind, the real question you should be asking is why not biohack?

YouTube Tips for Beginners | How to Look Natural on Video and Get Over Camera Shyness

Not sure how togetover your camera shynessandlook natural on video? I wasthere too! I’mhere to give some YouTube tips for beginners who are struggling to feel confident on camera.

Protip:It’s not about finding thebest angle, an expensive camera lens, or an impressive light source. In fact, the best way tolook confident in your YouTube video andthen build upan onlinepresence is completely free. Asalways, it’s thelittle things.

Before posting on aregular basis and treating every video as itsown launch and posting about iton social media (which I covered inmy last video), there aresome other thingsyou can do to “lookgoodon camera” –keep on reading to findoutwhat they are.

How to look good in front of the camera

Anyone with a YouTube channel has been here before. Have you ever stopped a recording because you were trying to find the most flattering angle, doing the right makeup, finding the right clothes, looking for the best ring light, forcing a natural smile, keeping a good posture…? If the answer is yes, I am here to tell you the solution is not in any of those issues.

There are three roadblocks that people face when starting on YouTube. Tech, talent, and time.

I’ll show you some different ways to look good in front of the camera and overcome all of those roadblocks – that you can implement right now – and will make a big difference in your next video.

Roadblock #1: Tech

Thefirst roadblock is tech. Thinking you need expensive equipmentis one of thebiggestmistakes peoplemake.A lot of peopleaskme,“What’s the bestoption for acamera?”, “Do I need a lighting kit?”,“What’s agood microphone to get rid of background noise?”,“DoI need to hirea makeup artist?” “Whatdo I usefor improving audioquality?”

While aprofessional look is important, it is not as importantas actually getting started.

Many people, me included, started with just an iPhone without atripod or ring light.

The important thing is remembering why you are doing this –you areproviding value to your viewers!

Roadblock #2: Talent

The next roadblock many of us face is talent. People are shy, don’t know what to say or how to do it. But just like with anything else in life, the best thing you can do is to get started. A good rule of thumb is practicing, practicing, practicing. Some of the things I like to do before I start filming is to get into a stateof feelinggood and feelingconfident.

To do that, you need to remember why you are doing this the whole time you are recording. Is it because you want to help people? Because you want to make more money? Whenever I start to get nervous, I like to think about who needs me and who needs this message, and just knowing that my expertise canhelp other people is stronger than myfears.

Let’s talk about getting your confidence up. What I like to do every day before I shoot is do everything I can to get into that state. I make sure I have a good night’s sleep the night before, that I had enough water, a good meal, have a little dance party, walk outside Simply do whatever energizes you – because that energy is going to translate into your video. There’s no better waytohave a realsmile on camera.

Roadblock #3: Time

As entrepreneurs, we need to understand what are the most revenue-generating tasks in our business, and which ones we can outsource or delegate to someone else who has the talents inareas thataren’t necessarily our strengths.

For me, one of the first hires that I made was a video editor, then a personal assistant, and a copywriter. Hiring people who had superpowers I don’t is a great way for me to focus on working with clients and growing my business.

However, the one thing that I can’t outsource is me being in front of the camera and building relationships with my viewers. Delegation is an important aspect of any business and will make a huge difference in terms of making your processes more efficient. Even if these hires are just doing a little bit of work, they will give you the extra time you need to focus on moreimportant things.

This extra time will go a long, long way in building up your YouTubechannel.

Delegation is a major way to free up some of your time, but the otherway is to be efficient.

These are my top tips for recording your first video. I hope this has given you the confidence to get over the tech, the talent, the time roadblocks that might be in your way. Remember that having a successful YouTube channel is not about the best camera angle or having the best light (although they help, for sure) – but it’s all about providing quality videos and value to your viewers.

All you need is a stack of books, a phone or laptop webcams, natural lighting, a good idea for a video, and you are all ready torecord aprofessional video.

How to Eat in a World of Fads and Fiction

As health expert for Lifetime television’s morning show and syndicated radio host, Dr. Friedman has spent the last fifteen years interviewing hundreds of health advocates, scientists, doctors and New York Times bestselling authors. His goal has always been to share cuttingedge topics and advice to help his audience reach their optimal health. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. Instead, every guest would end up leaving them (and Dr. Friedman) more and more confused. From proponents of a Vegan, Paleo, Mediterranean Diet to a Gluten Free and Low Carb Diet, the opinions are as different as night and day. After becoming frustrated with so much biased (often paid for) and conflicting research, Dr. Friedman created a common science meets common sense approach that finally puts an end to the culinary conundrum!
